All those who are concerned
by syed adil on Mar 29, 2007 06:04 PM

Guy please see and think about your psychology, you have been toppled by Indian teams performance and BCCI%u2019s work.....seem you don%u2019t have any goal in your life... you will end up criticizing those F.....
This is a beautiful earth. There are hells lots of good thing to put your brain in.....some time I think what kind of brain you guys are born with ....... interestingly you are not alone about 70% of Indian are of the same breed.....disgusting.....
this is the basic reason we are behind...before hand many of you know it as that is a money making stuff ,you still watch it continuously with out interruption and start blaming BCCI player and lot more....
And make it a national event.....
think about how many people die every day, how many dies due to hunger, how the superpower are creating a new age of imperialism.......
Remember we are the next after mid east.... they have oil....so they were targeted they will be left as soon as the oil is finished. But do you ever imagine what we have.... we have knowledge and its not going to end soon.... so there are many chances that we are influenced by these evil power no to take the right step at right time.
Think over it%u2026.
My apology for being offensive but I feel strongly about it so said it.

Who cares a damn?

They need to stop calling the team, the national team, if they they are a private company with a pure profit motive. Stop treating those idiots like idols. And BCCI should rename itself as a club. Encrypt or decrypt your signals. We don't care anymore if the quality of the team is this bad.

BCCI has a right to sell their own product
by Sudip Bhattacharjee on Mar 22, 2007 11:46 AM

There is no such thing like "Indian team". Those who are playing for india are technically playing for BCCI because BCCI is a private organization; it is not a govt organization. They are not paied by the govt. Like any other private agency, they have the right to keep their product exclusive. Indian govt has no right to control any private person's right. Let's say you manufacture certain product. Will you be happy if govt asks you that you can sell your product to certain persons only?

Oh yeah sure we can make it a governmental body.

Well, we would then have 27% OBC/MBC reservation,25% SC/ST, 20% Minorities (thank god they cant reserve for women here).

Players will realise that their abdomen guard broke coz some corrupt official thought it was the best (chinese) brand to buy for the team.

We will have a union cabinet minister for cricket and a minster for state for cricket. Not only will they cost the exchequere dear, but also promote corruption in state/national selection.

To become an umpire you will have to shell out 1 Lakh rupees. To become a third umpire 10Lakhs.

You would need political influence to buy a regular match ticket and pay a bribe too. And you will see political graffiti in all cricket stadiums, probably flags and posters too.

Match fixing will become organised and under wraps.

Finally Mr.Chidamabaram seeing the sorry state of affairs will issue a cricket cess on income!

! LoL !

I can understand your frustration, but it will only exacerbate the current situation.

It is all about money!!!
by g shekar on Mar 09, 2007 09:29 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI has sold Indian Citizen's Rights to Nimbus to make money. Earlier Govt. has made it optional and BCCI took advantage of it. As they refuse to share Feed, Govt. had no other option to make it a Law. Kodos to our Minister.
BCCI claim that it will effect cricket in long run, where as it is the other way. As all sports reach every corner of our country it will have positive effect only. BCCI will realise soon, wait and watch.........

Lets understand that BCCI has the right to sell telecast right in the market and Nimbus has won the right for telecast by bidding...they have every right to be the sole channel to telecast the match..govt should not interfere and force Nimbus to share its feed with DD...let DD compete and win the bid..u cant force private players in selling their rights by some ACT or Rule..today we r happy coz its in the benefit of the ppl..but this is not the way competitors should play in the market..

DD should not be allowed to have monopoly. This is a democrarcy for Christ's sake! and not a communist set-uplike China's.State run networks should compete and get the rights as mandated.

Self seekers
by Anindita Mukherjee on Mar 09, 2007 07:27 AM

I do not understand the psychology. Some people say why there is so much money in ads etc for the cricketers and they oppose government broadcasting of cricket match.
It seems those who pay for extra or cable channels do not want others to enjoy the game without extra payment of money. It is a country of jealous and self seekers. Much more than any other country.
This is the reason why we can not go ahead as a nation, and our progress is much slower than many south Asian nations. One should be prepared to enjoy and let others enjoy sports, news, entertainment and other fruits of civilisation in as less money as possible.

Broadcast Bill detriment to Indian cricket: BCCI
by Gurudutt kamath on Mar 09, 2007 07:04 AM

The offer by BCCI must solve the issue in all its sincerity and no body for whatever reasons must work contrary to the "encryption" requirements in this process. Therefore, the ministries concerned must apply their mind pro actively and enable its citizens, sports lovers to watch the match ever live and not after seven minutes.
