India-WI ODI

What do we call this - lack of application, anxiety over losing, lack of form of key players? Whatever you call, all the boasts of Team India and BCCI prior to their departure for WI were proved hollow. WI had nothing to lose and they played a care free game, with no fear or anxiety over losing. Of all the batsmen Dhoni and Raina belied the expectatins.

This is the BCCI cricket team not Indian cricket Team. There are different guidelines for different players for selection. Indian politicians never have any principal and that reflects now in Indian cricket. They can sack anyone without any cause as they sacked three selectors as soon as they won election.
They can back wrong horse for their own sake. I cannot support BCCI cricket team.

Now a days every team have computer video analysis's to find out the week points of every player and then they plan to resist his performance. All experience players changes their style of cricket instantly to counter these plans. But most of the new comers fail to do so. A year to go before next World cup Opponent team management will plan to stop these young players at the right time and then Indians playing for BCCI team will be in such a position that they would not be able to perform to their abilities.

Hence, I am sure that Indians will not be able to reach World cup final.

To

The Indian Coach Mr Greg Chapel

See.. Cricket is a gentle man sport and is expected to be played in the most gentlemanly manner.... We could see in India - West Indies match, our young fast bowlers indulging in bad getures like staring etc.... which we feel as somthing donated by you to Indian cricket..... for the sake of the game and taking into consideration the Indian money u are taking pls don't teach them these bad manners... let India cricket be as it is and teach them only technical aspects...

I disagree with the comments blaming Chappell and Dravid for the defeat though I feel captain and coach must take responsibility for the defeat as they took credit for victories.

A coach can only tell you what you are doing wrong and what you need to do. It is the players who need to practice on the field what has been taught and if they fail to do so it is wrong to blame the coach for it.

Folks cricket is a team sport and for a team to win all 11 have to put in their 100%. A brilliant performance by 1 or 2 may win you a few games but not always.

I'm sure Sourav Ganguly's presence wouldn't have made any difference to the final outcome.

We have to accept the fact that you win some and you lose some and this time around our team just lost the plot and never got adjusted to the conditions. They also failed to learn from their mistakes and kept repeating them.

I hope Indian team will learn from their mistakes and show a better performance here on.

Dravid's men in blue had started to run even before they could walk
by S.SENGUPTA on May 27, 2006 12:16 PM  | Hide replies

what transpired at port-of-spain is only to be expected. Mr Dravid & Mr Chappell had started to behave as though they were the masters .Undermining the Windies in their own backyard was the biggest mistake!!! This windies team which had been bashed up by all and sundry still had had the resolve to put India in where they actually should be!!
Our so-called allrounders neither could bat nor could bowl .Mr Pathan could hardly get the ball to the batsman!! his speed has become next to nothing!!Mr Sresanth with all his break dance like action was carted out of the park by gayle !! and that too with one hand!!
Our present day prasannas could not get us the breakthrough's!!
Mr Sehwag u better pack ur bags and go!! what atrocious fielding!!
The only glimmer is the batting of DHONI!!
Perhaps it will be 4-1 to the windies!!

well spoken however I do believe Greg Chappell and Dravid are not at fault, They can only take the horse to the pond but cannot make it drink water, You are right about Sehwag, Mr. World class opener who cannot even get past 20s and 30s.The team lacks killing spirit to finish the job like Pakistan even though a lot of their senior players have retired.

I fully agree with the views expressed in the comment. It is high time Mr. Chappel and Mr. More stop making experiments and bring back Saurav Ganguly keeping aside all the ego clashes so that India could do well in the forthcoming World Cup.

India\'s Performance
by Ramkumar on May 27, 2006 11:29 AM

India\'s worst performance in the overseas was happened again. They are the lions in the Sub-continent and home pitches because of dead pitches. But in overseas which are bouncy pitches.Indians have to learn a lot from this series so that they can perform well in the forthcoming World cup. All the best to the Indian Team for the remaining matches in West Indies

India's series defeat against WI
by Rajesh on May 27, 2006 11:28 AM

Our team can learn a few good things from this defeat...
Dravid should not open... He is a very good middle order batsman and the senior most player in the team. Even if he is scoring while opening, he should bat at No 4. If he bats at that position, then it will strengthen the indian batting order.. Also, Dhoni should be promoted in the batting order. Now he is not getting more balls to bat and remember he is the inform bats man in the team other than Yuvraj.
And one more thing to remember is the next world cup is in WI and team India has to compete with stronger teams..
Till now, India's winning streak was in the sub continent only. So, they have to extend it to other places also..

Indian strategy too baffeling
by Pradeepta Panda on May 27, 2006 11:13 AM

Do you know India's winning run was due to the flexible strategy it had so far. But here they were so stubburn with the five bowler strategy !!!!! WI won the series with three bowlers. All along they were chiped in with Gyel, Samuel, Bravo and sometimes Sarwan. But for India the presence of Shewag, Raina, Yuvraj did not make the management to think after the two defeats at least to have seven batsman. Why in th earth they have Uthappa ? You can not wait for eternity for your batmen to strike form . I hoep they have learned the lesson at least. If they are sticking to six batsman to avoid Ganguly than it won't help. You cannot make a team to avoid somebody ! Now for the test series again I hope Dravid should not open atleast. So to win atleast you should kame your defense strong atleast ( that will make sure you don't loose). Let's see if they still play with six batmen in the last ODI !

West Indies clinch ODI series
by strysh4 on May 27, 2006 11:01 AM

Where are the two losers.... Chappel & Dravid? After all the nonsensical talk such as "Sehwag is in great form", etc.

Step 1: Sack Dravid. Clearly, he is not a Captaincy material.

Step 2: Kick Chappel out of India. Make sure he never visits India ever again. He has totally ruined the Team India which really belongs to Sourav Ganguly. Even today all the young players swear by him.

The next disgraceful news would probably be: Bangladesh / Kenya beat India. That's clearly possible, with the direction Dravid & Chappel are giving.
