Isint it fair to have the same rule for every1. We are no one to even speak about Sachin, Saurav or Dravid however if Saurav could be dropped then Sachin and dravid should have the same parameters. Regarding captaincy...no point in us talking about it as I guess even Saurav doesnt want it and morever whoever is the captain let's have one goal which is "Let India win the WORLD CUP"....

Vengsarkar gave a public burial to Laxman's career - something about getting run out...did u notice how he chimes with everyone else other than sachin? Vengsarkar is there with an agenda...Not to take anything away from Sachin or Agarkar or their past record, but aren't there guys sharper than them today? Laxman's exclusion is illogical. He is one of our best batsmen against pace bowling and good against spin too. The other seniors like Tendulkar,Ganguly, Sehwag have not done anything better than him in fielding. Neither have they done any better in batting especially abroad. And to prefer guys like Raina, Uthappa (talented youngsters but inexperienced in tough international matches) over him is utterly unjustified for such an important tournament as WC. This is no time for experimenting. The Australinas have always wondered how a high quality player like Laxman gets dropped time and again.
Lets not be under any illusion that Ganguly can open against the likes of Ntini,Pollock,Bond,Lee,Mcgrath,Shoaib etc. Both he and Tendulkar perhaps can be useful at No.6 or 7. Tendulkar is playing on borrowed time. He is way past his prime and doesnt inspire any confidence that he can face genuine pacers with the new ball. My team for WC would be,
Gambhir Dravid (he is capable of opening.. has done it before) Laxman Kaarthick Ganguly Tendulkar Harbhajan Kumble Zaheer Sreesanth Munaf
Reserves: Dhoni (I know he is popular but Kaarthick has better technique and is also a better keeper) Yuvraj (I am tempted to replace Tendulkar with him in the 11..) Agarkar Pathan
Let us not be carried away by our ODI wins against WI recently. We lost to them 1-4 in 2006 and got whipped by SA 0-4, one of the worst drubbings in ODI history. Its tempting to gloat over 338/3 but reality is otherwise. In WC, we need to make sure we send our best batsmen against pace bowling at the top.
guys...we are thiniking too much...The only reason for resting Ganguly is becuase he is in good form and Dravid and sachin still nees to regain form, so they still need to play the balance matches to regain confidence and also they are trying new players, for replacement in case of injuries...at this point of time for workcup we don't have strong replacements for Sacin and Drvid, so if we need to drop them from WC, do we have enough replacement? we don't have, so we need to give these guys a chance to regain their form....and also these two guys have always performed, they are just going through bad patch...which they will overcome for sure...sachin was always the highest scorer in last 2 WC...think broad and don't too much....keep it simple....

I do agree that its very difficult to get replace ment of Dravid or sachin. But i dont understand, y we are giving so much chances to Raina when he is not at all showing any maturity in his batting. I know some good players who are still waiting for opertunity including uthappa. Anyway selection is not in our hand. Just enjoy cricket.

Yes we do not have a strong replacement for Dravid. But, interestingly the under performing Sachin??? Did he ever win important matches for India? We have better batsmen than Sachin at present-say-Kaif, Raina, Dinesh Karthik so on. I wish like Sewahg, Sachin also should be axed.

Easy man, don't get too excited and jump to comclusions. The pitch demands Sachin to bowl. Saurav is medium pace bowler, his bowling will not suit in Cuttak. As far as state politics is concerned Dravid is from Karnataka and Sachin is from Mumbai. Please let us not talk regional language in cricket, its for one nation and we all should support every 11 player who play for our contry. No matter which state, caste or colour they represent. Please do not bring politics in this game we have enough politicians in our country. I appluad Dravids idea to let Sachin bowl, he is a clever bowler, but we need his batting more than his bowling. And I don't think even Vengsarkar can protect him from his bad form for a long time. Sachin has to answer his critics with his aggressive srtokeplay and attacking tactics. Remember Sharjah and WC match against Pakistan. We want the same Sachin back in action.

look at the way Sourav missed a direct hit on the second ODI. Even a club level cricketer would have hit the stumps. Stop bashing Dravid as he is the only batsman who knows how to bat in all conditions. Dravid gave bowling to sachin because the pitch is a slow one and it turns a lot. Saurav bowls medium pace. Its a known fact that BCCI is maratha stronghold..Mumbai based cricketeers are preferred..Looks like a Banana Cricketing Commitee of INDIA(BCCI)
Any cricketer incl Tendulkar has to be held accountable for repeated failures.. Look at Aussies..thay spare no one.
All Mumbai lads are given 1st pref : Wasim Jaffer,Munaf (because they shifted to Mumbai from towns in Gujarat)
Even average cricketers like Agarkar are given umpteen no of opportunities. How come the selectors axed top class cricketers like "Ganguly",Laxman, Zaheer Khan. Laxman is the best player against Aussies, ask Matt Hayden or Brett Lee.
But he always gets dropped by selectors on fielding..lapses..even though in the recent series he took great slip catches. He scored centurys in West Indies Win, South African Wins,Australian Test/ODI wins.
Selection comittee is openly biased..
Players who play to win or play crucial innings/wkts should be given preferance. They should give opportunities for growth for cricketers from all corners of india and only the best(ie; in form,records) should be given berths for World Cup.

Hey Man, thats to much of Venom in your words. Thoese days are over when regional politics was present. Look at News channels, if anyone picks a bad team no one will be spered from news channels. So have patients my friend. About Laxman, he is one of the best test players we have, if you think selectors are baised, then he would never have become Vice captain under Vengsarkar. Think man think before you write. Zaheer and Saurav were dropped because of good look how they have come back. Don't worry my friends Sachin and Dravid will be shown exit doors soon. Just give them some more time. After WC we will see lots of chops, if then also they don't get dropped then I will accepts your words. By the way everyone is talking about Sachin versus Saurav. No body is saying anything about poor Kaif and RP Singh. And nowdays there are very few players representing Mumbai, Sachin is alone representing in both test and One Day. Jaffer is good for Test, so lets not talk about his status in Test team.Agarkar is handy bowler, only because of his experience, he always nails couple of good wickets, although not exciting as Dhoni but he is a handy crickets. I shouldn't say allrounder or maybe Bowling allrounder.

Dear Prabal, i am also big fan of ganguly but when i heard the news that ganguly is rested, i became very happy. It means that our Dada has made it for the world cup.we, ganguly's fans should feel happy rather than to be worried. Once upon a time i am great fan of sachin ... sometime i was praying for to score centuries.. But i realised that he is playing for his record and sponsorship.. How was the Indian team in after 1999 worldcup ... After Ganguly came to the helm,all the rules is changed.. As well as the pitch in Nagpur is flat-one totally the pitches in West Indies. I think Saurav derves place in team and should be made VC. I think Sachin should have been dropped two years ago. From the overall selection it looks he has backing off Pawar , Vengsarkar and Gavaskar. Every player and artist should understand when to retire. IF he keeps dragging like that just for records and money , he definitly going to lose reputation. I think it is indian mentality that there is no word "enough" in their dictionary. Look at Lata M, Amitabh.. They were greatest artists but they suck in their late performances. Look at politicians, they can't even walk .
