Ya, its correct
by manjunatha y.d on Sep 27, 2006 10:11 PM

As our cricket legend said, its time for dravid to consider his batting order, its really very good suggestion.. we dont want to see any more blunder again. DRAVID's role as captain largely depends on other players performance bcoz we had seen how bad is his form now, better give opening slot to VEERU again.

Rahul Dravid as Opener - a blunder ?
by S Chakraborty on Sep 27, 2006 07:05 PM

More than that - Rahul Dravid as Captain - A HISTORIC BLUNDER !!!

Ravi Shastri is right when he says that bringing back Ganguly, Kumble and others for the WORLD CUP will be wrong - and that is bcos the present Indian Team Members r already a bunch of CONFUSED LOT, what with the merry experimentation going on with them.

However, why were players like Ganguly, Kumble and their like ousted or dropped ? Just WHY ? That there wasn't a better captaincy material or an attacking bowler was ALWAYS EVIDENT !

Anyways, THE INDIAN CRICKET TEAM will always remain that - A POTENTIAL WORLD BEATER - not a real one - with people like Dravid, Chappel, More, Pawar and their ilk at the helm of affairs of Indian Cricket.

Ravi Shastri's comments
by Yogesh Hasabnis on Sep 27, 2006 06:49 PM

It seems that Ravi Shastri believes that he knows more about cricket than some other experts in this country. May be he is more knowledgable than Gavaskar. It seems that he very honestly believes that Dravid has it in him to be a good captain. Whether it is true or not, only time will tell. I, an ordinary cricket follower, believe that Dravid is a very ordinary captain and I am not able to find anything in him that makes me believe in his leadership skills. You can pretend about many things. But you can pretend to be a good captain. Scoring centuries, chatting with the media people in polished English, are certainly all great assets, but they don't make anyone a successful cricket captain. One has to do some simple things right to be a good captain. I dare say Dravid is by no means a good captain. I certainly don't have the authority to challenge somebody like Ravi Shastri on cricket. But only time will tell whether R. J. Shastri 's belief about Dravid's captaincy is right or wrong. i believe that Sourav Ganguly has to be brought back not only as a player but also as a captain if India wishes to do well in the 2007 world cup.

disagree wth mr shastri
by abhijit on Sep 27, 2006 06:35 PM

hello mr shastri,

hope u r fine and in happy modd as mr mumbaikar sachin tendulkar back in the side.isnot it ?i know it is .i never found u a player.i donot know how u got to play for our beloved country.only coz of u r mumbaikar.i think u got my point.

if tendulkar plays after many a flop show then where is the wrong to give mr ganguly a chance?if u go to the stastics many times india lost, whenever the great tendulkar get a century.but in sourav ganguly's case india won many matches.

and my another point is----why u r soft on sehwag.he is not among runs not even kaif so why not u support to throw them out of the team and say them to prove themselve in the domestic matches .why this double standard.coz u r mumbaikar.and i m an indian.

got it-----thnx.

dravid as opener
by harish on Sep 27, 2006 06:34 PM

ravi shastri is very true. despite having big gun "veeru" in the team, sending dravid as an opener was a big blunder. may be uncle chappel will learn something from his last mistake. 1st ganguly and now dravid.cricket is losing its spirit. most of the cricket lover's are discouraged with all these experiments. if india wants to stand somewhere ib world cup, uncle chappel should stop experimenting specially with veeru, sachin and rahul.

the real problem
by srijith on Sep 27, 2006 06:17 PM

It is natural that when things go wrong there will be criticism...let us be realistic...when we won the matches...the main contribution was from Yuvraj, raina, Dhoni... This time, these guys played in the same middle order...but did not click...so there was not enough runs on the board...

HIREN KUKRETI
Indian Cricket

India & Pakistan are the best team alongwith Australia, good to see this sort of faith in the Indian team, whereas the whole of the Indian team lacks faith in themself.
Should we wait for Virus faith to click till when ? World cup is fast approaching and we are yet running from pillar to post looking for suitable partner for Dravid? Shewag? or Sachin.
The middle order is again a disaster. Our bowling lineup is again a big question mark, who and when ? DLF cup should shown some positive sign for our preparations for the Champions trophy, but the whole tournament was pathetic as far as Indians performance is concerned, here also Sachin gave some solace to to the fans, why can't we concentrate on our job rather than doing extra crricular activities, a team of 11 members have been shattering the emotions of 110 million people.

Shastri's remark
by Provansu Saha on Sep 27, 2006 05:52 PM

Whatever Ravi has said now, it's the complete reflection of Sachin's thought. It's well known that he is not only the mouthpiece but also mastermind behind Sachin's planning.

Dravid as opener was a blunder ,by Ravi Shastri
by Dr(Major) B C Nayak on Sep 27, 2006 05:04 PM

The very first blunder was committed by Mr Ravi Shastri himself;and that was "having chosen Chappel
as our coach."I think we Indians are better off without a coach. For the world cup we should select bowlers who can also bat, in case of utter failure of our middle order.Hope everything will improve with
Mr Vengasarkar,a very matured, seasoned, and unbiased player as the Chairman of selection committe.

Experimenting in the Indian Team
by Bomi Billimoria on Sep 27, 2006 05:02 PM

I whole heartedly agree with Ravi Shastri. The Indian team seems to have realised by now that the potential of certain players lies at their correct slots and the experimentation period is OVER. If the combination does not click now, it might be just a little bit too late.
They (players) need to gel as a team.
