zaheer stars and india victory
by suman on Dec 10, 2006 10:56 AM

Congrets to team india.a team wins and captian is successful when all players support the captain and play as unit... If same team that won 17 odis in a raw and suddenly some players's game, bodylanguage and attitude changes who is to blame ? captain or coach or players??? If some players have differen agenda rather than supporting captain and team, and team looses the match in raw, why blame should go to coach and captain why not all other players.??
it is player to deciede whether he has to play for team, himself or group he represents within team? coach and captian can help to some extent but performace on the filed depands complete responsiblity of a player. How quciky the game of some players changes when dravid is leading team and turns different when other players are leading.. that is answer for defeat in WI, DLF cup and champions trophy and odi series against SA
team india won test series in SA after 30 yrs without ganguly's and tendulkars and dravid won MOM and MOS. dravid captaincy was equally good as ganguly' in one season and dravid's name shortlisted for ICC award and he earned test cap captain for ICC team.

Double Standard ?
by M. Faraaz on Dec 10, 2006 10:45 AM

Hello to Rediff editor.
I was totally disappointed with your headline that " Zaheer stars in india's victory". What about a man who scored the only hundred from both the sides in first innings and then 40 not out in second. Remaining unbeaten on a track on which all biggies fall cheap. Irfan Pathan is a victim of double standard. In indian team we select a batsman just to score 50. If he does this...he is considered as a regular batsman. What wrong irfan has done. If this is his bad form with bowling, then his batting itself is contributing more than a specialist batsman to the team. But still the newspaper says pathan disappoints with the bowl again. Is this the treatment all other allrounders like Kallis, Flintoff gets from the media. Wake up indians....its time now to accept Irfan Pathan as a all rounder. The more you take the time to do so....The more the indian team will be loosing. Me and many honest cricket lovers in india has a lot to cheer for india today just bcoz of Pathan. Just separate those two innings of him then imagine the result ? would it have been the same ? Never.
Lots of praise and love to IRFAN PATHAN. And hope u will come victorious always....

The victory sounds good but the concern that the Indians were bundled out for mere 142 can't be overlooked.

sehwag & sachin tendulkar both are not in best form for they give a long rest from the indian crickt team.
and give a chance for guatam ghambhir & robin uthappa.
ghambhir and uthappa also form in ranji cricket.

Man, Gangulys appear in this world very rare.
Look at the face, look at the grace, and look at the emotions.
Look at his pleasures, look at his pains, and look at the man who is a commander.
Look at him who rescued Indian cricket from the bookies.

Look at the man who charged the averages and ordinaries in to performers.

You guys put pedestrians and soldiers ahead of the leader.

The one who leads now can at best be a good soldier.
Look at his face. Never beaming, never bright.
Nervous and brooding all the time.
Always under the spell of White Mischief.

And a pigmy judged the tallest the jumping Tennis Ball became the selectors head Sacked Ganguly.

You bring Cornell too late.

Shame on you Indians, the jealous, the buffoons, the good for nothings, and the diggers of your own graves.
Good things are never meant for you.
Even if you get it you will lose it soon.

You deserve another 1000-year rule by the whites.
Perhaps beginning with stony faced White Mischief.

It si just great that India had a win, but is still disturbing to see that Ganguly is not in the past still! He WAS not performing well when he was taken out, forget the overall records. So what was done at the time is DONE. He is NOT the ONLY player in the WHOLE of India who can claim a place. We need to look ahead. Good luck Team India,
Regards,
Kiran Vasudev
