Ganguly's exclusion
by Asif Khan on Nov 01, 2005 01:27 PM

It is ridiculous to see the way people behave. They are just bothered about some one from their state or some body from their group / creed should have been selected for the Indian Team, no matter how bad he had performed in the recent past. Also does not matter to them is Team India performing in such high standards (even with out Ganguly). The Maharashtrians cry over exclusion of players from their state and so does the Bengalis. I think Team India is above any persona be it Ganguly be it Sachin.

Ganguly's future
by K L Rajiv on Nov 01, 2005 08:17 AM  | Hide replies

It is a small world. A Captain who was against a class player being selected from the one day side due to fielding, leading to his being dropped from the World Cup side despite an excellent season in International season in both forms of game now faces the same music. Ofcourse his forn is presently "PITS". A man who cannot field for nuts, is a poor judge of runs, has not done ANYTHING worthwhile with the bat for nearly 2 seasons with the bat asks why he is left out.
The boot is now on the other foot. SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT. Get more runs, learn how to cope with short pitched deliveries (not tested as yet) and MOST IMPORTANT - learn to field better. Maybe you may get a chance in the Test side.
Else shut up and let the performers perform. It is a small world Mr Ganguly. You have removed better players for want of better fielders, players who had been performing with the bat - if you get a taste of your own medicine, why cry. Grin and bare it. On what basis are you asking the selectors for a reason? Did you care to give those that were left out by you any reason???

Roy flayed for Ganguly ouster

It is sheer misfortune that Mr. Roy has to face these allegations. What best he could do when the Captain and the Coach have decided not to bring any change in the team which has won the first two ODIs. Sourav made the greatest mistake by not participating in Challenger's trophy where Sachin also could not score but it was enough to prove the fitness. Since Sourav did not participate it became easy for the selectors to declare Dravid as Captain for 12 consecutive matches. Sourav played Kaif at No.3 in the tests against imbabwe in last series while Dravid was our automatic choice for No.3 in tests and Kaif scored century and 80 odd to cement his place as No.3. This might have antagonised Dravid and Chappel is already against Sourav. So, his not playing in Challenger has been proved as the worst decision. Simply participating in challenger trophy could have posed a great problem to the selectors to make Rahul as Captain because Sourav came from Zimbabwe as winning captain. In Indian soil it is difficult to defeat India so Sourav has to keep his patience till India faces a tough team abroad but before that in coming test series he should not be overlooked and Mr. Pronab Roy is there.

this is not the way
by Sundeep Grover on Nov 01, 2005 12:04 AM

I dont know why the bengalis are not able to understand the simple fact that Ganguly's ouster was in his best intersts only? he will be back and be a better player for it.Pranab Roy just did what was right. the world cannot be divided into benagli and non bengali!these marxist tactics of arm twisting to get what one wants even if you dont have the mandate for them, are not going to help anymore. I am sure Ganguly agrees with me. whatever we have seen or heard from him, he seems to have been taking it well in his stride.walking out or threatening resignation are tactics best suited to bengali politicians and not people involved in the gentleman's game.

ganguly

The best thing that has happened to Indian cricket is the ouster of a pathetic out of form player-Ganguly. The individual is never above the game. Let his fans just shut up and wait for him to cum back to form.

This is ridiculous

The extend to which Sourav is reverred in Bengal is understandable, but this is a bit too much. They have to understand that Pranab Roy is part of the Indian selection committee to select the Indian team and not to represent Bengali/East Zone interests.

Why only Bengalis do this
by Ritesh on Oct 31, 2005 08:47 PM  | Hide replies

Hi,

First a sorry for all the cricket loved bengalis for not finding their "Dada" in the team & also for this comment. But, I surely feel that the people from Bengal have only concern for their man & not for a cricketer or cricket. They never do a protest for anyone else except a bangali player. They should realise they are first indian & should not go finding personal pride in player of thier origin.
I haven't seen any other indian community doing so when the player of their religion in not selected.
I hope they willread & understand & put India first in their prirority list.
Soryy for hurting your feeling but, it's about time you guys should realise Patriotism like, great from Beangals leaders in the past have done.

Dada no doubt is an excellent player. Today's situation he himself is responsible.

When an indiviudual start feeling beyound his limit, the system automatically take care of the balance.

He need to wait & watch for his chance.

Hi... Let me first tell you that I belong to Tamil Nadu and not Kolkata. It seems that you have got loads of knowledge about Bengalis to write a thesis on them. How many bengalis do you know and what made you feel all that what you have posted. Its awful and hypocritism on your part to make such comments in a public website. It just shows your own background. About Ganguly, just think logically that you are just voicing the opinion of the board and biased media and telling what they want you to say. Just like being a puppet in others hands. Howmuch of Ganguly have you seen? His ODI Avg Still stands at Over 40. A handful of guys in world cricket has that kind of avg who has played more than 100 games. Any given day, im sure that any of the ex cricketers speaking about him would be glad to exchange their own record and statistics with Ganguly's. Cmon yaar... b logical and back the person who has contributed hugely to India's wonderful turn around. Even the best Batsman of World (As known popularly, i.e, Sachin) couldnt captain India to glory after Azhar's exit. He has over 16000 international runs and more than 100 wkts. He has made 2 Centuries in the last 3 games he Played. All d bst

Make your indentity as INDIAN , not bengali, punjabi or tamil etc.
by Guru on Oct 31, 2005 08:43 PM  | Hide replies

I am wondering when we INDIAN would come out of our regional indentities ? We always take side of players
or people from our province or region no matter who inefficent or useless person he/she is . Why we not taking palyers from other states as our own brothers like we take players from our own province ? It is not fair . It is shamefull that we are burning effigies of selctors , without giving thought to limitations or competance of player we fighting for . Except rare ocassions Gaguly was very low in his batting performance for long time . More over he mistaken by trying to take INDIAN team for granted . He also resorted to confrontation with coach and dadagiri to fellow players . All these thing can never benefit INDIAN team . We need efficient and active players . So please let us all rise above our regional indentity and think ourselves as INDIAN. And appericiate any player who is performing well in NATIONAL team , and condemn a player who is perfoming bad for long no matter which state or region he/she belongs to.

Well, my friend, you are just another puppet in the hands of the Board politics and the Biased media. Howmuch have you seen of the regional backing and all those stuffs first hand? Who for the instance has told that people dont show brotherhood to players from other regons? Tendulkar, Sehwag has more popularity that Ganguly in Kolkata (Source: BL survey). I think you have read a few articles from your region which has made you think in this biased way. try to think from your own and back the man who has taken India to glory. For your info, I have close links with the sports Journalists and know a thing or two about the same. And Im not from Kolkata either. Try to support talent and think a little before concluding. India has just won past 4 games. We need players like Ganguly, Zaheer Khan and Laxman for future. Its not supporting for your region, but supporting for the well being of the INDIAN TEAM..All the best
