dravid innings in west indies
by NITIN KUMAR SINGH on Jul 03, 2006 03:33 PM

dravid has shown that he is really the great wall of india in cricket. In the last match no any indian batsman bat very well but dravid play very well and very important innings. that is why india win the match as well as series. this is the captain`s inning. normally in india whaen any player is appointed as captain its performance decayed but in the case of rahul its not. this is our real player and real captain

Congrats to Team India
by M. Joel Vinod on Jul 03, 2006 02:13 PM

Kudos to Rahul Dravid for his captaincy aswell as his batting.Lara might be the highest run getter, but we saw the way he(captain) batted. This shows Dravid a better accomplished batsman than Lara. Congrats to Team India specially Kumble, baji, sresanth and Munaf.

INDIA WINS IN WI AFTER GAVASKAR'S 1971 TRICKS
by Aurnob Roy on Jul 03, 2006 12:56 PM  | Hide replies

Its a great win, for India, after 35 years, in West Indies soil, with last 1971, West Indies.Ofcourse, we had,Sunil Gavaskar then,on debut, without helmet scoring 774 runs,in the series.Today, our hereo's from India, were a team effort, with Dravid,Sreesanth,Munaf Patel,Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh performing admirably. Also,Indian catching was superb.Laxman,in particular,in slip catching was superb. However,Indian batting,is shabby,in Tests. They dont know how to concentrate.Saurav Ganguly's aggressive captaincy spirit, too is lacking. However,in the Pace bowling department,India,is very rich, now, with Irfan Pathan,Zaheer Khan,Munaf Patel,Sreesanth, doing good pace bowling, along with Ajit Agarkar but in spin bowling, except for Kumble and Harbhajan we have failed to groom, new quality spinners, which reminds me of Chandrashekhar,Bedi,Prasanna and Vekataraghvan. In left hand batting,Ganguly's replacement is not there to be filled. In feilding,we have improved leaps and bounds. In Dhoni,we have a good batsman and keeper of high value. This team,if nurtured well, will go, a long way,in shaping,a good WORLD CUP WIN FOR INDIA,2007, but do not cut, shut, chop, change players every moment.

RE:INDIA WINS IN WI AFTER GAVASKAR'S 1971 TRICKS

Hi,

I thought Rahul Dravid's Captaincy was miles ahead of the subjugated and lacklustre Captaincy v had witnessed under Sourav Ganguly for the last couple of years. I would like to know the areas of Sourav Ganguly's Captaincy that make u percieve his as being aggressive. Rahul Dravid has been the main difference between the two teams for the series result[along with invaluable contributions from Kumble and Harbhajan] and has been the new found definition of leading from the front by setting a serious example to his players with his brave and fighting knocks in difficult times. If that is not showing aggression[by not bowing his head and fighting it out in the middle] in a useful and pragmatic manner then I wonder what is aggression! I always thought the world aggressive is very loosely used. Rahul Dravid has single handedly shown all the other 21 players what is meant by displaying the spirit to fight and I guess his own 10 players will derive the much needed inspiration from his cool, composed and strong approach just the way many team members like to look upto a cool, composed and successful team leader. I hope you have seen God Father.

Regards,

Sourav Ganguly, Kolkata.

India's Victory in West Indies
by SURESHDEWRI on Jul 03, 2006 12:05 PM

Congratulations to Dravid and his boys for the series victory. Dravid has once again proved that he has been the most consistent Indian batsman ever to have played test cricket. Anil Kumble needs to push himself for a couple of more years to reach 600 test wickets. Because he desrves nothing less. The new pace duo Sreesanth and Patel have all the potentials to become top class pace bowlers in international cricket. What was irritating was Kaif's continuous selection in the test team. He has been the luckiest Indian cricketer. He does not belong in the test team. He is not good wnough. A better player should be selected.Actually the score 1-0 does notat all look satisfactory. They should have won at least 3-0.We still need Pathan to fire. And another pace bowler to give the bowling attack the options to choose from. What about the West Indies. Lara looks to have reached the end of his career. Well almost there.
Hopefully we will have a better next season of test cricket with more victories.
