Balwas Interview
by Navin Shahane on Dec 19, 2007 08:35 PM

Is it an interview? So silly and embarrasing questions to be asked to one of the great ODI batsmen in the world. Only last question is good ...

Anyway best of luck to Michael with ICL.

Then, you do the same to them. You have freedom to do so. Tit for tat, or giving them the same medicine as they give to you. Keep it that simple, and you will see different positive results.

hmm so how does it feel to be treated as an Animal in brisbane? Dude you must either not know what you are talking about or have the lowest self respect possible..on one hand you say "they never treat others as human" and then you sign off as "Rajeev from brisbane" ...if things are so bad..why are you in Brisbane?

Australia: Total Test Matches 689, Won 322. Win Percentage is 46.73%

India: Total Test Matches 352, Won 92. Win Percentage is 26.13%

Now choose whether you want superstars or a functional TEAM... by the way cricket is classified as a team sport.

Autralian infrastructure for sports like Cricket, Hockey,Rugby is probably the best in the world.there, in almost every small town or city suburbs, or main cities, there are large number of well built and well maintained grounds for the children to play. participation in sports is encouraged by schools as well as parents. is it the same in india? NO. hardly anywhere place for the children to play. horrible infra for sports. parents want their children only to become doctors and engineers and look down on sports as a career choice.their sports budget for each member of population is way ahead of what the Indian Govt allocates for us.over and above that the nepotism and politics that prevent the quality players from coming to top easily.ok!

so, lets analyse what we have, why we are not the top team and how to improve rather than commenting about a functional eam. for all you know, Warne WAS acting as a super star, had his running ego battle with the coach apart from having his drug/bookie contacts,Ponting was dropped for a match after a late night fight in a bar,Andrew symonds's drinking problem .It is not as if Sachin or Rahul or Yuvraj or Dhoni telling the fans to treat them as super stars. it is the media who are hyping these guys and making a business out of it.our team is better than Pakistan, NZ( 4 players dropped for smoking marijuna on tour), Engalnd( Fredalo-World cup) and west indies in terms of player discipline and on par with the best. Cool.

I have seen another significant difference.....in India, from childhood we play more of One-day cricket like game....and in Australia they play more of unlimited overs cricket more like Test cricket......i think this helps them become a better cricketers besides other things like infrastructure etc.

Let's no kid ourselves. Our problem is we never produced match winning bowlers. Even Kapil Dev was manacing till 1983-83, after that he wasn't good enough to single handedly win matches. Kumble is good only on tailor made wickets. Aus won because they consistently produce match winning bowlers. WI were champs because they had great bowlers. 1st and foremost you need good bowlers to win matches. I am not saying team effort is not important. Pak is a classic example of a team that under achieved even when they had excellent bowlers like Wasim and Waqar. And I think the reason is lack of team efforts! But in case of INdia, it's always lack of match winning bowlers.

I agree with your comments... After all, in order to win a Test match you HAVE to take 20 wickets, and we have (in the recent past) seen many examples of our bowlers' inability to force results unless the track suits them. That would explain the low winning percentage record --- many matches which would have been won, have ended up as draws.

we find a 16 yr capable of holding a bat then we push him into intl cricket n chant his name for the next 20 years.... so that he ll make all the records... if he was born in australia probably he would have made his debut when he turns 30 n made none of these records.....

its not abt individuals in aus... sometimes, its form more than class .....

Ponting came in when he was 21 years old when he made his debut and we all know that he took sometime to settle down in international cricket. Sachin took 17 tests to score his first test hundred. And, why do you forget he scored a hundred at Perth, which Allan Border has praised a lot. At that time he was 19 years old. Introducing Sachin so fast a good move and credit to him that he has survived so long. His best days have been when he was young. Cricket is a game for the young.

Toughest tour or Australia
by tamil troublers on Dec 12, 2007 12:05 AM  | Hide replies

I would like to wish each and every team member of India, best of luck for a very tough tour of Australia. Shaun Tait has touched 160 KM/hour on few occasions, while playing for South Australia in county cricket there and now has fully recovered from an elbow injury and raring to go against India. A very challenging task now. It will be the first time, world will see 3 bowlers in a team who have the capability to bowl over 150 KM, with one even around 160 KM.

Lee can also bowl around 150 KM/hour and he sharing a new bowl with Tait can make life hell for Indian openers. Michele Johnson also swings the ball very well with good speed and is expected to come as a first change bowler. We believe no single tour or a major tournament can be tougher than a full tour of Australia, where a touring team would be facing Australia constantly. Hayden, Symonds,Gilchrist and Ponting have said, that India is their favourite team to beat overtaking England in recent times.

With such a tough tour ahead, we wish and pray for the success of Indian team as only god can save India from Australia.

Who made the stars in Team India
by ganesh ganesh on Dec 11, 2007 06:00 PM

That is because of the bullshit media in this country that decides a player's career by creating unnecessary hype to make money for themselves... so many games have been forgotten by people because of this media trying to attract people with useless news about cricket everytime...they r driving the people by exploiting their weaknesses.
Remember, aussies are leading in tennis, swimming and all major sports and their media dont keep running behind their players 24/7 and make them stars.. time you guys get matured..
