Well Mr BSB get ur facts right. Wolmer was not SA coach in 92 WC and D/L method was not in practice. So first improve ur knowledge and then open ur mouth.

shewag is fine.
by adam on Feb 08, 2006 12:04 PM

Shewage is fine in terms of his fitness, his strokes have been missing, but remember when he made 300 runs , no one spoke ...he will shut every again. As far as Inzy is concerned...we will get him out, by hook or crook..and we will always be happy when we get him out, sympathies aside.contract system was used to give boys better levels of payment , after all why should bcci only fill its own pockets. at the same time money will get others to have more interest in the game. And for Sachin, we don\'t want just centuries we want him to win us matches.

come on, play the game the way it is supposed to be played.
by cricket lover on Feb 08, 2006 09:27 AM

I think Inzamam being given out should probably go down in history as one of the most ridiculous decisions ever. Yeah, I understand that players have the right to appeal and it is ultimately up to the discretion of the umpires to pass the final verdict. But, come on, can the players not decide for themselves as to what to appeal for? I am a big supporter of the Indian team, but I believe that professional cricket should be held to a much higher level than has been in this series. This includes all the nonsense sledging by the Pakistani cricketers, which thankfully the indian cricketers didnt resort to, and also the baseless appealing. I strongly feel that the right thing for Dravid to have done as a captain was to recall Inzamam and establish the fact that while cricket can be one of the most competetive games, it still has not lost its gentlemanly touch.

About Holding and the likes complaining about the lousy appealing by the indians, first of all, I dont give two hoots to what Holding has to think or say, and secondly, has holding forgotten his bodyline bowling or the not-so-seldom beamers that he used to throw down to the indian batsmen??

dump him in the indian ocean
by kk on Feb 08, 2006 09:08 AM

what does he mean when he calls Mr D/L , 'those lousy mathematicians... unknowns who probably never played cricket'....

but for D/L we would have been saddled with ridiculous rules like the infamous australian rain rule....remember '92 - eng vs SA??

bedi needs to have his head examined..

Only some people can write
by Sundara on Feb 08, 2006 02:20 AM

There are some people who are born just to bowl.. Not to talk or write or think too much about strategies. No doubt Bedi is good only with a ball in his hand.

There seem to be too many undercurrents in this article other than merely cricket.

U R right Barkha!
by Purushottam on Feb 07, 2006 10:18 PM

U R very right Barkha! All the commentators and "experts" have vested interest in saying Sachin
has replied to criticism but when I saw his match performance he was not even 10% of Sachin. So much
confused and apprehensive and many time fisting partners after 4/6s he was truly off color!
Imagine player earning 20crores and begging the
custom dept. for waiving duties? For what? Can't he contribute to nation after taking so many incentives
like flat at concessional rates?
If everybody stops responding to Sachin ads then only he will be true player and earning just like all
other great cricketers used to be.

Sehwag................
by NB on Feb 07, 2006 03:46 PM

Sehwag is not the only dead weight. The contract system is proving to be counter productive. It is better to be based on performance at each outing. No permanancy in income.Batsman be penalised for bad batting and bowlers punished for not maitaining line and length.

SA had to score 22 runs off 1 ball, not 23.
I was also wondering why the matches are starting so late! 10:00 AM is too late for the winter. The administrators should keep 7 hours for the game + 1.5 hours for lunch + tea + drinks. Thus, if you start at 10, you end at 6:30 PM, which IS dark.

get ur facts right
by ss on Feb 07, 2006 03:04 PM

cant believe someone like Bishen Singh Bedi can get things so wholly wrong.
The Duckworth-Lewis rules were not employed during the semifinal of World Cup 92. In fact the DL rules were adopted becuase of farce caused by the rain rules applied during World Cup 92.

Second, Bob Woolmer wasnt South African coach during World Cup 92
