contd from...

Prem, you have to first recognize that Team India operates under an environment set by Anti-Saurav group who were looking for a chance to drag Saurav. The seed of Anti-Ganguly sentiment was sowed in Dravid's mind and Chappel used that as he saw Ganguly was not favouring his methods. Accepted that Dravid, by performance and experience, deserves to be a captain. But recognize that the present power group within and outside the team want Saurav remain away from team.

Time demands that the current power group does not see Ganguly as one of Dalmia's influence or one who may snatch the captaincy from Dravid or might pose problem for Chappel. The Pawar group including More-Chappel-Dravid have already given enough signal against Ganguly and its high time that they stop thinking in personal ego or power terms.

People of India will be divided..just because of politicians!

I would advise you read Dravid's current behaviour and you then suggest a proper action for him. This 'gentlemean' is turning to be an audacious fellow.

Be ready to hear the people of East raising voice for ouster of Sachin and Sehwag from team India..tit for tat. Fight with one another! God!

Lady, From your comments, it is very clear that you are a strong supporter of Saurav as he is from the east which also says you are from the east. Your comments saying "Yes , We miss him" is because you really miss him. Ganguly's exclusion doesn't not make me miss him at all. Same maybe the case with Dravid. He spoke the truth rather than you asking him to lie. He may be a weak captain or a strong captain. I would say he has a far better attitude than Ganguly known for arrogance. Actually he seems arrogant because he doesn't know how to handle things effectively. Luckily with a good ream composition, he became the most successful Indian captain. It is not because of him the team won but because of the team he won. Anyway the problem here is Ganguly was excluded because he was not in good form. The same can happen to Sachin or sehwag or anyone for that matter. Had Ganguly kept his uncontrolable wide mouth shut before the media about the Greg issue, he would have been in the team. Unfortunately he spoke to the media instead of the board(BCCI). He has paid a heavy price and I'm sure that he will keep him mouth shut from now on. After his exclusion, he has become very polite.

Prem,

You are asking for an answer from an authority which is a biased one and came into power using the anti-Ganguly issue? Dont you see More-Chappel-Dravid group is strongly backed by the Pawar group? Dont you look at the growing impertinence of 'Rahul Dravid'? I dont think, Rahul will make a statement that will support Saurav's cause. When asked whether he is missing Saurav, his answer "I am very happy with whatever team been given" is a stupid answer not expected from captain of Indian team, who has played 10 years of cricket with Ganguly since the same debut test. His answer could have been, "Yes, we miss him and hope he makes an early comeback after proving his form". Dravid, More and Chappel are working to prove that they are better-off without Saurav. They are afrad of Saurav. You people have only projected the finger issue behind crowd behaviour at calcutta. Rahul's that statement alone was as damaging as Greg's finger. Add to that taking challenge over filmstar, politicians, et al. What was the use of bringing the Gavaskar issue, or making a reference of crowd at calcutta after winning the Mumbai match? Dont you see Rahul desparately wants to prove a point?..Continued

Sharad Pawar-Agriculture or Cricket?
by TV Kumar on Nov 30, 2005 12:47 AM

Are we playing cricket or Politics? On 29-11-2005 the mediaspent more time on BCCI than on more important national issues. A day earlier, no body would have bothered to see it as the people at large are interested more in Cricket than the politics on 'cricket. See the 'who is who' of the politicians in field. These greats should concentrate on their main duties, the political scenario being witnessed in de-fragmentation in many a party - be it BJP, Shiv Sena, RJD et al, might perhaps been different. It appears the Agriculture in India is a second priority for a seasoned politician like Mr. Sharad Pawar (one time potential for PM job) and similar may be the case for RJD Supremo Mr. Laloo Yadav cricket chief of Bihar - not forgetting Arun Jaitley who should have cared more for dissention in his elite party Uma factor, and Volckar Report. It is not Cricket what the nation needs today but many serious problems are the priority terrorism; North East infiltration; and SARAK, Pani & Bijli being beside the point. Is it George Orwell (1984) or Goebbles (of Nazi fame) in focus when things happening are to be heard & seen but remain to be far away from the truth, I wonder? TV Kumar.

What Pawar needs to do
by sandip on Nov 30, 2005 12:24 AM

Thank you. This is one news media that really (99% of time) sticks to the true spirit of journalism.
When we have medias like Indian Express, Deccan Herald etc. diving into petty politics of regionalism it is indded a beaytiful and welcoming change.
Do keep it up and I sincerely hope lot of Cricket Pundits will realize what true journalism means

Prem Panicker's observations
by krish on Nov 30, 2005 12:23 AM

Mr.Prem has hit the nails on the head. He has not only aptly discussed the blunders committed by the autocratic handling of the erstwhile managers of BCCI (which only many critics do point out) but has also suggested the correct solution in the form of a transparent and broad-minded non-parochial administartion of the affairs of the BCCI. Erstwhile BCCI fuelled regionalistic outlook and never thought of a TEAM INDIA representing the whole country strictly in terms of pure cricketing talents. Will Power&co listen and act? Mr.Power should look to himself, in this role, purely as an administator without the notorious qualities for which the present day Indian politicians are noted for.
