sachin should resign
by Shitij on Dec 09, 2006 03:51 PM  | Hide replies

i agree that sachin is not playing well, but all those who want him to resign, can u name a single player who can replace him. the fact, is in spite of his poor form he is still playing better than other youngsters. we simply don't have the kind of bench strength that Australia has...

Bench strength is built up by carefully selecting younger players and grooming them up. We need to strat this exercise and start picking better performing players from Ranji Tropy and other domestic tournaments, and make them play at big stage.
Sachin is very precious although he is not at his best now. May be he him self needs to think and give a commitments to his captain and BCCI on his application. Or we make him a caption again.
But surly greats like Sachin retire one day. But there is way. You cannot them boot them out.

Naren
surprise decision
by Naren on Dec 09, 2006 01:10 PM

Well, really it was a surprise and sad decision.
I rate few players are class & consistent, like Kallis, Dravid, Martyn , Yousuf ... and i feel the time he annouced his retirement really ask the question, what made him to do so... why such a rush move, let the selectors do it or he should have made this after worldcup.

I think, Aussies will sure lose him, when they would play in West indies. In WI, go go batting and every match 300+ runs are not possible and somebody like Damien Martyn class and cool head should be there to take you home, when the chips are down.

It does not mean Aussies lack good players, you see all players are go go players and that is the problem in WI and everybody does it but except Martyn who can turn the odds in favour of you in his own style & we have seen this.

I think somebody in ACB, should come forward to reverse his decision and he should be in One dayers atleast,if his present form in Test cricket is a worrying factor.

I love good cricket. Aussies, RSA, and WI, now giving good cricket and i hope many fans would like to see
Martyn atleast at the end of world cup. If not aussies will miss him in WI and perhaps world cup as well.

martyn retires
by madhavi latha podila on Dec 09, 2006 10:24 AM

Well, just the right example for a few Indian 'stars'.

As Vijay Merchant once said, players should retire when people wonder 'why now', rather than lament 'why not now'.

someone in Indian team should recall this famous saying.

RE:People here are really dumb!

You know what. You must be really dumb uneducated illiterate guy or whatever to say that munnabhai was better then Dhoom 2.

Get over it. Gandhi did nothing. He only talks. Real fighters where the extremists. By doing Gandhigiri one cannot achieve anything.

So buddy stop making useless comments. Lage raho is not a classic but a good movie, which manages to get some support for Gandhi.

Dhoom 2 and Krrish on the other hand is revolutionizing Indian movies and that what makes it a classic.

Dear Soumo,
You have become very frustrated with your life. That is why you think that everything can be achieved through extrimism only.
A good film is based upon the perception of an individual. Baabul is good never implies Dhoom-2 is bad. Dravid is good batsman never means Sachin is worthless. Try to elaborate your mind and learn to accept different views. You may not have liked the script/style/presentation of Lage Raho or Baabul, but they strongly convey some message of social relevance.
For your pleasure, Dhoom-3 is in making and I believe you will go for first day first show. Best Wishes,

A Surprising Decision
by T.Satish on Dec 08, 2006 03:43 PM

Well it was a bad news for cricke australia n all his fans worldover who were surprised at martyns sudden announcement of his immediate retirement from cricket.I think the decision came a bit too early n it was taken totally from his heart not from his head.He was the player whom the team could look to whenever in trouble n the recent example was his performance in the ICC champions trophy. He may not be as charismatic as ponting, gilchrist, symonds etc but could provide solidity to the kangaroos middle order much like our own skipper. He also was a good fielder who could chip himself in with 4-5 overs.A complete cricketer i would say he was n surely australian team would miss him.Its also an eye opener to our indian players most of whom have assumed their place in the squad and not performing at all. This is another example of cricket australia backing the game, not the individuals playing it.The fact that game is above everyone holds good for CA.Also he was under pressure with his low scores in the ongoing ashes series n he could have done better in the coming matches n as such the decision is a surprise to all the cricket lovers.Good luck Damien n Best of Luck for ur future. We Miss U

Great Player, was part of famous Unbeatable Aussies Team. All good things have to come to an end. Time to set aside and make way for youngsters. All the best for his new innings.

take a bow, tendulkar, sehwag etc.,
by harish on Dec 08, 2006 02:44 PM

Dear Sir,

Truly in the spirit of the game, a grreat australina player, has declared his retirement, even when he was playing better than tendulkar, who is supposed to be the greatest batsmen in the world. The Tendulkar's, Dravid's etc., should learn something from this action of Damine Martyn
