BCCI should think on appointing Amrita Singh as a coach of Team India. So that Ravi Shastri and his Ex-girl friend Amrita Singh combinely can do some miracle. I think their physical chemistry will definetly motivate indian players.

Venkatesh Prasad is our current bowling coach..he sucks for sure...Coach can only be a person he knows wat it takes to perform...not prasad he lacks the vision and instict to be a bowling..already with the grace of god we have such mashaallah bowlers who have no idea wat so ever...who cud probably compete with anil kumble for pace...with this current scenario....our bowling is going Bad to worse...have AKRAM as the coach...he is very smart and manipulative with cricket...and he was a very street smart cricketer....we need sme smart brains out there...we dont need prasads and srinaths n all these pple....

Pakis dont even give visa to indians who have lived outside for a lo.ong time.In some cases if their names sounds like Indian then no visa. Compare that with what you recommend...

I guess you are also not a bad choice...by d way did BCCI ppl contact you yet?
With this our guys will have no problem with their ways of conduct on or off the field. What stupid guys are ruling the cricket in India! Begining of end....most of us will be relieved of this nonsense sport soon.
In some of the Football clubs in England, they have Player/Manager, the Player will also take the responsibility of Team Management off-pitch. Hope this solves the issue of having a coach. Anyway, Indian Cricket Players are matured enough to learn from their past mistakes. I think the BCCI should seriously consider this option on an experimental basis. Anyway they have nothing to loose. The Thing most important (World Cup) is over, surely Team India can win matches on their own without coach.
RE:How about Player/Manager for a current player
by kaka on Jun 05, 2007 08:24 PM
if the indian players are matured enuf to learn from their past mistakes then how come they can't sort out the tendency to fish outside offstump or playing without getting feet close to the pitch of the ball?
BCCI should select a coach who has never played an international game,i mean he should be a former domestic cricket player but not an international player..i can bet former domestic players who have turned to be coaches are far better than the international coaches.
RE:selecting a coach

Probably those domestic players are not given a chance to play for India due to inefficinet quota system. So they still have a desire to win games for India rather than just mint money. Again this is my conclusion, more like a guess (Just like Indian Cricket Team's performance)
I don't think this guy is suitable for coaching. This maybe a BCCI farce to show that they had more than one candidate to choose [from]. From Cricinfo: In the era before Shane Warne when spin bowling was on its uppers, John Emburey was perhaps the best offspinner in the world, which did not say much. He was tall with a classically looping action, and capable of getting huge amounts of bounce and away-drift. But his qualities were submerged amid the grim battles slow bowlers faced in the 1980s: uncongenial pitches and one-day cricket, which forced him to become primarily negative and defensive. He improvised more in his batting, in which he managed to score runs while infuriating bowlers by ignoring both footwork and backlift. Always a willing talker and theorist, he was an excellent senior pro and a promising coach (though he was fired by Northamptonshire before returning home to Middlesex). Over-promoted to England captain for two Tests amid general chaos in 1988, he was fired as capriciously as he was appointed. Emburey was the only cricketer to go on both (1981-82 and 1989-90) England rebel tours to South Africa, and was instantly forgiven both times, which says much about attitudes at Lord's but something about the general esteem for his qualities.
At the end of his playing career he left Middlesex and was player-coach and then coach at Northants from 1996 to 1998 before being sacked with a year of his contract to run. In 2001 he signed to coach Berkshire with the

Hey Dude....did you hear of Dav Whatmore before he was the Srilankan coach? The same goes for Embury. You cant judge a coach by his playing statistics. I strongly beleive that an Indian coach will deffinitely promote favoritesm in the team. gavaskar, shastri are the worst of the lot. Vishwnath is too old and out of favour. The egoistic seniors will never respect Sandeep patil. So that leaves us with Embury and his likes.

BCCI is just making ppl fool.....They must have decided by now that whos d coach..and most probably its Dav Whatmore........Just showing off that they are following proper procedure......
RE:John Emburey
by kaka on Jun 05, 2007 07:52 PM
what are u talking about? did they not reject mr. whatmore. And the players dont want him - hence I dont whatmore will be a fool to take the job even if they offer him.
RE:John Emburey
by sagar radia on Jun 05, 2007 07:56 PM
Dav Whatmore will accept it even if players dont want it.....its better to coach india den bangladesh ...or say pakistan(though PCB is also not interested in hiring Mr. Dav Whatmore)........It will be difficult to coach indian egoistic guys compare to bangadeshish but reputation wise whatmore will get a good job!
Sandeep Patil would be the best available choice, he is very strict when it comes to fitness. I heard he doesnt allow the batsmen and bowlers to touch the bat and ball without rigorous exercise. We all know how he transformed the Kenyan team in 2003 World cup. Present India cricketers (playing team) are aware of his habit so none of them (senior cricketers like Dravid/Ganguly and Sachin) want him to be the coach.
I guess BCCI may be the richest sporting body in India but in the brain deptt they are bankrupt. With Gavaskar, Vishwanath, patil still active what is the need for a foreign coach? The deabate is not indian vrs foriegn for jingoistic reasons but for acclimatisation, pschye reasons. We indians are not as aggressive as Aussies, SA etc so efforts need to be for motivation, pursuasion. tendulkar, Sehwag need frame of mine not any technique
BCCI give the New coach a completely new Indian Team without any of the old players. Then see thier performance with Australia or Sri Lanka. After that finalise on the world cup team for 2011.
