Ganguly-stupid decision to drop hin in ODI,s & include in tests.
by Prabhu on Nov 25, 2005 11:15 AM

Hi friends
Iam one among the few Dada supporters in T.N.I like to keep my opinion on the Dada issue. To my opinion Ganguly does not deserve a place in the Test squad. But in contrast none can fill up his place in ODI's.He is one of the greatest ODI player to have played the game.Eventhough his ODI debut was in 1992, he played his 2nd ODI only in 1996.Scoring 10k runs in just 8 years is no joke.More important is that he has scored 22 centuries(India won in 19 matches when he scored 100) and 60 halfcenturies(India won 45 times). So its clear that whenever Sourav gets a big score, India wins 9/10 times. Its not the same case with other players (Dravid & Sachin).India has lost numerous matches inspite of Dravod or Sachin making 100.Before souravs reign as captain India looked la very ordinary side in the ranks of Zim,Ken,WI.Bangla.But sourav built this world beating team.He has given equal chances for players from all states.e.g..D.Karthik,Balaji,Badani,Sriram(T.N)..sewag,Gambir,Nehra,Akash...yohanan(kerala)..Pawar,salvi(mumbai)..Y.singh,H.s ingh(punjab)..and many more. Its not the case before. After K.Srikkanths exit it took another 5 years for a man from chennai(R.Singh) to make an entry .

C'mon Back the man who took India to Glory
by Pratik on Nov 05, 2005 09:06 PM

He is being made a scapegoat in the hands of Board politics with able support from former Cricketers (Whom Ganguly gave answers in his own way and made them eat their own words), and the Biased Media. I saw all News channels reading between the lines and twisting opinions of many to suit the Anti Ganguly Winds. He has been the greates captain of India ever, and see how he is being treated by all of us. Many sites, channels and papers have lashed out at him by launching anti Ganguly Slogans, opinions and What not. Suddenly, every Tom Dick and Harry started understanding Cricket very well and did not hesitate to give their opinions about Ganguly (or Anti Ganguly) and how he should be thrown out of Indian team. We have always been puppets to others hands....atleast our opinions reflect so. we all are speaking what the board Politicians want us 2, forgetting all the good work and service done by Ganguly. He is the inform Player and made two Centuries in last three matches Played by him. He was kept out on the basis on not being fit..& never given a Chance. We the Indians should stop being Regionally, Linguistically (and all *lly) biased and back the man who took Indian Cricket to top..

ROY FLAYED FOR GANGULY OUSTER
by v.r.kalyana krishnan on Nov 04, 2005 10:45 AM

The duty of the National Selection Committee is to select the best available talent to represent the country. If they start looking at Bengali, Punjabi, Andharite or Tamilian etc. then it will not be a national team. In fact, I for one, always felt that the selection committee should consist of 3 former players who have contributed immensly to the game (like Kapil Dev, Gavaskar, Viswanath, Vengsarkar, Mohinder Amarnath, Bishen Bedi, EAS Prasanna, Venkatraghavan or B. S. Chandrasekhar) and not people like Roy, Gopal Sharma, or V. B. Chandrasekhar. What is the contribution of these 3 men to Indian cricket and if they can become selectors, just because they held a bat in their hand some time or the other, then there are hundreds of past cricketers who can also become selectors.

Ganguly shd be back
by ganessin on Nov 03, 2005 12:44 PM  | Hide replies

Hi All,

I am not a Bengali. I am from TamilNadu. Raising above the region, I think Ganguly shd be there in the team. He shd be there in the squad atleast after making a century in Duleep Trophy and leading his team to victory. I dont know why everybody is against Ganguly, a class player.

Once again Bengalis proved that their Country Worship. I am very much admired about these so called country worship fellows. If it is happend to tendulkar what is going on in mumbai and maharastra. Even as a captain he give lot of chances to youngsters but they are not bengalis. Some captains who give continuous chances to agarkar, muzumdar etc and even for dravid for his first 20 odd matches,he scored single digits in each and every match and he continue in the team because of G.Viswanath as a team selector in that time.

Omission Of Sauav Ganguly From India's ODI Team
by Sanjay Chowdhry on Nov 02, 2005 05:13 PM  | Hide replies

I Think, Ganguly should have been included in the Team against Sri Lanka. Looking into his century made in Duleep trophy match, it seems that he is in a good nick. He is still better than Rao and for that matter better than Yuvraj Singh. Although as a fielder he is not quite agile but he makes it up with his batting.

Not all is lost for Ganguly, as there are two matches against lanka and 5 matches against S.Africa.

Wishing good luck to Saurav ...

Sanjay Chowdhry

Ganguly's ouster
by J.Ganapathy on Nov 02, 2005 11:14 AM

Every good artist/cricketer's career comes to an end.No one can be permanent.Greats like Kapil and Gavaskar also had to giveup.Ganguly is no exception. If he lets his bat speak more than his or his supporters' mouth, his come back will be written in golden letters.
It is no secret that money is the main attraction today for cricketer, particularly in India. Therefore,it is very difficult to be away from Cricket for Ganguly.Morethan cricket they earn from other avenues. But ultimately we should judge only by cricket and the present standards.History cannot change the future. We can only draw lessons from History.Ganguly did create history and if he is unable to perform he can only be a part of the history. Let us not pamper our Cricketers.Let them earn their name.

No dude...not Yuvraj's...but he is far more talented to be in place of Raina or Venugopala Rao.... A couple of 30 odd runs in 10 ODI cant just seal a place for these players in the Indian team instead of a person having 10000 ODI runs and an avg of over 42...Think Logical dude...They will get their chances...Its the beginning of their career....Its good that Dhoni, Sachin, Dravid are firing...His absence will be felt where they dont....and these youngstars fail to take the pressure...Come true guys he has been a great pressure soaker. think of Pakistan, think of WC'03... And its just ridiculous to launch anti ganguly campaigns after just 4 wins by India in his absence....against the best captain of India ever.... and for ur info, im frm TN and not from Kolkatta. All the best
