Win or lose is always there. i dont mind losing at all.i have been a sportsman myself. even at the age of 65 i am playing golf with a handicap of 11. why i have mentioned all this is only to convey that i am not against losing. but losing like this is a shame.there is no fire in their belly. they get too much money for too little. they are all stars and need to be stripped of their cricket charity money. charity money because they are not earning it. which team in the world gets this kind of money? see new zealand, australia and even west indies. they have a purpose and a game plan.and what do we have hype and hype and thats it.al our cricketers want to yap. the media attracts them and they think that by talking to the media they would reach out to people at large. a down right cheap gimmick.let them play for their lives and they would perform. bring them down from cloud nine.and the public should also teach them a lesson or two. turn their back at them and see what happens. stop all earnings from commercials and let them slog it out.it is a shame to watch them.

Alarming Call

I am not writing this just because India lost one more match! It is high time that Indian think tank change their whole startegy. As World Cup is fast approaching, stop this drama of experimentation for time being at least.

Drop all non-performing players, irrespective of their past records. For example, Sehwag has had too many chances inspite of non-performance and still remains in the team.
If there is any amount of interest left to bring back the world cup, it is high time authorities take much needed initiatives.

Your article should have been titled - India beat WI. Both teams were desperately trying to loose the match. Finally India managed to successfully loose the game.

India's loss to W.Indies
by HRS Mani on Oct 27, 2006 08:38 AM

Poor team selection and poor captaincy cost the match for India. Australia, W.Indies, S.Africa, England and N.Zealand are vulnerable against spin bowling and we Asian countries are not comfortable facing fast bowling. This is the truth everyone except our captain knows. For the fault of Raina for dropping the catch, Pathan was punished for not giving a second spell till the end of the innings. Funny Dravid he is guided by emotions and not reasoning. Poor strategist. God save our cricket.

time to fire ajit agarkar..
by Kumar on Oct 27, 2006 07:57 AM

doesnt he know that he has to ball fuller or yorker lenght in the depth overs... why he always tries for short ones and executing it very badly by giving them a load of width even I cud go and hit 4 for that..
Ajit agarkar doesnt have any attitude, he doesnt put his mind in bowling .. he maiden 3 balls he just need to york the ball n give singles..he consistently give a 4 each over he bowls..
he is a test match bowler no where eligible to be in one day.

Team India...Great Selectors...Great Coach...Great Captain

It is a pity that we lost to WI....This is the point that team india needs to change the captain, coach and few players..I am a fan of ganguly...Take him and give captaincy and team india will perform better...But dont include ganguly for 1 match and tell him "if you dont score in this you are out"..give him a series and see his batting..

Ganguly's exclusion is probably not good, but it is for sure that he cannot make it as a captain. If you look at Ponting, G Smith, S Fleming and even Lara, they all are good captain-batsmen. But Ganguly isnt. Being a good leader can't do anything to the team unless the leader himself isn't doing what he is a professional at. Ganguly should be given a chance as a batsman but captain is a no-no.

Indian bowlers need discipline!
by Raj on Oct 27, 2006 06:49 AM

Indian bowlers should have learnt from their West Indian counterparts and bowled much desciplined bowling. Only Patel seem to have done that. Agarkar, despite of his huge experience, did gave Windies batsmen one loose ball in every over till the end! The reason why he can never claim a permanent position in the team.

Indian batsmen looked nervous. Hats off to the dynamic Dhoni though, my first opportunity to have seen him in action since I moved to Australia.

I am not sure for how long we have to see Sehwag failing. In fact I saw him for more time on my TV doing the 'dunt-munjan' advertisement showing his teeth than occupying the crease. Well mate, if you dont start to perform consistently soon, then I can see another Ganguly case in offering!! I personally would drop him from the world-cup squad if he does not perform during the last league match against Australia and the forthcoming South African tour.

Can't wait to see India play Aussie on Sunday and although I am an Aussie myself, I support the team of my parent country to beat the team of my adopted country. Hope we have a good competetive cricket in offering on Sunday with India emerging as winners. Cheers.

Windies beat India for semi-final berth
by Dr.S.Das on Oct 27, 2006 06:29 AM  | Hide replies

The manner in which India is playing the Champions Trophy will surely raise doubt over its performance in forthcoming World Cup.What has the coach done to the team? The players who are out of form are being given repeated chances .Sehwag will never improve and the team management will never drop him.Bowlers like Ajit Agarkar who have played so much International cricket still do not know how to pitch up the ball in the last over against West Indies.Enough of nonsense.Look at the condition of new pitches laid under the supervision of BCCI.If this is what the new BCCI means by cricket then I am sorry lot more bad days are yet to come.

I agree completely. But I just don't think their is anything G Chappell has done. Sure his training method is probably tough, but at the end of the day its the players who have to go out and play! So we just can't blame the coach for the mistakes Indian team is doing! Also, you always learn when u make mistakes. So therefore, its the players of the team who won against Sri Lanka and Pakistan under this coach who have to improve.
