True enough. These supposed 'mistakes' always happen when a subcontinent team looks like they may win.

Stop your bullshit Ponting! Cricket is played with bats and balls and not with loud, lousy, blabbering mouths...

Mr. Ponting! Just keep shut your mouth until the start of the series. We'll reply your blabbers with deeds. You can not psyche this new generation team India. They're capable of giving you back strongly. Just keep shut your mouth. Cricket is not a battle between loud, lousy, idiotic mouths.

mpiring Decisions
by Venkatachalam on Nov 20, 2007 06:21 PM  | Hide replies

In all fairness to umpires they have to take a split second decision and some decisions are wrong. One must appreciate that there is a human element to such decisions. In England too some wrong decisions were givenand the Umpire is reported to have apologised to Sachin on one such occasion. That is a part of the game and players by and large accept the same. It is only the fans who seem to be bothered more.

Indian Umpires
by rohan on Nov 20, 2007 05:02 PM  | Hide replies

Indian umpires are no good. They bring us shame...
If there's a match in India both umpires should be neutral even in one day matches.
Look how imidiately he gave yuvi and gambhir out... where as there were too many valid LBW shouts while India bowling he dint give any body out....

Umpire Suresh Shastri is stupid !!!!

Now we know how the Aussies win test matches consecutively. They would give the inform batsmen out (even if it hits the shoulder and give LBW(famous Sachins dismissal) or give him out caught whereas Aussies would complain about umpiring standards in India and they would say they would crush the opponents. Yeah it is is possible if we give out to Hayden, Gilly & Ponting out and India or any team can win. Aussies are Cheats, Racist and so...so....so...

Karthik ..there is a correction.Batsman can be given out if the ball hits any part of the body provided it hits the wicket and also the ball pitches in the right areas.

When Yuvraj showed that the ball had hit his shoulders and not bat.. he was fined 20% of the match fees.

Now, when umpires give wrong decisions and that costs the team the match, they should be fined as well.

Not fair to fine Yuvraj! He only indicated to the umpire where the ball hit him. It seems as though he had been punished twice over for no fault of his!

The umpires feel that they will be treated as jokers if the LBW decisions are out of their hand. But technology not being utilized when its available is really a shame. There have been many winning chances lost due to wrong umpiring. This situation has to be changed. their is no point in apologising after the game is over.

Fairly easy to understand. If more technology is used, that means the umpires become less important. Why would umpires support a move to get rid of themselves?

That's Umpiring
by maltesh manappa arer on Nov 20, 2007 02:54 PM  | Hide replies

We all know in the heat of Cricket Matches, some decisions from umpires go wrong and finally effect the outcome of the match.

Here what Koertzen did was absolutely admirable. He apologised to Sangakkara and that's the way it has to be. Take the case of Yuvraj Singh who was given out wrongly by umpire Shastri.

I think Shastri should have apologised to Yuvi as it has stopped a determined Yuvi from winning we Indians another match, coz had Yuvi stood in the crease for some more time we would have easiily won the match.

It's a good gesture from Rudi Koertzen and should be followed by every umpire in the international arena.

what a sorry would do after the damage has been done it is like stabbing a man to death and telling sorry. Just this is ridiculous. If the sophisticated technologies are available the umpires should make use of it. As was rightly said by one of the frns they should also be penalised then only they will understand the importance of umpiring and what damage it causes for faulty decisions.

Accepted my friend. But, after so much of hue & cry about the use of technology, there is hardly any improvement. Umpires are not at all bent towards using it.
