cant undersatnd vengsarkar
BCCI has a set of rules which he was aware of.
He is a guy getting paid for a syndicated column by a agency which manages careers of a few cricketers--how can he be honest and unbiased.
He was the joker who said that india did not have bench strength, no youngsters etc--pooh pooed Gregs suggestion of youngsters and sent a mix of old/new and the result was there to see.
Another cunning ploy was to make sachin the captain hence sachin was VC--when sachin refused captaincy it was nothing to do with national interest but he wanted assurance of a long term which even vengy couldnt guarantee.
Plus as a selector he had no right giving sound bytes esp about Dravid--one cannot be petty, mean and pretend to be a messiah of indian cricket--he has got what he deserved--good riddance

BCCI and that Nrianjan Shah's high-handedness is more like moronic dictatorship. I dont know, why this Shah guy shows his ugly face in every team picture opportunity. He is not a cricketer and he has no business in being at the middle of team photos. You are supporter of this BCCI and make arguments for that looser, Greg Chappel.

What is that about results from Vengi's Team and that ruiner of indian cricket whose name starts with G.? It is not considered an invention to ask for an youthful team. Your Mr. G. has not found or produced a single talent that plays for the indian team. On the otherhand, the team that Vengi has put together has started perforing once the ruiner has left the team. When you talk about a bunch of old guys in the team, perhaps you should indetify atleast tow or three young talents that are bursting to replace the experience of Schin, Ganguly and DRavid. My guess is, you have none.

Get a life Mister.

These businessman and politians join hands to spoil cricket. Govt. should make a rule that only peaple from cricketing background, should be allowed to be in the BCCI or for that matter all local cricket boards in the country.

Agree with you completely. Crikceters should have a bigger role in managing cricket than politicians. First of, the Gov. must consider taxing the BCCI monies.

It is time to get some professionals into the managing cricket - like the Indian Hockey has the Aussie legend Charleworth as a performance manager.

Govt. should intervene ... BCCI & Selection Panel should be dissolved
by Reza Arif on Dec 04, 2007 11:31 AM  | Hide replies

BCCI & Selection Panel should be dissolved .. after choosing the team for the next series .. and Administrators like Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev, Sandeep Patil, Venkatraghavan etc. should be given the responsibility temporarily.

After which a professional body should be elected using all the Ranji & Indian players (Indian players ex & Current given slightly higher priority based on experience) in an open election. The contestants need not necessarily be International cricketers but could be proffesionals from any stream but who have a passion and understanding of cricket.

When non-proffessionals are given free hand to run an organization which require high degree of mnagerial skills these things are bound to happen. their ONE-POINT agenda is to hell with the sport, they their piece of CAKE.
Can any one ever explain as to what is the hitch in allowing proffessionals to run it which is meant for them.
Otherwise what can you expeect from guys like Pawars, Shahs, Shuklas....

When you are a chairman of selectors you cannot write in conflict of interest. You can't defend your decisions thru press while players are Gagged. You can't comment of players in columns because the Chairman of selctors selected them. This is very simple and BCCI is spot on here.Vengsarkar knew this before taking the post up. He should have stayed away if he thought his writing in papers is more imp. than becoming chairman of selectors. He wants to cut the cake, eat the cake, keep the whole cake and the bakery. Very unfair.

by Gopal on Dec 04, 2007 11:28 AM  | Hide replies

Pawar is a politcian and he will use all tricks in the trade. The sport is getting ruined. All cricketers should boycott any BCCI offers and positions and refuse to bow down to diktats. Let there be more transparency in BCCI operations
