Class is Permanent Form is Temperory
by Ravi Bharadwaj on Apr 01, 2005 10:00 PM

I hope that this message goes to each of the person making joke of the Prince of Calcutta regarding his recent dip in the form.

Ask for your self

How many captains have given you more wins Abroad?

After the drubbing India received at the hands of Australia when sachin was the captain, and after losing the home series to south africa what was the state of Indian cricket when Sourav took over the captaincy?

Who has won the war of tactics against the mighty Australians who were/are on top of world with the eminent help from Harbhajan & Co.

How many matches has sourav ganguly won on his own compared to other players in the side.(Remember it, when gaguly hits, it is not normal its total devastation for the opposition)

Who has stuck to making Rahul Dravid as the wicket keeper despite rahul making it public his intentions of not donning the dual role of wicketkeeper and batsman in ODIs?

Its time to support our captain and the best player in the side who keeps the team tuned up with fresh ideas and match winning tactics rather than brooding on a single match failure.

Remember Class is Permanent and Form is Temperory.

Unfair to Sack Sourav
by Archana on Apr 01, 2005 11:58 AM

It is totally unfair and ridiculous to even talk about sacking sourav from captaincy.I want to ask the Critics like Ravi Sashtri and Majurekar, what have u contributed to team india's success? it is very easy to criticise.Mind u sourav is the root cause for the rise of india as a TEAM from india as a pack of talented players lacking punch and inspiration

Its mental defeat
by Kishore on Apr 01, 2005 04:17 AM

It was the bad day in indian test cricket especially for our beloved captain. The only reason I can say for this defeat is the lack of proper thinking. If you take one by one, every player on the top of the order has their own records, in the sense matching BRADMANN, scoring highest runs and winning most games under leadership.
The leader should be guide for his folks, only team get strength if leader is strength. I never see Tendular playing diffensive like that with 7 fielder around him. Doesnt he know that hitting couple of shots will scatter the fielding and have lesser chances to get our easily? , Can any one play diffensively for 2 sessions with out knocking edge?.
What can I say more..........

Hope team will do better in 1 dayers.

Ganguly - For and against
by Shivkumar Sivadas on Mar 31, 2005 11:15 PM

While I have my thoughts on Ganguly's position in the current Indian team (well, I think he should be dropped - not just for Bangalore, but for his insipid leadership, and lack of performance over the last several matches), what fascinates me is the bias of people supporting and pillorying him, in their letters.

Why is it that the vast majority of people that support him, are invariably from the Norteast of India? On the flip side, why is it that the vast majority who want him out are from the rest of India?

It's been over 50 years that we have been an independent and UNITED India, and YET, we cannot think of ourselves without our regional affiliations coming first!

Progress, wheher in cricket or otherwise, will never come, as long as we think this way. You can open up your markets, become BPO-HQ, get foreign coaches by the dozen, but till such time that we have people who believe in India first, and breathe Indian-ness first and foremost, we will NEVER get to the next level!

Where is our patriotism when we need it the most?

Ganguly jokes
by Sundar on Mar 31, 2005 09:28 PM

Best Seller by Ganguly: Back to the Pavillion in 2 minutes
- Shoiab Akhtar admits Ganguly is faster and quicker than him. "I haven't seen any one get out so fast. Man, I envy his speed. I am quick but he is quickest.", he says. "I think I should now cut my run up short when I bowl to him. Or else, he might be gone when I am half way thru my run up."

- Narain Karthikeyan to get some tips on Speed from Ganguly. His sponsors have asked him to talk to the Prince of Kolkotta. They are also planning to endorse Ganguly.

- Dinesh Karthick confesses that his skills in getting ready and padded have improved a lot. As soon as Ganguly goes to bat, I know there is very little time in getting ready. "I must have broken world records a few times in this series" , says the Indian dimunitive wicketkeeper.

- Q: Any Guesses which is Ganguly's favorite movie?
A:Gone in 60 seconds.

- Railways keen on Ganguly: Atleast we'll be having someone who comes (back) before time. This will help them improve the image with the Indian public.

Simple Fact
by swami on Mar 31, 2005 07:55 PM

Let us not debate on individual performance anymore. Do you want a batsman to create records after records, but the team fails always (or) do you want the team to succeed always and ignore individual records. In simple terms do you want to be an Australian team or an Indian team 2-3 years back.

Come one we have been ridiculing a captain based on certain statistics. It was the same captain who has architected the team over years for us to claim the #2 or #3 spot. Captaining a team is not a joke, ask a Sachin Tendulkar or a Rahul Dravid and they would answer back. Some say that a wicket keeping Rahul Dravid is not good enough for the reason that it is an additional role and he would fail in his main stay i.e batting. If a wicket keeping task is going to affect a performance, think of captaining the team and thinking about the same all the while.

Let us accept facts plain and simple. Saurav is not a world class test batsman. But he is the best captain India has produced. Sure he is in short of form and let us all cheer up to make him get into form and give him all the confidence. He is yet to complete the job he started of making the team perfect before some one else can launch

indo-pak series and ganguly bashing
by puranjoy bhattacharjee on Mar 31, 2005 07:32 PM

a lot has been said about ganguly letting the team down and speculation is rife bout his imminent (!) ouster from the team. ya, he has not been in the best of forms over the past year and he could not have played any worse than in the recently concluded series. amidst all the ganguly bashing, does that not strike as the silver lining? there are no important series coming up anytime soon. so he has a chance to find his form back. if he does not perform even against zimbabwe, then perhaps we can talk about dumping him. for the time being, the person who almost single-handedly built the team, seems to have got a lot of criticism. i feel we can sheathe the axe for now, and hope we need not bring it out after the zimbabwe series. after all, this is the same person who has scored close to 15000 intnl runs, and nobody can say this guy can't play cricket. he has been a lucky captain in having talented cricketers-sehwag,harbhajan-and old horses in kumble, sachin and dravid. but can we say earlier captains did not have talented teams? why were they not as succesful?and just think about inzamam. if he was ousted from captaincy after they lost last year, where would the pakistanis be now?

reply to sriram anand's comment

this is to sriram anand !!

mate you blame rahul dravid & ask if he played like a guy coming from back to back 100's.. & then you say
" I think there is someone else who is much more deserving in this regard and that is Kumble"

may I ask was kumble bowling like a guy coming from a match where he had taken 10 wkts in the match 5 of them coming on the last day..

problem is not ganguly, dravid or sachin or whoever it is kumble's 0/159 on first 2 days that let pak get 570 which killed India..

We need bowlers who can take 20 wickets on any surface & not like 6/73 on a bowler friendly wkt & just 3 days later 0/159 on a batsman friendly wkt.

if it was ganguly's captaincy that helped us lose the match in B'lore than we must say his captaincy helped us win a test in Kolkatta fair deal I guess..

Srinath
