Doomed by defence

100% truth is the only way to describe the article.
I am sure young crickters like Kaif would have saved this match for India. Middle order giants have taken things granted for themselves. It is unbelivable that MAN OF sachin's caliber can't handle Afridi,Kaneria. Only way to make them realise is to drop them & make them fight for the place in team as done by Aussies.
Saurabh & Laxman should be out of test sqad.
We as a greatest fans of SACHIN ,don'twant this image to be remembered. All his records will be oterwise just a historic interest. I have a feeling whether Shehwag is overshadowing his GURU.Pakistan is going to be lot positive in ODI series with this win.

if u talk of turning points..I beleive tht Indian Batting Display which involved Indian Tail has a lot to say...the batsmen went with no plan at all...Pathan and Bhajji (I think the man has taken his brand Image of Bizzare too far and now bats for tht only) played shots which were not required at all. Runs were needed but they were to be scored by spending time in the middle...so tht pakistan gets lesser time to play and then they will be tempted to draw for much less on the score board as they had no choice giving India the chance to chase a lesser total. But apart from Kumble no one should ne sense. Then We allowed Pakistan to score at 5.3 runs per over..which by ne stretch of imagination was poor poor bowling..again lack of plan. One just couldn't stop the run flow....Why??..no logical reasons ...as if Indian team was expecting PAK to score tht fast..then well much has been said about the batting. We only depends on Sehwag to chase and Dravid to hold...and when the wall was breched (one of the rare occasions) no one was ready to take the task..Sachin looked like as if he has forgotten his skills....wht was happening thr was inexplicable and think tank has to take the resp.

If Cricket's our National game, then yesterday was a national shame
by Salil on Mar 29, 2005 12:02 PM

Hi Prem,

I had sympathised with Tendulkar, the last time the Indian team turned in a performance that was truly hopeless. The abject surrender at Barbados, chasing 120. I did feel that the team had conspired to deprive their captain a famous win.

At least we had the excuse of being on foreign land, and some semblance of good bowling at that time.
But the show at Bangalore yesterday was a real shocker. Sachin shd shoulder the blame, as all this blather he has been feeding lately on his role as senior member of the team doesn't hold water, when he looks at his performance yesterday. Even if Ganguly, in a suicidal mood, gave instructions to everyone to play like fools and make asses of themselves, I would have thought Sachin and VVS, not to mention Dravid, would have enough self respect to do better.
I know what the team will say when they get this sort of feedback. "Can you do better?" On a cricket field, I can't. But hell, this time, I promise to give them a miss for the rest of their collective careers.

regards

On the defensive batting
by Venkat on Mar 29, 2005 11:59 AM

It is a total failure of the Indian batting with the exception of the top 2 batsmen and Kumble. In fact Kumble showed the way to bat in this test and yesterday's performance must be surely an eye opener to the likes of Ganguly and Co.

I think it is time for Team India to look ahead, post Ganguly and truly move forward to have a dab at excellence.
