Hello, Mr. Paniker, What you have mentioned in the article is absolutely true. I wonder where all the "Gentleness" of the game is gone? Is it only a money making machine of the modern era?
I know what this does to the big guns.. just fills their coffers. And the ordinary man? Well, just like any other enterprise in the country, just hopes without thoughtful thinking.

And I paid a FCKin' premium to watch the match 2dy @Eden(ok,ok, leme conceed, its still the BEST grnd in India fr its vastness, the din,the passion & YES the participation of the crowd)...bt alas I saw the frustration among the crowd & the HOPE on thr faces real time, tht the match wd strt agn!!! Y mk a mockery of thm???? The rain ws heavy enuf to cal-off the mtch @7PM bt they wr told to wait til 8:30PM ! SAD SAD SAD! DONT TK Indian crowd fr granted!! Pls

Sudeep, dont get me wrong. I totally sympathise with the paying public.
But can we at least once boycott the game by not going to the stadium and not watching the match on TV to teach BCCI a lesson so that they stop all this bullying and play with our emotions ????
Hence I said 'Be smart'. If you ask me, I have long stopped going to the stadiums and long stopped watching matches live on TV. I just follow the scores once a while.
Bcos this is a vicious circle. We pay through our noses to go to the stadium and like fools watch the match, rain; the players and BCCI become millionaires and laugh all the way to the bank and we remain the disgruntled lot. Can this vicious circle ever end ?
The article somehow suggests that authorities locked up the crowds to keep them in, long past the point where a sensible person would have sent them home ?????
The BCCI had not made it mandatory that people SHOULD watch the game and stay in the pouring rain. Any sensible person would take his/her own decision by judging accordingly and going home if he/she felt that way.
I dont understand whey we grudge the BCCI. Salute them that they know how to make the organisation rich and credible. Dalmiya was a visionary who brought money in the game. Pawar is doing equally good by making BCCI the richest sports body in India and the richest cricketing board amongst the cricket-playing nations. Both are equally good businessmen with brains. Why talk about Dalmiya v/s Pawar ? Why also talk about 'Bengal' v/s rest. Can we for once say we are all Indians ????
There was another similar article complaining that Mumbai players were getting into the Indian team while Ranadeb Bose inspite of a good performance was left out. Sure it was a good performanc by Bose but one can't be judge just by one good season. Stuart Clark of Australia made his test debut at 31 by performing consistently for 6 seasons ! Why are we in such a terrible hurry to blood youngsters who are high on potential but need to be given more time to sustain a good performance ?
My other question: Why do Bengalis always feel offended by one reason or the other ? Why do the Bengalis feel that the whole world is against them ? C'mon, no one is doubting Dada, in fact the whole nation was with Dada on the Dada v/s Chappell issue.
Anyway, let us all wish the Indian team all the best for the World Cup....
Prem, point well noted. Sharad Pawar (who cares a damn about the cricketing public in Kolkata)wanted to show his might over Dalmiya. And BCCI wanted to make money by announcing call-off late dening refund. Instead of cheering crowd shud have booed. But then who cares - Money and Power (read Powar) rule
Begal people who spent hard earned money by buying ticket by standing in que for hours, should ask the money back from BCCI or CAB.Will they do it and set an example for the rest of Indian fan?

its utterly true. people should demand a refund, or a portion of the fee, unless its expressely mentioned in the ticket that acts of god arent included. in any case its the greddy board without any accountability of any kind.
