i think the shrewd man called sunil gavaskar that is why doesnt opt for posts like selector coach etc...sunny continues to mint money with minimum of fuss, great foreign travels for icc meetings, writing columns, planning an indoor stadium for further earnings..and as if this was not enough also deploying rohan gavaskar to milk the ICL for money while he milks IPL...way to go gavaskar aap toh sharad pawar ke baap nikle!!!!

And India has been doing reasonably well. Too many cooks were spoiling the broth. Now without these experts the focus is back...
Many of your readers believe that that Maharashtrians are dominating cricket. But surprisingly, there are just or two Maharashtrian players in the whole team and their selection is undisputed.
Once upon a time there used to be a completely non-Maharashtrian cricket management, but the team had 7 or even 8 Bombay players (whether Maharashtrians or not) (the rest were the famous spinners) - the names that come to mind are Gavaskar, Engineer, Wadekar, Sardesai, Solkar, Sandeep Patil, Vengsarkar, Shastri, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Vinod Kambli, Karsan Ghavri, Mankad, Sanjay Manjrekar, Abdul Ismail...The list is long. Of course we have to include the unpalatable Agarkar.
The domination of Bombay on domestic cricket was so complete that the Ranji Trophy hardly ever left its cupboard in Bombay.
So is this regional bias in favor of Maharashtra real or imaginary?
This is a neutral question, so readers should not waste their time trying to find out where I am from - I am from INDIA.

selections should be based only on merit. example 1. Krish Srikkanth was dumped as captain even after drawing against pak in pak(tests). all indian captains before that lost in pak (he didnt score much runs in that series(1 poor series). But before that he scored heavily). But ganguly was the captain even when he didnt score runs for 2 years. Example 2. Hemang badani was dumped from One day team when his average & strikerate was better than that of both Kaif & yuvaraj (at that time) I dont think there is regional bias. But there are different yard sticks for different people by different selectors. i believe selections are not biased, but i am wrong.
All BCCI officials under Sharad Pawar are corrupt and dirty politicians. The whole bunch should be sacked and BCCI should only be run by able proffesssional administrators supported by the ex-cricketers.

deve gowda (sleeping selector- will wake up and ask for couple of farmers to be included into the team) Lalloo (to pick best corruptable players and his son into the indian team) Prakash Karat (to make noise and do nothing)
THEY HV THEIR WAY OF DOING THINGS. SELECTORS SHOULD MIND THEIR OWN JOB. WHAT IS THE USE OF TRAVELLING WITH THE TEAM WHEN THEY ARE ABROAD SINCE THEY HAVE SELECTED THE TEAM.

Not sending one selector is good coz it will prevent 1 more official from hanging around uselessly in the Dressing Room and irritating the players. Also it will save precious money and foreign exchange.
However 1 good step is matched by 26 bad steps.
Now we will have 26 officials going on a foreign tour ... why ? To have fun and make a total nuisance of themselves when they are there.
These bunch of jokers never miss an opportunity to make a fool of themselves and amuse the nation. They make an ideal circus team. One should not question their logic because non exists. Jai Hind
my team for first test 1. jaffer 2. kaarthik 3. dravid 4. sachin 5. ganguly 6. laxman 7. yuvraj 8. dhoni 9. sehwag 10. kumble 11. pathan
12th man rp singh
many eye brows will raise looking at the above team but the logic behind this is we dont have any express bowlers or match winner bowlers who can take 20 wickets to win a test in australia.
second thing if we can draw a test, that will boost our players confidence, and it will be a morale win for us.
third aus will try their best to give us a white wash...
so looking at all the factors this team can atleast draw a test in australi.

if australia bats first and bats for 2 days, who will do the bowling mate??
RE:RE:team for first test in australia
by shakaal on Dec 17, 2007 06:06 PM
@hk srikanth if aus bats for 2 days that means 180 overs kumble - 50 pathan - 35 sehwag - 20 ganguly - 25 sachin - 25 yuvraj - 25
my intention is to draw the 1st test or as many as we can..
and can u give me a list of bowlers who can bowl out aus in a single day...

in the first 2 days aus will score 1000 runs out of the above pathetic bowlers and bowl india out twice and win by an innings.
