We are selfish
by shaji george on Jan 27, 2007 11:53 AM

Indian Team is representing for all the Indians not only for Marathis/Bengalis/Keralites etc.

We should not be selfish that our regional/states player should be in Indian team. Pick up the best (current) 11 from all over the country.

Dravid,Chappel,Pawer and Selection Committee are in Dirty Politics
by santikumar ghosh on Jan 27, 2007 10:54 AM

I am more than 100% agree to your message Dr. S. M. Sagar.Dravid,Chappel,Pawer and their coassociates for their personal interests are involved in naked dirty politics at the cost national interest. You may be remembering incident of recent result of third test in South Africa where in the first innings Ganguly and Kartick as opener made more than 150 run partnership and which led score more than 400 runs by indian team there but in the second innings in same match Rahul replaced Kartick by Sehbag as openning partner and lost the well set winning match just to show down Ganguly's performance. You will see the same thing will happen here in the 3rd and 4rth ODIs. The same dirty politics spoiled our hockey performance also.
British left india but kept Briticism with their Chamchas who are spoiling by ruling India in guise. You cannot get rid of these dirty things unless we dedicate ourselselves in character building process for our young generation both directly and indirectly by following the slogan "Involve,Interact and Transform" the system.Thanks.

Dravid is not confident
by D. M. Sagar on Jan 27, 2007 03:24 AM  | Hide replies

As we all know the selection comitee, Dravid and Chappel are doing lots of unwanted experiments. Dravid, as a captain is not confident and hence he is supporting all those crap experiments. Now it is working like a tent cinema. No player is sure of his position and role in the team. By the time a player finds his 'wavelength' the set of bafoons (Dravid and Chapel) will do their desired monkey experiments and the player will become a victim of it. Pity.

I wonder, is there no other cricket fans who are opposing this dirty drama?.
Ganguly was better as a captain since he built the team and he was pretty confident. he failed as a batsman - that is another story. Now Dravid is not at all confident in himself of building a team, the players are coming in and going out of the team like unidentified bees do.

Powar is busy with his dirty politics with Dalmia, and Vengsarkar and Kiran more are the kids in the fun.
Does anybody agree with me?

You are right. they should stop experiment and make a stable tream. Now no one (except dravid and sachin ) sure who will play the next match. so this will affect the performance.

I am fully agree with u, Mr. Sagar. its only two months remaining for the WC, but Chappel-Dravid and indian selectors still can't manage their 14 member team. they are still experimenting on. they select Jogindar Sharma and Power, giving them chance for one or two matches again they have been dropped. Kumble has been brought back again for one dayers to test him now. they couldn't find place for him in last two years?
Ganguly has been brought back after such a long gap. When he was just showing his form and momentum, he has been rested. If Ganguly has to play for the WC, he should be given as much chances as possible to get enough confidence in hims. some more issues arise: what will happen to Irfan Pathan (one of the most important players), Shewag and Kaif (both have been totally dropped?)
Actually, i am just showing how aggressive our caoch and captain are.
Ganguly was the best captain for tean indea, no one can be compared with him (Dravid can never be as good as ganguly), now its not possible to get back ganguly as captain, because, then many more things has to be changed.
Anyway good luck for the Indian Cricket Team for the WC.

Dr Sagar,
I totally disagree with you.It is not the question of experimenting. It is the formula to find out the right combination for the world cup based on the form and fitness of the players from this point onwards. If a player had showed promise in earlier matches and does not perform now what is the use of carrying him to World Cup.The Australians do the same thing. They select a team based on the present form of players and not on past records.
We in India are now trying to do the same thing except for Tendulkar. It looks like he will never regain his magic touch that he possessed a few years ago.He appears to be spent force.I dont understand why he is still in the team.Agreed he was a genius during his prime.Just b'cos he was one we can't keep giving him chances. As for as captaincy is concerned Rahul Dravid is doing a reasonable job in moulding the right talent.Ganguly was successful not b'cos of his abilities alone but b'cos of external factors like Dalmiya, etc where in he was given a free hand irrespective of results and his form.If he were the captain now,we will not even win against Zimbabwe.Rahul Dravis is more of a technician and should be encouraged instead of criticising.
All the best Rahul

Yes, I fully agreeing, that this is the crucial day to perform, after a trazedy last year with a hope but they (chappel n Dravid)are doing unmeaningful experiments.. It will result in the lose of confidence in not only the player but also in the management of the team.

Dear friends,
See the Ausies; We (BCCI) should learn from them. Steve did not per formed well - He was axed from captainy. Damien did not play well - Axed!! And, I am really wondering How they are able to produce only World Quality Match winners. BCCI, being the highest earning Cricket board in the World, why don't you (BCCI) find/produce such players. I think the infrastructure has to be improved. Should have a few more cricket acadamies. And most importantly the FITNESS of any player....BCCI should analyze why often the players fail to keep them fit!

Hi,
I agree with you.We should have some bouncy pitches in India like ones in Australia and South Africa and also like some pitches in Sub Continent. The Ranji Trophy, Irani Cup matches should be played in these centres and assess the quality of players before pitchforking them to the National team. This way we will know the real talent of our players and they will perform better when India tours abroad.

see as soon as ganguly came to nationla team, team india is performing verywell.
i think Sachin sholud be dropped when he is not playing very well. when ever he is not playing well he takes rest saying injury so that selectors dont get chance to drop him from national team. i suggest Sachin to concentrate on cricket and not on Ads.he spends more time in Ads rather than in net session.

The Ganguly hype!!!

I just dont understand the fuss with Dada this Dada that. I still remember the days preceeding India's trip to England in 1996. Ganguly was nowhere in the picture as far as selection is concerned. Nobody even talked about him. Then due to our miserable zonal policies he gets in.

He had nothing to lose and he played very well against one of the most mediocre teams England. Soon he becomes the "one and only hope" for bengalis.

See his scores, after England his only meaningful test innings came at Adelaide against all odds. Compare that to Laxman and Dravid both of whom have played many match winning innings.

He was dropped for the correct reason. After scoring one of the slowest centuries against a weaker than club side he attacked his coach in PUBLIC. All the coach did was to tell him he has to improve or else his place would be gone.

Now he has come back due to politics. And he played one or two good knocks none of which were match-winning. Now every bengali chink is gaga over him. They are attaking players from other states. If Ganguly is not there they will root against India.

Check the records Mr. Mcnair.Ganguly was in the wilderness for more than a decade after the Australian Tour during which he gave consistent performance for Bengal and East Zone. It was a toss up between an terribly out-of-form Vinod Kambli and Ganguly, and the latter one. Tell me was there anyone else?Dravid, in that tour got the nod and the loser was Laxman, who wasn,t scoring. While I agree that Dravid turned out a more consistent player, but there is no deying that Ganguly was no throwaway....you don't score 5000 runs plus if you are not classy.Ganguly got dropped....maybe for loss of form, but he was asked to return to test cricket in Pakistan, when he is definitely a better one-day player. Not many jokers have scored 10,000 runs in one-dayers either. Ganguly has his place just as Dravid,Tendulkar or Laxman. He is definitely a good, tough all round captain after Nawab of Pataudi.
Also I must add that there have been cases of unfair treatment to talented bengali cricketers because of politics....it is more glaring because Bengal did not have many stalwarts. Some of these stalwarts names may be unfamiliar to you....Shute Bannerjee, Subrata Guha, Dilip Doshi (got chance much more later),Ambar Roy..etc. So it is not surprising that Bengalees to go ga-ga over "Dada", and why not ?

decade? Australian tour 1992. England tour 1996. He was a big flop in Australia. He was the only East Zone player in that squad. Thats why he got in. Kambli had issues. That helped too.

I am sure there have benn instances of unfair tratmet to Bengali players. Indina cricket is dominated by Bombay, Delhi and Karnataka/Hyderabad. My state Kerala had zero players selected till the late 90s. But I did not stop supporting India, but I saw Bengal rioting after Ganguly was dropped for the correct reasons,

Tell me one thing, Will you be happy if your state's players are playing in team India and loosing the matches horribly? I guess you will be more happy if India is winning. Sachin, Saurav, Rahul are great players. They belong to this great nation first. Fighting like this will just show our narrow thinking. We are shameless guys. When it comes to money or jobs we are going to any states in India and expect everybody from that state to welcome you, love you. If you want India to become a super power we should unite first. It starts from us. Lets forget this politics of states and North-South quarrels. Good people are every where in all the states. Absolutely right! I still dont understand y the fuss over captaincy and ganguly. What India has to get is the right combination. juggling players at this critical moment is not going to take them anywhere. Even tendulkar should perform now. He has been a underperformer and getting out at mediocre shots. How can a great player like him be short of confidence for such a long time. Iam his die hard fan and i cannot see him fail like that. He should do smthing before WC 2007

Vengasarkar,Chappel,Sachin are all worried.Ganguly since his return to team India, has performed well both type of cricket. If Ganguly agin performs well in Chennai then these people are scare that all people will ask Sachin to be dropped. So this is a conspiracy against Ganguly.India will play with 10 players in WC as Sachin is just a player like NPA in banking he is NPP,non performing player playing only form money.Gavaskar will be there to praise him as he has already said that Sachin should play till WC2011.Dravid is a shameless captain who has no brain of his own and he is rubber stamp Captian. If such is the state of affairs of indian cricket then I doubt Team India will even reach SF in WC

Once upon a time i am great fan of sachin ... sometime i was praying for to score centuries.. But i realised that he is playing for his record and sponsorship.. How was the Indian team in after 1999 worldcup ... After Ganguly came to the helm, all the rules is changed.. Yes the young players are identified by the selectors and they were included in the team without any interruption from politicians.. Dada is the best captain.. anyway we wish good luck to the indian team for WC...

Sachin is not only a non performing player but also a bad influence to the indian team. The team gets de-motivated by the presence of such non-performers. When it comes to making quick bucks at the cost of the Indian team, Tendulkar is a super performer. BCCI is equally aggressive when it comes to corrupt policies.

Isint it fair to have the same rule for every1. We are no one to even speak about Sachin, Saurav or Dravid however if Saurav could be dropped then Sachin and dravid should have the same parameters. Regarding captaincy...no point in us talking about it as I guess even Saurav doesnt want it and morever whoever is the captain let's have one goal which is "Let India win the WORLD CUP"....
