This is really unfair towards Harbajan, as he was given a clean chit against his bowling action recently by ICC, and the match refree dosen't have any right to refer to ICC against his bowling action.
This clearly shows that the match refree is not Happy with the decession of the ICC. It means match refree is Voilating the ICC's decession.
Absolutely. Once the ICC has cleared Bhajji i think this hue and cry about suspect bowling action makes very little sense. By putting Bhajji's name to the enquiry, Match Referee Chris Broad has only questioned the credence of bio-mechanics expert Mr. Elliot. If this happens to Bhajji after every series...i wonder what the ICC has achieved by sending him down-under for scrutiny. Wasn't that an eyewash?
Mr. Broad might as well put Steve Bucknor to the enquiry, instead.
yes i feel it is very much unfair from the board as bajji had been already cleared with his action and yet again these umpires are trying to demoralise a world class player.
i feel these kind of umpires must be taken some kind of action once it is found that their statement was wrong.so that these kind of statement must not be repeated once a player like bajji is cleared.
Dear Mr. Chris Broad, I feel its really not fair complaining about Harbhajan's bowling action. You have to remember he was the person, who ripped against the Australians while on their last-previous tour year 2001. You match refree's always watch the bowlers & batsman and any small [petty] issue fine them entire match fee or ban them....Well let me ask,do you ever watch umpires known mistake...while they are wrong decission, who is imposing a fine onthem. ..let me take the example of Unfair decission to Tendulkar during second test...there was no proper uppil for the catch...& Mr. Steve buknor gave him out...I doubt whether he has proper vision... But if you take incase of Balaji, how much did uppil so he was fined 30% of his match fee????And for what reason a third umpire is appointed, is it just to replay the match...Why the hell can't these on field umpires take some doubtful decissions to thire umpire...I feel even umpires has to be fined...other wise don't comment on Indian bowlers actions for gods sake....
All I can say that the ICC in itself does not have a proper communication and a methodology to check chuckers. First of all the 15 degree rule in itself is very ridiculous. If a person has a deformation in his arm he is better of not playing cricket as the player only gains an added advantage which the others dont have. Secondly As mr Ashish magotra pointed out in his column how can they contradict their own report. I smell some kind of a conspiracy going against Indians. the best batsmen in the world is being targetted by the not so best umpire in the world and now the refree is tragetting bajji. It seems to me like a pattern developing here against the Indians to stop them from becoming successful.
1. A lot of hue and cry is being raised about Broad reporting Harbhajan immediately after the clean chit from the biomechanics experts and ICC. There is nothing in the ICC rules that stops a match referee from reporting a bowler immediately after being cleared. A bowler may be cleared but that does not mean that he has been cleared for life. Whether it is the first match after his clearance or his hundredth match after clearance - the question is do the match referee and/or the umpires think that the bowler is chucking? If so, they have been empowered to report the bowler and we need to accept it. Period. Change the rules, if need be.
2. After all this talk about technology and its use in analyzing bowlers' actions, why can the same technology not be used during the match? This way, if the referee and / or the umpires think that a bowler's action is suspect, they can review the bowler's action, sometime during / after the match, using the technology, and decide if they want to report. We can then do away with talk of unfairness, lack of objectivity etc.
3. Personally - I think Harbhajan chucks, but that is besides the point and is subjective. :-)
Whoever has asked that question...come on man...go get a life...journalism can't be that tough...if nothing better to do than just refrain from writing these stupid statements and questions...some other equally stupid examples are: Is Dravid more valuable than Sachin? Is Sachin selfish? Is it the time for Bucknor to retire? Is it the time for Ganguly to retire?
Do smthing valuable...at least for the sake of your readers !!
