i think what ravi said is correct.he is in this field from the past 25 yrs r so.he is a straight forward person tells every thing on face.he never hides any thing.every one knows his commitment towards game.i agree that what all he said.india should open with sachin and veeru.

one thing i want to know that when veeru is failing continously y wont our managment give him some time to get him into form.he needs some match practice.let him play ranji matches .if he proves his matle back him.if not through him out(no dought he is agood player and a match winner).there are many players in the race to play for india.so let them give a chance.

hope this happens in indian cricket history.

hitting the nail right on its head

Ravi has hit the nail right on its head, with Sachin playing at the top, and with the inconsistency brought in by players like Yuvraj, Mongia, Dhoni; we need 'The Wall' in between not at the top. Its time Chappel & Co realize this. Also I think we have had enough of experimentations to imbibe flexibility and now we should get back to basics to Rock@WC.

request to BCCI

His ideas and suggestions are too good. i go with his views on experimentation on our batting slots.Absolutely he is write by saying to stop the experimentation.if u look back since past six months we have been losing the matches more by our experimentation and not by opponents better performance.Hope BCCI,Dravid and Chappel take Ravi's suggestion seriously.

All the best for indian cricket team

Girish

He is right in all respect, but shouldn't we want an experianced pace attack, a guy like zaheer should be good for the benifit of the team. Middle order in the batting line up should be more strenghtened. To Mr. chappel " please stop this experimentations for god's sake"

Dravid and his role
by Shekhar Kale on Sep 28, 2006 11:17 AM

Sehwag has been 'found out'. It was so obvious while watching the Malaysia Tri-series that Sehwag was getting out on a specific ball - in cutter coming on to middle stump. Time and again, he got out on the same ball since last so any matches.
I don't agree that Tri-series was hiccup. It is a part of pattern. Our bowling has been exposed since Pak series. We won against Pak only because of our batting. We lost in WI because of bowling and WI bowlers were better than Pak bowlers.
The heartening part is emergence of Munaf Patel. at he needs about at least a year's time.
I don't agree that Dravid's batting position was a blunder. Consider the situation here - SRT is coming back from injury, Sehwag is not scoring. There has to be a batsman at the top who can stay for 50 overs. We have only 1 such batsman - Dravid. Why hold him back ? Why not give him all the time to settle down. But it made opposition to focus on 1 batsman. Dravid let bowlers mark him so that others can bat without pressure.
Mr Shastri himself knows about these pressures. He was a batsman who would hold one end. We all admired him in that role. Why does he need to critisize Dravid for the same role ?

It is the Captain's prerogative to decide on the batting line-up, or which of the two should open. Sehwag is not in the best of form. Indian battling line-up has ONLY three good batsmen. The rest are undependable to make sizable contributions. Under the given situation Dravid, the Wall, opening is a positive approach.

Ravi Sastri's article

Ravi has a point. Dravid is too good a player to be wasted as an opener. Although Sewag's form is as fickle as the proverbial English weather,he needs tobepersisted with in the hope that he will come good.
Ravi is absolutely right when he says that Irfan should not go as one drop batsman. His place,if he can retain one,is much lower down. Irfan's bowling has been totally wrecked and he does not seem to be anywhere near getting over his problem

Dravid as opener was a blunder...

Agree completely with Ravi, as his expert comments are very well thought and expressed. I wanted to disagree slightly with Ravi on the comment that the best fielding side inevitably wins the WC. If that was true Pakistan, Sri Lanka (of course a pretty good fielding side, but not the best, particularly in the Ranatunga era) and India may not have ever made it there. Fielding is key, but you have to look back and say what the likes of Imran, Border, Ranatunga, Kapil, Steve Waugh brought into the field was that extra bit. That is where you will go back to what Ravi talks about Dravid needing to draw a line - knowing him, will that ever happen!? Time for experimentation is gone. The fact is that the successful nucleus in Yuvi-Sehwag-Kaif are also failing, forget the building up of petential. Barring Agarkar & Harbhajan we have rarely seen growth in our folks. Hoping that Vengsarkar's introdcution will bring in some sanity!
