Fully agree that ESPN is the better telecaster. However, it won't be long before they compromise their standards due to the advertising dollar.

Think about it... if BCCI continues to charge millions of dollars for telecasting rights, the telecasters have to make the money back somehow, yeah? So the choices in front of ESPN are:
1) Maintain standards & not be interested when BCCI asks for too much.
2) Compromise standards, get rights at any cost and show 4-ball overs to avoid financial loss.

So go ahead & blame the low-standard telecasters. But blame the BCCI first.

No Tendulkar No Match
by Manoj Banerjee on Jun 01, 2007 05:59 PM  | Hide replies

What's the point in watching this match, when the greatest batsman on this planet has opted out. One thing is clear if Tendulkar doesn't play BCCI won't find anyone to broadcast its matches as no one will watch

Yeah, viewership is bound to nosedive in his absence. But dude, he hasn't been the greatest batsman on the planet for a few years now.

For this decade, Ponting is your man. Kallis & Hayden come close and Dravid might have a chance. But Tendulkar? Nah.

BCCI Humbled
by meena chandar on Jun 01, 2007 05:52 PM  | Hide replies

I heard that the BCCI folks literally had to plead to the TV channels to cover these matches.. I also hear that the ticket sales will be an all time low this time

Which, hopefully, will mean the end of this meaningless recurring tournament. Someone's got to face the fact that Africa vs Asia just doesn't generate enough interest to make it a viable event.

Telecast row!!!

Atlast the BCCI got its face saved by ESPN-STARSPORTS. Arter being made to frantically run from pillar o post, the BCCI would have realized that whatever money they have earned came to them just because of the Cricketers and not because of their arrogant officers.

Yeah, U r exactly rite, watching other channels telecasting cricket is watching DUMB show without any Josh and Enthusiasm in their Speech..

Atleast now we can hear Ravishastri, Sunny, Allan Wilkins, Geffry, Harsha Bhogle Siddhu, Superb Commentators with Great talking skills, they wont make us bore even for 5 mins...

Good to watch CRICKET in ESPN-STAR sports...
