The action replays clearly showed the umpire decision was wrong and stops the srilankans from scoring double century against Aussies.
Moreover I want to discuss one thing that if the batsman argues for giving him out, then ICC immediately fined him and cut 50 or 75% his match fee. But this case, this is the mistake of Umpire who didn't discuss with his partner or third umpire but he simply said "I am sorry" which is very easy to say.
The same case was occured during last one day match played between India and Pak. Yuvraj was given out by umpire and later he was fined by ICC becoz of his code of conduct..
If the umpire was mistake such action should be taken against him or else he should discuss with another umpire or third umpire.

fully agreed. Umpires are allowed to make the most elementary mistake and nothing gets done. At the most, some will say sorry. However, the batsman is always expected to accept absolutely wrong decisions - otherwise get fined. Why are umpires not fined? Then we will see the end of these mistakes.
I was shocked to see this from Rudi who always takes his own time to lift his finger. When the Match is in such a crucial stage, Rudi should have consulted his Leg Umpire and/or Third Umpire can always call the Unpire on Wireless and give correct decision after verifying on the TV screen. This would have salvaged the prestiage of all the people concerned with the Test as Sangakara was playing so well and he would have earned a victory to Sri Lanka with his superb shots and deft placements. This is an unfair victory and Australian Wicketkeepers, slip fielders and bowlers are known for putting pressure on the Umpires and earning dubious decisions in the past and it is high time all the elite Umpires realise this folly and protect the visiting teams.

umpires often seems to favour the Australians whereever they play. I wonder whether the umpires consider the Aussies infallible.

Rudy Koetzen is a proven failure - remember the WC final fiasco? Wonder how such umpires continue to remain on the international elite panel!
This incident provees once again that aussies are biggest liars & racists..... they can keep on giving thousand excuses after geetting caught on camera
Something should be done very seriously to make it mandatory for umpires to refer to third umpire all the decisions for which they are not sure.Obviously prestige of the nation is involved and millions of peoples feelings are involved with this GREAT GAME OF CRICKET. These days with such umpiring decisions it is giving the feeling of an ameture game then professional game. everything can be ruined by just one person and he can walk away by saying it is human error....what human error when you have the facility using the techonology why not to go for it. Mr.Gavaskar are you listening???
let him punihed 25% of his match fees so that in future they will not be quick to put up the finger as he did; Apologising will not put the record staright as far as Sangakara is concerned maybe he and malinga could have go the scor if the way malinga batted after the departure of sangakara is any indication
all umpires who err and are proven to have done so should be fined 25% of their match fees just as players are fined for showing resent to an umpires faulty decsion; the system should be fined tuned and no one person should be held guilty Umpires are as much a part of the FAIRPLAY SYSTEM as much as the PLAYERS are.
I wonder why we have TV umpire, What was their job, are they only for run out's and to see boundaries, Why not the umpire's ask for Third umpire they are not sure of the decision.... We have enough Technology to identify such Hard decision makings.... NO WORDS FOR THESE SORT OF DECISIONS,
RE:Why the Umpire making decision if he is not sure of it ( why we need Third Umpire)

The third umpire should be given the authority to override the field umpire's decision

yes I don't understand why umpires can't refer such decisions to third umpire as well.
Poor Umpiring decisions that's going to come up later when tour the Australia! Is anyone bothered?
Our BCCI is busy counting currencies. They won't be bothered about issues like, our batsmen or bowlers ending up at the recieving end due to horrible umpiring decisions. Even the umpiring errors need to be protested and ICC must be informed of these mistakes with video footages. Umpires irrespective of their colour or creed try to please whites and win their support to officiate more matches. There's not a single umpire from India who is in the ICC's elite panel of umpires. BCCI is not bothered at all. They'll only show the measures taken in this regard on paper and not the nett result of them. They even forget that ICC can not survive without asian nations' support. Infact, BCCI must dictate terms rather than doing the bowing act. Steve Bucknor has gone too old to hear or observe the faint snicks and edges froom the bat and he must retire. The only good umpire in the current lot seems to be Mr. Alim Dharr from Pakistan who does a fairly neat and unbiased job.
Thank God! Our players have woken up finally and learnt to fight fire with fire. I'm sure, Andrew Nel's stare at our batsmen will surely be dealt suitably by our batsmen hereafter. Ausies and South Africans are the most erring ones in terms of himiliating the opposition on and off the field. It's time, we give them back their due share. Khudos to the current crop of young and courageous players for doing just that.
