Dude, cheating happens everywhere. It's just that some are better than others and keep repeating it. It's just other countries realize that they wouldnt win unless you do the same thing that the master cheater country is doing.
Match-fixing in Sharjah, ball tampering from ages, chucking by bowlers regularly, forfeiting a cricket match etc., all happened to one country and I don't have to name it.
Politics and cheating are two different things. One harms the game and the latter harms the self respect. Politics exists in Indian cricket, but cheating remains with our neighbour.

Drama ends in expected way
by Rocky on Dec 05, 2006 03:08 PM

So...finally much hyped drama has ended in a way everyone extected. This was all just to bring Shoaib and Asif on track. Everyone knew that ban is not going to continue for long as PCB itself said they were not very strict and are open to hear both player's plea.
I wonder why this all was done...

PAKISTAN RECOLLECTED THEIR FIRE BALLS
by BHUSHAN JAIN on Dec 05, 2006 02:32 PM

If akhtar & asif find their places for the upcoming series in saf, then it will certainly boost up the pakistan bowling. As in the absence of both the bowlers, GUL performed really well & on the other side shabbir most probably get his place to play for the pakistan side. This lifting of ban might hurt SAMI ,becoz certainly he won't get a place for the world cup.Besides this, these bowlers doesn't shows consistency.By the way, pakistan have to look up for their poor batting performances. While not giving chance to hameed is hurtening to see. They must opt him as a strike batsman ,& he needs matches to get in form before the festival in windies. ....ATLAST PAKISTAN TEAM BECOMES THE BAG FULL OF STARS & TALENT...

Ban lifted
by venu on Dec 05, 2006 02:28 PM

I would like to know the legal strature of both the bodies who have firstly imposed ban and now lifted.

It looks that there was immense pressure on the later body to lift the ban atleast for salvaging the pride of the country

First, I thank Pakistan Cricket Board for lifting the ban on these two dynamic players. By the grace of the God we will see these two giants of Cricket again soon. Youngsters to learn lesson from them.

Ban lifted on Asif and Sohaib
by Ravi on Dec 05, 2006 02:12 PM

It's a good message for all the cricket lover especially from this part of the world. Now I hope to see both the players in action during world cup. But PCB and Appeal Tribunal shall also keep in mind that it should not act as an example where players can get away after taking banned drugs.

Good news!
by Manjari on Dec 05, 2006 01:49 PM

It is indeed a very good news that the ban has been lifted off Shoaib Akhtar and Md Asif. Every one makes mistakes in their lives/careers. Punishment is alright, but a BAN is not justified. Good job done!

what?
by Vinny on Dec 05, 2006 01:47 PM

Why did they put the ban, if they were going to lift it?

Although, I was excepting this to happen. Corruption!!

Are we idiots?
by Naveen Aysola on Dec 05, 2006 01:46 PM  | Hide replies

Simple question, are we (the cricket fans) idiots? First they say that they chuck, then they say that this angle is good for bowlers. Then they say match-fixing and then pardon most of them and make scapegoats of others. Then they say doping and later say "the players did'nt know that they doped".
Is the cricket fan an idiot? I would say Yes, absolutely a first class idiot and I'm one of them.
World Cup in 3 months, the sponsors need players who can generate money. Thats why Akthar can throw, dope and do whatever as long as Pakistan finds another star. Same with Australia with Warne and Ponting, South Africa and Gibbs.
It's time ICC cleans up this mess. It's bad enough and if not curtailed, can get worse. We have more controversies in sub-continent cricket that performance. India, Pakistan are to be blamed. They as a team have improved the least among all test cricketing nations. Look at England performing without Vaughan, Trescothick & Jones. Can India perform without Dravid, Sehwag & Harbhajan? No! Can Pakistan perform with Younis, Yousuf & Asif? No! That's the difference between quality sides and quality sides with no direction and loads of politics. I'm an idiot.
