Masood Khan
Rajnath Singh has zero popularity
by Masood Khan on Mar 17, 2006 10:12 PM

I strogly condemn his statement that Saurav and Dravid cannot be ideal for Indian youths.
Can Rajnath Singh be an ideal leader for Indian youths? He is quoting the names of Azad and Bhagat singh, They sacrificed their lives for the country, while Rajnath Singh will be more than Happy to take hundreds of lives of Indian citizens to be chief minister or Union minister.
He is giving these types of statments just to emotionally blackmail the innocent people.

changing times need changing role models
by rayker on Mar 17, 2006 09:59 PM

although rajnath is partially right. they were inspiring leaders who had depth in thier characters, and had made the ultimate sacrifice. but normal peopel need normal role models too - they want to see dravid show character in the wake of a slide against tough opposition. look eye to eye in the oppostion, but never utter a word. thats character. ganguly also led from the front, and was a tit for tat captain. i believe , these chaps are showing the pattern of evolution in the indian society - how we have grown from almost wimps in cricket to gritty players. to reach a position of balance and achievemnt in any walk of life, we need to look up to someone, someone closer at hand and whom we could relate to people like dravid, pathan, munaf patel.etc. how they have come up from being normal people to super stars! some of them have hit an airpocket of stardom created by quick money. there's moral in it too, not to fall prey to too many worldly achievements.

you dont come across maniacs ruling us these days. but in the long haul, history would forget these role models at the cross roads, and will be replaced by bhaghat singh, lala rajpat rai, bipin chandra pal, azad etc. as true heroes.

dravid and ganguly
by arunachalam on Mar 17, 2006 09:57 PM

when rajnathji says that they should not be the idols
1) no india youth is taking them as a roll model because had they done it, we will be having more industrious persons than there are
2)with due respects to all the nethas, neither dravid nor ganguly has lessor patriotism
3)why do we always take punch at dravid and not sachin
what have people done to give the youth something to be inspired about except bofors, and bribe in front of the cameras.

let them do something and stop misusing the name of the greats like bhagat singji and azadji

by ateeq on Mar 17, 2006 09:53 PM

I do agree with Mr Raj nath singh., that our ideal should be like this only.but does our neta have such ideal in there life or just its another lecture for youth another thing that that he notice that he did not mention any muslim freedom fighter. so this is there idealism and charecter to show for youth.

Rahil Zubin
Saurav,Dravid cant be Ideals
by Rahil Zubin on Mar 17, 2006 09:45 PM

I defenetly dont agree with the BJP leaders view.Even to achieve the levels that Dravid or any other cricketer has achieved ,it takes a lot of effort and hardwork which only few achieve. There are lot more things to observe and learn from these persons other than entertainment.
I agree even freedom fighters like Bhagat singh and Ajad deserve more than these people. But if we are failing to recognise these freedom fighters as our Ideals ,then there is something majorly wrong in the way the childrens are broughtup or may be in the education system,or may be in those who are suppose to teach these qualities to the children or may be its the Media which is not paying/potraying enough attention to the invaluable contributions of these Freedom fighters.
We should consider everything Ideal where we can learn or adopt some good qualities in ourself.
Lets believe in self development first rather than society development.
Only when we grow society grows.
And finally we should not pay much attention to what is said by these poloticians who have no care for the country or the people. They percieve everything in terms of Vote bank.Lets just be carefull.

ideals....
by Biju on Mar 17, 2006 09:40 PM

mhhh.... I really don't know why "petty" remarks of "petty" politicians should be posted in rediff.com that too as front news...
for the sake of commenting on that... Bhagat Singh etc.. etc.. were ideals for a generation, but we can't clinch on to history... every generation has their own ideals... cricketers are main headlines in India in this era... and there is no harm in having them as ideals... as for film stars..., I donnooo......
