Captain's knock
by Srikanth on Nov 29, 2005 12:01 AM  | Hide replies

This is the team effort which we always talk off and this is the way in which the team has to play regularly.Keep behind all the issues who said Greg chappel is not a good coach and has to be named Dreg Chappel (mentioned in one of the earlier comments) and also how many times has Saurav ganguly played for the team like Rahul the Humble,Respectable,Adorable,The Wall...has played. The boys are playing with all their heart out in the matches and that is clearly visible. And we really need a captain like Dravid who holds the team together and plays for the Team and the Nation unlike others who look out for their individual records. Come on Idia continue the winning Streak.W broke the record of Australia's winning streak and South Africa who wanted to break their record by winning matches against india. Looking forward to see the Test cup against Sri Lanka. All the Best to the MEN IN BLUE. Keep it Up Jammy.........

Mate get ur facts right first about the scores and then comment.....Ganguly didn't perform an thats why he was dropped, yes he has a good average and good records in the past but that aint good enough....its not about Mumbaikers(I have never visited Mumbai)....but Tell u what they love the Indian Cricket Team and not just one 'Dada'.

Kindly check this statistics out and then rephrase your statement " has ganguly ever played for the team like dravid has done? "

I am not plyaing down Dravid's contribution, but at the same instance do no play Ganguly's contribution down.

The letter by Dr. S. Mandal who is a Calcuttan now staying in London stinks of parochialism which he still nurtures even when he has gone to London. I think Calcuttans are a little over-reactionary. Ganguly may have scored runs in the past but now he has not. As simple as that. As far as Sachin is concerned, he has lot more ethics than Saurav. He has never faked injury and has contributed for the team by suggesting strategies. It was his suggestion to send Pathan at No.3 against Sri Lanka. Grow up Dr. Mandal! Saurav's exclusion is not the end of the World. I also like Saurav. I like his in-your-face attitude especially against the Firangs. He should introspect now as to why an achiever like him has fallen from the grace. If he comes back on the basis of performance rather than using a backdoor to enter, he would be doing a great service to himself and the country.

As an ex-Calcuttan who now lives in London I thought I ought to reply to your letter. India's best batting performance for the opening partnership in this series has been 13 (or is it 16?). While even Pathan has been tried out as an opener the ex-India captain fails to make it to the team although he probably has scored more runs in one-dayers than both Chapell and Dravid combined. Politics!!!
I wonder what Mumbaikars would have done had it been Sachin instead?

Congratulations India
by T.P. Viswanathan on Nov 28, 2005 11:42 PM

Yes we did it, that too before Mumbai fans. Keep it up.

Rahul almost gave the initiative into the hands of SA by bringing Murali Karthik to bowl the last over,in which Pollok scored 11 runs. Pollock had earlier hammered Karthik in the latter's previous over and trying the same bowler that too in the last over is too much.

Rahul's short slip was compensated more than adequately by his suberb batting. However, had SA latched on the missed catches, thins could have been different.

The gesticulation and violent reaction of Andre Nel was unwarranted. OUr umpires tolerate all such nonsense when the person involved hails from the visiting team. Had it been an Indian, he would have by now got one or two matches suspension.

Just Wonder Why???
by Syed Basheeruddin on Nov 28, 2005 08:09 PM

This is not the first instance when pathan did'nt get his full quota of over. There are many instances in the past when he gets wickets in the initial overs he did'nt get his full quota of overs.
