by minutes?
by Rojo Don Poho on May 29, 2007 07:26 PM  | Hide replies

What is the minutes has to be parameter in recording the fastest fifty or hundred.

minutes are variable... fast bowlers take more minutes to bowl... or if the captain takes more time in setting the field... why the minutes?... Does it makes sense to somebody?

These cricket statisticans have nothing to do these says... fastest fifty in minutes... what?

This is because in the early days of test cricket no one made note of the number of balls faced by a bowler or the number of overs bowled by a bowler. In fact, test matches were played for a definite time period each day no matter how many overs wre bowled.
It is for this reason that the records are taken in minutes.....moreover check out Don Bradman's records. All of 'em will be shown in terms of minutes and not balls faced!!!!

Never consider FAST scoring in Test!!
by Manian Vasudevan on May 29, 2007 10:04 AM

Now, people got focused to ODI format and unfortunately, even in a Test match, where the batsmen's real temperament is tested, people expect fast scoring. If the trend continues, the end of Test match era is not far away. People should understand the the meaning for temperament before airing opinions about scoring rates.

This is absurd.
by Indian on May 29, 2007 09:31 AM  | Hide replies

I have never seen fastest fifty category based on number of minutes played. Cricket is played by two batsmen what if one batsman takes 5 balls of the over and leaves the last ball to his partner. Now the other batsmen will take hours to score his fifty. So basically categorizing based on the number of minutes does not make sense. Dont try to fool us by bringing in with these kinds of absurd catogories.

The only thing which counts is the number of balls taken to score a fifty.

you idoits...number of minutes is not the number of minutes spent at the crease together...it's the time taken by that individual to score fifty...

jerk have a look at the stats again
Look at Kallis' fifty and then look whether you find his name in the time list or not. If you don't have brains please refrain from showing off your ignorance in public forums.

Ponting Vs Tendulkar
by Nandu R on May 29, 2007 06:36 AM  | Hide replies

People comparing Tendulkar and Ponting are real brainless people. Tendulkar has scored 4 hundred and 3 fifty in Australia against Australia with the Highest score of 241 not out and a very good average of 54.15 Where as Ponting has scored only one fifty with a highest score of 60 and the average of 12.28 in India against India. Know the reason why sachin is called greatest batsman. Ask ponting to score one test century in India before you guys can even compare him with Tendulkar

Tendulkar has scored 3 centuries in last two years including two against Bangladesh while Pointing has scored 6 centuries against quality oppenents in last year only...Ask ponting to score less centuries then he will become great like Sachin...Ponting needs to score against Bangladesh then only he will be any way near to sachin.

Ponting is lucky, as he need not face the Australians, who are arguably, the best bowling side now. If possible, we should verify his records in Australian domestic cricket for us to actually compare him with other greats like Sachin and Lara. Bradman, showed praise on Sachin and not on Ponting, who is very much an Australian. Only great people can talk about great people.

Except sarzah in 1999-00, i dont find sachin has played in any big occassion when we needed him most.He is always a big match failure.Bradman would have taken his decision back seeing the current form of sachin and ponting.this is the best time sachin should retire.why did he withdraw his name from afro-asian tournament, from fear of being exposed again??

U know what was the score of Bradman in his last inning--- ZERO when he required only 4 runs to maintain his average of 100. Cool down it happens

This rediff forum has become Sachin blasting forums. Of course he is not in his best since last 1-2 years. Some of the comments are rediculous... like He plays only against Kenya. Tell me when was the last time he played against Kenya?
Also if Ponting and Gilchrist scores centuries against Bangladesh, you idiots keep quite.. only when Sachin scores runs against BD, you blast him. Tell him what he needs to do?

Very bad forum....

Dear Venkata,

Do you have certificates, and/or records of what you learn in school/university? Your marks, scores? Where is the connection of western here?

For everything we need to have records. Don't you think you keep records in your office and home?

Cheers,
Raj

Why look records
by Antoni D'souza on May 28, 2007 06:57 PM  | Hide replies

Unfortunately cricket has become game for the records.Somehow some fool comes up with some kind of record, - with that the charm of cricket has disappeared.

What is use of a record where the team ultimately loses!
