HOW CAN WE BLAME CHAPPEL;
by kishore on Dec 08, 2006 06:35 PM  | Hide replies

We cannot blame chappell. If we take the history India \'s performance is very very poor in SOUTH AFRICA.I think we need time to adjust.
In my opinion first test matches should be played in a tour rather than one day\'s.

The ODI series against WI was not played in South Africa that we lost 4-1.
The Triangular series against WI and Australia was not played in South Africa where we failed.
The Champions Trophy was not played in South Africa where we could not qualify.

I think Chappel was the coach for all three tournaments. And for the recent series also that we lost 4-0.

Send Chappel with one way ticket. Bring Gangully as Captain. Drop Sehwag and Tendulkar as they need some rest or retire from cricket. Give chance to youngersters.

I am sure Indian team will do fantastic.

Chappell not to be blamed
by Anand Gopalkrishnan on Dec 08, 2006 06:29 PM  | Hide replies

It's Sourav Ganguly who wanted Greg Chappell at the first place and Jagmohan Dalmiya influenced the committee to go for Chappell. Remember Sourav flew to Adelaide in 2003 and sought Chappell out for some coaching and the BCCi paid him Dollars 6000. Sourav was India's captain then. So if Chappell was good then, he has to be good now too. Just because Sourav was dropped, Chappell cannot be deemed as a bad coach.

Are U drunk?
Who has blamed Chappel for dropping Ganguly?
Everyone is pointing to the dismal performance in SA. Its irrelevant whether Ganguly is dropped or re-selected.
I think you are an Arts-student, that is why you can't be brief and to the point.

Mr. Niranjan Sha's comments.
by Debkanti Moitra on Dec 08, 2006 06:16 PM

I agree with his comments which is applicable in normal circumstances, but I would suggest Mr. Shah not to forget that Mr.Chappel cannot escape the blame since from the day he has taken over as the coach of the team India, he has demolished the morale of the team most intelligently. Why dont you recall the morale of these players post Chappel period.

How Can you blame chappell???
by Amol Choudhary on Dec 08, 2006 06:07 PM

Dear all.
This is another stunt to keep the issue boiling. Its as simple as that. Its the players who are playing out in the middle and not chappell. You can very well c the Australian mindset of winning. His current experiments with the team are of the strategy that nobody can predict the Indian batting line up or whos gonna bowl. You can very well c the Australian team which played in Malaysia had a totally new breed of players who came at any positions and made their presence felt with a bang.
Why can't our Indian cricket team modify themselves current to the current cricketing standards of the world.
The simple answer to our failure is our inability to handle green top wickets. We are beaten hammer and tongs when we play Australia, SA or Newzealand on their backyards.
The message is simple. Learn to play on lively wickets. Just stop creticizing Chappell for our inability.

Judge yourself..
by Samit Debsikdar on Dec 08, 2006 05:54 PM

Am amazed to find Niranjan Shah's talk that Ganguly's presence wud boost the morale.. It was this very Niranjan who had once (in fact not very long ago) had stated that "With the current selection Committe in place, Ganguly can ne'er find a berth in the team", stemming out of his vengeance on Jagmohan Dalmiya.... And where is the coach hiding now?? - Had he not long ago alleged that "Ganguly's mere presence is poisonous to the team spirit"?? Was he at all aware that his job was so easy for he was getting something 'ready made' - a successful team, singel-handedly made by Ganguly?? In fact were it not Ganguly's backing Chappel wud not have been the coach, in the 1st place... and C what has this Australian done to our team... Now U all think, the coach deserves to go scot-free?? It's unfortunate that V r living in a country where politics dictates things - people after get away so openly, after comitting murder; the netas remain stoic silent (for votes) when a mob which goes berserk bcoz a statue is demolished. Unfortunately, politics has trickled down to every smallest thing in our country.. and V have never thought of a society w/o political system.. SHAMEFUL!!

I agree with Mr Shah, but I hope he remembers the way they started blaming Ganguly when India was also not playing well under his Captaincy about an year back.
When Ganguly plays, performance is the only phenomenon, but when Chappel and Rahul badly performs, so many excuses?????
