Kapil
by Swanand on Jun 23, 2005 07:05 PM

Kapil has joined the battle now . The interesting part is the man himself (Sachin) does not seem bothered and is still averaging well over 50 in every series :)

Kapil must have a short memory when he says that Sachin should go out and not be pushed out. Remember the painful period when Kapil went for his world record at the expense of poor Javagal Srinath.

I think the former players should all keep their mouth shut. They are just jealous because nobody in the country believes they are good enough and there was no surprise at appointment of a foriegn coach.

India produces very few world beaters. Sachin is defintely one of them. Instead of acknowleging that we try to put him down. If only Sachin would have been an Australian or English or West Indian we would have showered praise on him.

Just my 2 cents

kapil is not a good thinker
by senthilnathan on Jun 23, 2005 07:01 PM

yes i agree, sachin is not at the best now. but he is better than other 10's. so there is no necessity for the retairement regrding his performance. maybe in future kapil's statement will affect his performance little bit. so do't comment this kind of chilly analysis.

Kapil is Right

Hey Guys

Whats the shouting going on against Kapils statement ? U want the handicapped Sachin to continue, score ducks and put the team and India in disarray ? Like politicians who cling to their chairs even after reaching the age of 80, u guys want Tendulkar to continue indefinitely ?

We agree Tendulkar was at his best 10 years ago. His era is now over. Try to understand ! Thats why Kapil suggested he should retire ! I fail to understand why u guys raise warcry against such perfect statement. U guys are so mad, that u may go the extent of immolate yourselves if Tendulkar is not selected in the Team !!! As long as people of your attitude [emotional fools] exists , India and the Game will never prosper !!

Folks,
I would like to record my observation here.

As a cricketer, Kapil is undoubtedly one of the best players our nation has seen but when one has to examine his comments, it appears he has some personal bias towards certain players.

Sachin is the Best Cricketer the Nation ever had & the most descent Sports-person, even including today's fleet and He's done enough than anyone else to Claim the Crown. When Kapil can't say Saurav's days are over, he must be biased when he says the Days for Sachin are over.

Saurav is another good player though his skills are limited when we compare him with Sachin. It's a real wonder when we calmly try to abandon a player like Sachin who on many occasions has stood alone to fight for his country. It's really unfortunate & pity that he couldn't convert most of those fights into Victories for India, might be due to the way he's changed his aggressive Batting Stance/Approach.

Still, in my opinion, I'm sure that if Sachin decides to play his Normal game again, there would be very few players who would dare to have the desire to fight against him.

So Kapil, may be you should remove your glasses & get your view cleared.

Thanks & Regards

IS Sachin really as bad as Kapil thinks!
by Kalpana on Jun 22, 2005 01:31 PM

Why doesn't Kapil dev look at the average run rate of all the other players and compare it with Sachin's and then make a comment. As I have noticed, the average run rate of Sachin Tendulkar is far batter than all of the other players except for Murali Karthik. Just because Sachin is 32 it's not fair to expect him to retire from International cricket. I remember very well as Azharuddin, KApil Dev, Ravi Sastry etc. coming into the pitch standing at the wickets longer and getting out without even adding double figure runs to the score. Ofcourse, it looks good if Sachin retires when he hasn'tlost good impression. But then, just the existence of Sachin in the team boosts many player's confidence. anyway, Sachin should be given more chance to improve himself.

Its time
by S Raman on Jun 22, 2005 08:49 AM

Its time both Sachin and Saurov retire and give way for youngsters. While Sachin looks pathetic while he occupies the crease, Saurov looks like a Joker in the pack.

Dravids, Laxmans, Dhonis, Gambirs, Kaifs, Dinesh Karthik, Shewags should occupy the centre stage and put India on top.

Kapil Dev's Comments
by Ani on Jun 22, 2005 02:21 AM

I think Kapil shud shut his mouth. All these retired cricketers are saying that Sachin's career is done. They have never known what it is like to have the whole country's burden on their sholders or in this case elbow.
Kapil was never the sole savior for India and he is intimidated that Sachin will reach heights that will make him the greatest Indian cricketer and everyone will forget someone named Kapil Dev. Hence he is saying stuff like this. He shud just sit in his office and cry or practice crying on television.
