Why not the 'South African Way' for tests atleast
by Ganesh on Mar 31, 2005 06:59 PM

The time has heralded to follow the SA way. The time has come to scrap the secret deal of the CHIEF(?) and CAPTAIN(?). If SA can do that with a Greame Smith, then why not with KAIF in tests ? Yes. The bengal tiger is wounded (or getting older) and may need some recuperation. Please allow him to recover. Till that time, let him play for domestic circuit alone to know atleast where his wicket is. Kaif is so charged in the field and very very enthusiastic who can inspire not only the youngsters in the team but also the seniors. He has done it for under-19. But don't expect him to do wonders immediately. Give him time to settle down. When we can tolerate a non-performing captain for such a long time, then why not to wait for the same amount of time for Kaif ? Let ganguly be excluded from the test team but included in one day team under the captaincy of Dravid. Dravid as Captain for One-dayers and Kaif as Captain for Tests. Interesting ? Yes. Think for longer run. Otherwise we will feel the vacuum, when on one fine morning, Dravid, Sachin, VVS, and Dada all retires in the same year after few years.
Jai Hind. Let us bring a YOUNG TEAM INDIA and rule the CRICKET WORLD gracefully.

Indian Team
by Avelino Mendonca on Mar 31, 2005 06:48 PM

The present Indian Team is good enough to continue for another three years. If they start changing and chopping player at this stages you bet India will finish 7th or 8th position in the next World Cup. It is easy to sit on the fence and pass comments that Ganguly should be dropped. If this is the case many captains from England, South Africa, New-Zealand, West-Indies, Sri-Lanka should have been dropped a long time back. To have a new captain and change of players at this stages would invite easy bread and butter from the other team. Ganguly will definitely come out in flying colors and stop those critics who don't understand cricket and themselve have not touch a cricket bat.

Lack of Fire Power
by Girish Mallaya on Mar 31, 2005 06:36 PM

Hi,

Pakistan somehow seems to maintain its stranglehold on India despite the best attempts by some very talented Indian cricketers. However one feels that the Indian bowling lacks fire power which is so essential especially when bowling to the tailend batsmen. In the Bangalore test in the first innings Pakistan was 446-6 and went on to amass 570. If they had been restricted to say around 485-500 runs the story may have had a different ending. In the second innings a slogger like Afridi whose record with the willow is precarious against top teams was allowed to get away by some innocous bowling. Here too the Indians faltered.

Regards

VRS for sourav and sachin
by suhas buddhisagar on Mar 31, 2005 05:11 PM

its high time that sachin and sourav should now opt for VRS from the game.let others get a chance to show their capability...otherwise if these 2 players and even dravid and kumble continue for few more years...then people like kaif, yuvraj, murali kartik will seldom get a chance to play...remember what the gr8 pakistani drag flicker sohail abbas said recently...i quote "a senior player should retire from the game, when he is at the top(pinnacle)of the sport he is champion in...." people like sourav, sachin and others should learn from sohail..

Look at the disease, not the symptoms
by Chiradeep Chhaya on Mar 31, 2005 04:55 PM

While everyone has been talking about Ganguly's failure, citing him as the reason for our defeat and calling for his ouster is like addressing the symptoms without caring for the disease. The malaise here runs much deeper. It was the inability of our batsmen to dominate.
Saurav is probably the least accomplished of our batsmen.
There was a time when it used to be said "Even Bradman would have been proud of Tendulkar's play". Surely, Bradman would never have tolerated Afridi, Arshad Khan and Kaneria bowling to 6 men round the bat - that is not only inability, that is shameful. History does not matter. Nobody denies 70 international hundreds and over 23000 runs, but what's the use? Brian Lara could carry Windies to victory with Courtney Walsh!! Steve Waugh would have slog swept the spinners till Inzy burst into tears. That is batting - Bangalore was surrender.
"Laxman is a class act, he scored 281 against Australia". So he should be carried with the team even if he can't score for the next 50 years?? Again, resting on laurels and history.
And Dravid was in form and was expected to score, not to meekly surrender.
Sorry to say, but if Saurav must go, so must a few of the others

Dada, view video clippings of your Test hundreds
by Narayan on Mar 31, 2005 04:49 PM

People are a bit unfair in calling for Sourav's removal as Captain. None could have brought India to a high pedestal from 2000 to 2005, as Saurav did, after India had plunged to its nadir under Sachin's uninspiring captaincy. Rahul Dravid is not that much trustworthy since he has taken decisions with the toss, which ultimately cost India some tests (Lahore and Nagpur). Therefore we have to persist with Sourav as the Captain till he retires.. but someone should make him view his own video clippings in which he made some of the best Test and One-day hundreds.

A friend calls up Ganguly in the dressing room. John Wright picks up the phone.

Friend : is Ganguly there?

Wright : please call later. You just missed him. he's just gone out to bat.

Friend : No problem. I'll hold the line.

hi Friend!

Do u remeber no.of great one-day innings he has played? THe epic 183 in taunton and another century against NZ in mini world cup in nairobi . SAchin will slow down when he is towards the century or any land mark but DADA wont do that . he will go for a kill. Sachin had numerous failures in his long carrer. Rememebr onwething, Ganguly does not the Born talent like sachin. He is the hard worker who came from the bottom ring and all the superstars of todays Team India is theior because of DADA. Yuvraj, kaif,Balaji,Patel,Dinesh Karthik, Dhoni ,pathan,Zaheer etc.. u can continue to write . can u mark any player who is backed by sachin .. very very few...

And all know what happened during sachin's captancy. No boday asked for his removal. Sourav accepted the challenge when nobody ready to take the crown full of thorns and he made them into the TEAM INDIA!!!!!

DADA we are with u dont worry ! March ahead and make India No !....
