believe in saurav
by Bhakti on Aug 21, 2005 12:35 AM

I think its time for Indian supporters and media to believe in Saurav Ganguly's ability rather than critising him.Its very easy for people to talk and right but cricket is played on field and only saurav knows what he is going through. Indian cricket fans should be a bit patient. I wish Ganguly all the best and hope he regains form soon.

Ganguly should be dropped
by Ravichandran.B on Jul 21, 2005 04:52 PM

Arun Lal compared Ganguly with Steve Waugh which is not at all true. While Waugh scored 10000 + runs in Test Cricket (which is the toughest cricket), Ganguly scored runs only in ODIs.Also, Steve Waugh rectified his weakness against short pitched bowling, poor Ganguly came a cropper time and again.By giving Ganguly an unncessarily long run, we denied youngsters like Ambati Rayudu a chance in the national team.Let's take decisions based on what our brain says and not as what our heart says. Steve Waugh was dropped from Australia's ODI team for failing to take Australia to the finals in a tri-nation ODI tournament (featuring South Africa & New Zealand) in Australia and was promptly replaced by Ponting. The results are there for everyone to see. Australia unlike in 1999 (clawed their way back to winning the WC tournament from clutches of defeat), streamrolled their opponents in WC 2003. The Aussies have a strict policy. They appreciate a player's contribution, however great he is, but once he is not in form, they don't hesitate to drop him. This is why Australia is No.1 in both forms of Cricket. We must drop Ganguly in Tests & players like Sachin from ODI & only then, we can win matches.

Ganguly's form
by Anshuman on Jul 21, 2005 03:41 PM

To specially Lakhshmoji and Saravanan. Your comments on Ganguly are biased and colored.

Lakshmoji even had the audacity to say that Ganguly didnt play any match winning innings. Either you dont understand cricket or you dont watch cricket. Ganguly is not aggressive give me a break. The man who has scored 22 one day hundreds scored nearly 10000 runs, has nearly 5000 runs in test cricket has not played any match winning innings!!! How ungrateful one can get?
The most successful Indian captain doesnt need advice from you. He knows what to do and how to get back into team.
Ganguly is a great and whether he comes

Drop Ganguly
by Anitha on Jul 18, 2005 04:52 PM

Hi,

I read your article about Sourav Ganguly. In my opnion he will not regain his form. But he has some good "Biggies" of Indian cricket like Dalmia . So he will retain his captaincy. If we think in a positive manner we will get the fact that Ganguly is not deserved a place in the Indian Team as captain as well as a player. Everybody saying that he is the best captain ever. This is a stupid thing. If we look at the Indian victories during his captaincy , there was some incredible performances from Rahul Dravid,Anil Kumble and Virender Sehwwag. There was hardly a good performance from Ganguly. So if we are looking for a better future of Indian cricket drop Ganguly. We need a group of good palyers, who should play for the country, not for their records. We all know that Sachin will always plays form himself. But we don't need these type of players. First of all we need to throw some "POISONS" of indian cricket like Dalmia,SK Nair,Kiran More etc. Also we need to stop the selection system.

Best wishes for Gangulyfree Indian team

Ganguly's Form
by karthik on Jul 18, 2005 03:39 PM

Nice to see few comments on Ganguly the dadha. Iam sure of one fact that people like saurav ganguly should leave the current team with grace. Its not now thathe is going through a lean patch , its been for almost two to three years in test arena. Although people will argue abt his century in Brisbane in 2003 december,People should think that the australian team was without Mcgrath,Bretlee and the team had one established bowler that was jason gillespie.
Just think about his test form in 2001 australian tour and 2004 australian tour to india . He is out of form in test cricket for almost three to four years.
People like Mark waugh and Steve Waugh were ignored by Australia, Although Steve waugh bounced later. Why cant we ignore Ganguly? Is it a sin or what ? i dunno why BCCI is nt following simple thing. People like yadav, venugopala rao,Rane,Badan,Sharath etc etc all deserve a place in the test arena. Look at the way Clarke,Simon Katich came in to australian side at the expense of Lehman and others.Ganguly and Dalmiya just take a nap please.Give way for youngsters and team india to improve.Dont be a hurdle and thanks for all the good things you people have done.

we are ungratefull
by Sovan on Jul 16, 2005 04:47 PM

people like lakshmoji again and again prove that public memory is very short. according to him ganguly never played match winning innings. does he mean that india lost those 22 matches in which he made centuries ? how ridiculous !!!!!
according to him ganguly is not suited for aggressive cricket. but we all know that ganguly incorporated the aggression in Indian cricket.
Under his captaincy only we have started expecting India to win overseas matches.
No doubt he has not performed well recently . But we can't deny what he has contributed to indian cricket.

Regarding Ganguli
by Subhash on Jul 16, 2005 03:41 PM

Dear Sir

Sourav Ganguli will not come back in form. He should be sacked immediately, and Ganguli on himself should retire from cricket and look at his hotel business. His form is like 10 failures and one good score, which is not helpful for anybody.

Everybody should stop this topic now.

Ganguly's Form
by Colonel(Retd) Satyanarayana on Jul 16, 2005 09:00 AM

1. I think Ganguly is being given too much of focus. I was a fan of Ganguly earlier. It is high time Ganguly calls it a day gracefully from Test Cricket and pave the way to a new leader. He has been surviving because of whatever it is (?) and luck. Form aside, Grace, Elegancy, Dignified conduct and Decency are the hall marks of the Cricket .India has to get back to World Champion's status under Greg Chappel. So think of a Captain who can relentlessly strive for it with his specialisation in Cricket, dedication, team spirit and dignified conduct.
2. I feel Ganguly must retire from test Cricket and should relinquish the Captaincy. Probably he can still be considered for ODIs. Let him survive and then stake a claim just as in the past Azharuddin has been subjected to.
3. As far as his regaining the form is concerned, let his bat talk and let the Time decide. My best wishes still remain with him.

Colonel ( Retd) Satyanarayana
