Wastage of time
by Radhakrishnan on Nov 30, 2006 10:53 AM

It was really ironic to post the article on Major Manish Pitambare's brave deed after the article on the lac luster & timid performance by the Indian Team. Further more, the Indian team members will get their due (in lakhs & crores ofcourse!) irrespective of their performance. On the other hand the wife, kids and family members of the slain officer will have to struggle for every thing. Let's stop wasting time and money on this mad money spinner and get down to samething serious.

Nothing to say
by Manish Gathani on Nov 30, 2006 10:43 AM

There is nothing to say any more. We rather accept that our team standard is better than (may be) Kenya, Bangladesh, UAE but team India can not beat any other team. Lets concentrate on other game.

Dear Editor - Media needs to address the main problem
by Sushanta Bala on Nov 30, 2006 10:18 AM

Dear Editor,

Enough is enough, you people made so much of gentlemen like talks. Its high time you clearlu say that:

1)Anti Ganguly brigade leaded by More, Chappel, Dravid, Dungarpur to settle their personal scores have done unpardonable harm to Indina cricket? Even till yesterday, their mindest, as the picked up Laxman ahead of Ganguly, show that they have a mental bloke against Ganguly. Personal feelings should not be above the national interest. Kindly make a campaign highlighting this.

2) With the team's confidence at rock bottom, any sensible person will think to make Ganguly the captain. How does it matter if there is a forced decision to make Dravid captain upto World cup? Chappel's term can be cut short because we have to pay him the contract money anyways. Chappel is required to be removed so that Ganguly has no problem assuming leadership. Still, if these decisions are tough, then BOTH Chappel and Dravid need to demonstrate, through their public statement, that their attitude towards Ganguly was wrong.

If you address what written on these two paras above, Indian crcicket will be greatly benefited.

Regards,

Sushanta Bala

India's Sorry Batting Tale
by Thomas Fernandes on Nov 30, 2006 09:56 AM

I do not understand why was Dinesh Karthik preferred in the scheme of things, a specialist Wicket-keeper, who was struggling even to field and throw from mid when we had Batsmen like Dinesh Mongia who is an allrounder. Can the Team Management explain?

Its better Team India is revamped and Coach sacked for his expriments, which were too much and is showing by way of its performance.

My advice, Sack the Foreign Coach and appoint an Indian Ex-Player as a Coach.

India's performance in S.A.
by V. Menon on Nov 30, 2006 09:52 AM

Don't you think that, if only to regain our old confidence and self respect, Indians should confine themselves to play test matches and ODIs with Kenya, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in that order?

Who is laughing - Saurav Ganguly?

Recall Gangully
by Sandeep on Nov 30, 2006 09:51 AM

This has been a dismal performance (loss in 4th ODI) by the Indian team. There is no point in blaming the coach if the players donot play well. But, Greg Chappel must be shown his place for making such comments on Indian politicians. Senior players like Gangully and Laxman have to be brought back to the one day team to restore some pride. Gangully and Laxman should also be included in the test team before the South Africans rout us in the Tests too. Mr. Vengsarkar are you listening ????

Sorry Mr. Chappel
by Hemant on Nov 30, 2006 09:51 AM

The way our battesmen played today showed they don't have any determination. Sachin cannot pull his bat away,Jaffar gives a silly catch practice thinking he was playing against Baroda, even a seemingly set Sehbag hits that famous chapati shot into the diving hands of the young Bosnan,Kaif goes for a run which his partner retracts. The game was finished here.
Before that, the no-ball that Sreesanth bowled and got Gibs to pull into the hands of Sehbag, showed the day for India.
Yes, nothing was right for India.Chasing 244 in this wicket should not have been difficult. But the team did not have that motivation and determination to reach that target.Let Chappel do all his experimentation in the fifth and final game. All Chappel supporters who shout that he was not playing the game, can they open their eyes and see that it is nothing, absolutely nothing being done from the coach to inspire the team and make them determined to win!Sorry Mr. Chappel, coaching is not your cup of tea! It is high time you book your ticket back to your farm house in Australia!

Rebuild the Indian Team
by DLN. Sastry on Nov 30, 2006 09:48 AM

Let us face some harsh realities. We are too late now to asseble a team for 2007 WC. What we have to do now is to rebuild. Start the process immediately by kicking Raina out. Drop Sehwag & Kaif. Tell Sachin to take retirement. Let Kumble contemplate retirement after WC. Put Harbhajan on notice. Now is not the time for velvet glove approach.

Self introduction by Sachin before coming on to bat, rihgt hand batsman, RIGHT HAND BOWLER sounded pitiable. Why should he stoop so low as to project him-self as a bowler & try to hang on? Now is the time for him to seek an honourable exit.

Calling back Ganguly will not help. But BCCI appears to be yeilding to political pressures. It will be a blunder.

Bring back Laxman, Gambhir, Nehra. Retain Jaffer. Let Yuvraj be back only when he is fully fit but not before. Bring Balaji, Utappa, Murali, Badri, Puyush & Badani based on available slots. Give all of them, including Laxman & Jaffer fair runs to settle/resettle. Sehwag & Company were given countless opprtunites to perform but failed.

Link remuneration to performance. Workout & implement a tight schedule to revive & rebuild the national team for contests beyond WC, not just for WC.
