I think Bangladesh and Tendulkar have the same standard. Since Tendulkar can speak English and eat Britania biscuits ( in the ads) and knows how to smash the opponensts ( in the Pepsi ads) he is more than qualified to lead this rookie team.
Bangladesh gain will be India's gain too.
anyhow cricket is a game meant for living fossils and Tendulkar is one

You Guys keep cursing the players but still keep watching the games for them to earn money out of their ad endorsements. Please stay away from India's cricket games. Try watching some other games!
Any team who chases 350 plus will fail to reach the target due to excess pressure, that too on final day. so dont be in front of ur tv's to watch this final day. sure you will be in trouble with headache and stomach pain (boiling)
We all forgot about a major factor. Sledging, if you watch carefully the English WK Prior along with cook and i think its bell where involved in a bantar. It kinda got into the nerves of Gangs and Karthik. This will be on today too!!!! So our players must watch out. I was also not happy with the way Bucknor just ignored when Karthik complained about the this. I think today will be no better and gangs will be targetted considering his aggressive temperment. It is all part of the English game plan and i hope Rahul Dravid and the think tank devices strategies for this. In a crunch situation anything can happen so it is better to be prepared then feel sorry later

India can win only if they bat well without loosing wicket for 2 full sessions. Dhoni's contribution is a big question mark..I think its impossible to win.
At this juncture i think we should appreciate the English Bowling. They are a totally inexperienced lot mostly 2nd string bowlers who are playing due to injuries to others. They have bowled with a lot of heart and home conditions have helped their cause. The bowlers also seem to be good front runners. It would be interesting if our batsmen take the attack to the bowlers. It will definitely be a test for the english bowlers.
Indian batsmen can take a cue from here. Though English are in a advantageous position, they would be nervous. Their bowlers like i said are largely second string and do not have the big match experience. Whereas we have Gangs who is batting now and VVS with loads of big match experience and this is the time they have to call upon that experience. Karthik and Dhoni should support them.It is possible whether it happens or not is another story
If India needs to win or draw, they should play FOR a win. If they play for a draw, it is 100% certain that they will lose the match. the players cannot stick on and on for that much time. they will definitly make some mistake and get out. so hitting out is a better option, which will also put England on the defensive, trying to stop the flow of runs. India must play for a win. But, a big But, India have lost Dravid and Sachin. Can we trust Saurav for that a long innings now? Either Saurav should make a 100 or Karthick a 150 plus, while the other keeps his wicket intact. if we can get to 230-240 before we lose Karthik or Saurav, the rest could be lapped up by VVS and Dhoni. Kumble is a big 0, and should come at 11 only.
I think, India shd try to win this match instead of saving it. Past records show when the chasing team play for a drwa in the fourth innings, they invaraibly lose the match. But if there are three possible outcomes, then there is more chance of match being drawn. As of now it seems England has 70% chance of winning it, India has 10% chance and there is 20% probability that the match would be drawn unless rain comes as India's saviour
Sachin Tendulkar proves once again that he cannot be a match winner. And I make this Statement that:
SACHIN TENDULKAR IS THE BEST BATSMAN IN THE WORLD. HE IS THE GOD OF INDIAN CRICKET. TECHNICALLY A SOUND BATSMAN AND A TREAT TO WATCH. BUT HE DEFINITELY IS NOT A MATCH WINNER FOR INDIA.
He hasn't proved his match winning instincts after the 1998 Sharjah cup final when India were against the Odds. So any Tendulkar Fan please comment

I am great fan of Sachin and will be for the rest of my life. If you look at the stats .. Sachin has contributed a lot to the team winning cause.
Out of 41 hundreds in one day 23 are for the winning cause. I have all the statistics and I have taken the pains to record each and every match in excel. Without proper analysis like all the other layman dont comment. Do you have valid statistics with you right now which you can publish.
Infact I had published my analysis on this forum but some miscreants removed that by using the abuse option. If you want I will mail you the analysis. Kindly give me your mail ID. Have a look at it and then comment.
Main reasons for not being match winner -
1. There has been no one in the history of cricket who has won match on his own.. there may be stray cases .. but not on regular basis. 2. Wait I know you will start with Michael Bevan .. I can only recollect 3 matches where he has won on his own. 3. There must be support from all the players as well as bowlers .. but in India's case there is very poor support. 4. Sachin is opener and to expect him to do what Bevan does by coming in at no.6 is highly impossible Sachin can only score runs in the openers position .. but not stay till the end .. highly impossible. 5. Lots of matches Sachin was the top scorer in the team scoring heavily but either bowlers or batsmen have let us down and not Sachin. 6. Sachin is the player with highest average when comes to Quarter, Semi Finals.

Mr. Rajesh, I was never a fan of sachin and i will never be.
But one thing what i have noticed is eventhough his centuries didnot help India in winning matches, it has almost taken India up to the brink. Fro that he should have gotten support from other team members. But unfortunately, he did not get that whole throughout his cricket life. So why to blame him alone.
If u compare his match winning abilities with lara or ponting or steve waugh, it is no way near. But the advantage for those players were that they got enough support from the tail enders in almost 80% of their matches they have won for their respective country.
So, according to me, it is not actually a fault of Sachin, when india didnt win matches when he had scored centuries. that responsibility lies with other batsmen too.

You definitely make a valid point, Hari. But let me take you back to the last series which India won against South Africa in an ODI.
1st Match: Sachin got out on 99. Yuvraj was the new man in. Sachin gave away his wicket when Yuvraj was getting set. We scored 230 odd runs. had sachin not lost his wicket and stayed their till the 48th over or even end of the innings or till Yuvraj got his eye in. But he lost his wicket at a crucial juncture and India lost the game.
2nd Game: India were cruising to victory and Tendulkar made 93 and lost his wicket when it was unnecessary. So that caused a few hiccups and then Yuvraj and Kaarthick saw us through.
I don't say that the other batsmen shouldn't be blamed. It's not Tendulkar loosing his wicket. It's about he loosing his wicket when not needed. Now after 18 years of cricketing career, if you don't understand these basic things then we have a problem. Remember when Gavaskar was the captain, he never opened. He came down the order and guided India to victory. Now Gavaskar is a genuine Opening bastman. Same with Shastri. These are men of honour. They adapt to the situation and this is missing with Sachin. So I believe that Sachin can be a good batsman, he can contribute to Indian victory. But he cannot deliver the final blow which is where Yuvraj, Kaif and Karthick are good. Here I mention Kaif coz I still believe that he is a good match winning batsman for India.

I WAS a fan, once upon a time but YES u r absolutely right about wat u say...his 37 odd tons in test matches, does anyone remember d matchwinning/saving ones????
Dat he will fail is a given, when India is batting to save a test match and/or in an ODI when India needs to score big batting second...

i just remember best test innings of Sachin was against pak in chennai if i am right. india lost that maych too but only after when sachin was caught... rest 5-6 batsman cudn't make around 20 odd runs..
