why india is biased against bowlers
by raju on Aug 18, 2007 01:11 AM  | Hide replies

no stable bowling lineup yet after all these yrs. look at the bias. a tendulkar, a ganguly or a dravid is allowed to get out on zero or single digit in a game. and a bowler like agarkar goes for 6 runs an over in one game(equivalent to getting out for a low score) and talks are there that he is under pressure??? no wonder noone wants to become a bowler in india.

I am surprised too he was most successful bowler last year when England visited India, and then on West Indies tour.
Not sure why it takes just 1 game to throw him out.

(1) Include Sewhag
(2) Yuvraj should be captain
(3) Sreesanth, Uthappa, and Chawla deserve to play non-stop. They create hope and promise for future, above all they bring a unique talent to entire team at vey young age.

England Lions team is a very average team!!
by Utpal Parekh on Aug 18, 2007 12:59 AM

Should be a walk in the park for India!! With the exception of Owais Shah, Ian Bell and Ravi Bopara, i do not see any international class batsman!! Bowling also seems to be ordinary!! Maybe Jon Lewis is a good bowler while Kirtley is finished at international level, he being 34!!

The biggest mystery in indian cricket..
by Deepak EV on Aug 18, 2007 12:55 AM  | Hide replies

..is AGARKAR..He can be deadly on his day, but that day comes once in a blue moon..every other day he gets belted black and blue and eventually gets "dropped"...only to be picked up for the next series !!. Ever wondered how many times this guy has managed to stage this comeback ?..Thatz the advantage of hailing from "one particular zone" of india which holds indian cricket at ransom !!. Unless this ends, trust me..the breakaway group..the ICL is going to run over BCCI.

Why dont people understand? Agarkar has never been dropped. He has only missed out in ODIs when injured. Otherwise he is at least in 14. Ganguly as captain preferred Nehra and Balajis ahead of him in the 11 now Dravid prefers him in the 11 ahead of RP Singh and Sreesanth. And he is better than other average bowlers on performance..281 wkts dont come by mistake in international cricket...
If you dont like him, it's your choice...But dont write stuff based on ur anti-mumbai mentality...Have an indian mentality...Like or dislike people based on performances..

I totally agree with Deepak.
I dont think Agarkar would have got half the chances if he wasnt from Mumbai.
The guy made five consecutive first ball ducks in Australia.
That's a first for any cricketer in the world and will be for some time.
If it was any other player,he would never got a chance for the rest of his life.
And what about his fitness ?
The guy looks like he is exhausted after he bowls two overs.
He always looks like he is about to faint.
He doesnt have any energy to even appeal or be aggressive in his bowling.
He should eat some food before thinking of playing cricket.
Its primarily the politics played by the Mumbai Board and their effort to dominate Indian cricket that has prompted other boards to play politics.
We can only hope for the betterment of Indian cricket that Sachin,Sharad Pawar and the entire Mumbai lobby is gone as soon as possible.

this guy satish is an idiot. i am sure he must be from good old madras who just like to criticize others without looking at their own self. they had a bowler called bharat arun who has the distinction of slipping over when he bowled his first ball in intnl. cricket. ha ha ha.

u know wot andrew leipus used to say? agarkar lifted the heaviest weights in the gym. he has tremendous inner body strength which allows him to bowl fast even though he has wiry frame. whenevr i see a ODI match his name always comes at the top of fastest indian bowlers of the match. and his throws from outfield are the best that i have ever seen for an indian fielder. fast and dot accurate on top of the stumps. this is not possible is he dosen't have great body strength. always gives his 200% on the field.
great to watch.

checks the stats. agarkar has performed best among indian ODI bowlers from 2006 april. go to wwww.cricinfo.com and check each and every match he played from apr 2006 onwards.

do that and come back. before that stop posting tripe here.

and he staged numerous comebacks even when dalmiya and bengali lobby was rulign indian cricket. the problem is he is dropped unfairly for some aira gaira and then he has to be called back. till now noone is there in ODIs in last 10 yrs who can provide early breakthroughs consistently like agarkar.

The biggest mystery is why do people not accept the overwhelming superiority of Mumbai!!
Why do you say "Particluar zone", why don't you have the guts to say Mumbai??
Ofcourse we have been Ranji Champs a record number of times!!
We steamroll opponens from the north, south, east!! Hell, we have won the Irani trophy a number of times!! Whcih means we are good enough to beat the best across India!!!!

So, logically the players from Mumbai will win lions share!!

Te biggest mystery for me is that how do jokers like Joginder or average guys like Uthappa make it to the team!!

Agarkar is too consistent, thats why he has taken 284 wickets at 1.5 wickets per match!! If he were to perform once in a blue moon, then you won't see those stats!!
So, what you said is not true!!

no biggest mystery is that mumbai was ranji champions in 2003 and 2004 and still had only tendulkar(well he is a national icon and not from mumbai i will put it like that) in the team from mumbai. the answer is dalmiya and calcutta lobby was ruling then and mumbai got a raw deal. jaffer, poward had been consistently perfoming even then in domestics and got a chance only after mumbai lobby again came back to power.

Mr. Atul Thakur you forgot that the records which came from Mr Sachin Tendulkar was when he opened the innings. He did fail as an opener when the team needed him the most. You see, the players which you mentioned, apart from Jayasurya all other players did not come to open the innings. Their records came when their team needed the most, and that's why they are admired so much by their teams and Mr. Sachin is targeted by common people like us. You talk about statistics and you didn't see when India needed Sachin Tendulkar the most he failed. You forgot Mr. Ashish Nehras bowling against England in the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa. He played with a twisted ankle and he was the actual winner of that match. If he wouldn't have played that match after the injury that match was gone out of our hands and reaching Semi Finals would have been a distant dream. Am I right?.... Mr. Atul?

I wonder what other 5 batsmen did in every match that tendulkar failed in 99 and 07 WC..Dravid was top scorer in 1999 WC but what happened..India had only one big achievement i.e. beating Pak...otherwise they even lost to Zimbabwe...
So all teams know if tendulkar fails, there is good chance of beating india..Doesnt matter how others play because they usually play slow and selfish for just showing their performance, not a match winning performance...like GAnguly against Bangladesh in 07...there is a long list of such performance...

So now the selectors wants to axe Dravid and end his career. Why not Ganguly, Tendulkar and the stupid Agarkar. Just becoz they have regional fanatics. The thing best about Dravid was that he is focussed on the game, a true professional. Unlike Ganguly, Tendulkar whose performance has retarded with the age, Dravid is consistent all throughout his career and he was a guiding factor for India. The mistake which Dravid made by not imposing follow-on was also done by Tendulkar,Ganguly.

RE:Here come politician indian mind again
by Gmail vs Rediffmail : Whois is better ? on Aug 18, 2007 12:39 AM

Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Dravid is selfish. he did not rest himself against Scotland which was a weak team. He rested himself against a strong Home side team. much stronger than scotland.

Do you know Why ?
because missing a ODI means 1/2% of decline in his ODI rankings.

So he rested Tendulkar & Sourav in ODI so they do not grow in ODI ranking rapidly.

Forget Dravid being a good captain, who won the series gainst England.
This was the first series ever when all the 6 batsmen scored and all the 4 bowlers bowled well. check the stats.

So when every player in the team was performing, it is easy to win.

But look at that Dravid wasted the last test win to avoid a killing 2-0

so theres your answer to those fools who were saying dravid was stupid to captain against scotland, and that dhoni should have. guys, dravid, and the other senior players for that matter, are not stupid. if they have picked dhoni as captain, theyre not going to throw him in the deep end. maybe some of u didnt know we had one more practice match, and u suddenly jump to conclusions that dhoni was overlooked as captain for it. here is his chance, and i hope he does well, although ganguly may have a big role tomorrow in helping him with decisions, especially as he'll be operating from behind the stumps

Yes. It is a good time for Dhoni to mature as a leader and as a player. And I like the way you look at things as a team work. Gunguly has a huge role to play still for indian cricket.
Dravid probably also played the scotland game beacuse he wanted to play as he played there with them and they respect and love having him around playing.
