First, these politicians need to shut up about "National Pride" blah blah. A'bad has set a bad example, in the 21st century when one couldn't think it would happen anymore, it happened in Gujarat. And no, it is not going to hurt national harmony between the two religions if a cricket match is not played in A'bad! It would be a pity if it did! If you are not in power, just do good work and learn from your previous mistakes, but stop making such BS comments.
PAK is the worst place to live (Yes, after that only Playing will come).India took the risk and played in PAK.Only after that series,PCB was saved from bankruptcy.
BJP is correct, there must be no change of venue of Ahmedabad. It is as safe any other place in India.Cancel the tour.PAK would be the major looser in such a scenario.
i totally agree with mr malhotra that we should not give into the demand of pakistan dictating terms to us . by not playing at ahemedabad they want to creat a rift in two indian communities which is not tolerable. if they don't play at a'bad it is better to call of the series. no matter what other so called moderates might say. always remember nations interests come first and then sportsmanship.let others also show sportsmanspirit
The story goes like this ...the medieval period great Kalidas, sitting on a tree was chopping the same branch. The rest is history. Now BJP Parliamentary party spokesman Vijay Malhotra reminds me of the same story: "we will not tolerate any blackmail and attempt to create fissures in our society" So does this mean BJP is going to expel everyone barring a few top leaders? Is BJP going to be a party with 10 (too much!) members? And yes, no direct or indirect affiliations too? No way. Or else Mr. Malhotra will lose his job and free airtime on the media. It's just a way to ..., may be, prove that they have not forgotten the moral science lessons completely. But for all practical purposes, it just indicates that they have the guts to talk non-sense with conviction. And yes, they are also noisy enough to provide an able opposition in the parliament. As for the cricket series, everyone knows, they cannot do a thing about venues or dates. Just trying to take some mileage off Shoaib-Sami pace to add to their political kitty.
It is very clear that in the name of Cricket, Pakistan is trying to promote hatred/ violence in Indian Society, ( which has been Pakistan's sole motive since 1947), by refusing to play in A'bad.
Certainly India should take a tough stand in the matter and make it very clear that if Pakistan refuses to play in A'bad, the Series would be cancelled and that in future India will not play in Pakistan.
The BJP are the masters of hypocrisy. For votes, they somehow or the other managed to send the Indian team across the border. We even refused to play at a few venues, and our decisions were respected by Pakistan. Now when they have security fears in Ahmedebad, why force them to play there? We should learn to respect their decision too.
The BJP should concentrate on issues that are important for the developement of the country rather than create unnecessary trouble. If the Pakistan team is not comfortable about playing in Ahmedabad, let it be. Treat them as guests and not enemies. We expect the same when our team is on tours. We had rather play at a different venue than take chances with security. Its the same with Pakistan and BJP should stop raising hell about these minor issues and set their own house in order.
why are organisations like BJP,VHP and shiv sena getting involved in this .It is no surprise that Pakistan has refused to play in modiland.Just hear his statements , even now.Instead of trying to convince them about his goodwill he has succeded in convincing them that is not safe.remember, we too refused to play in karachi.when will these idiots grow uyp and not associate every small thing with national pride.
I dont see why sport needs to be politicised to this level. I guess its these distractions in sport which render the "unprofessional" element to Indian sport inspite of the country having a number of talented individuals. Now that the Indian cricket team demands a significant following in India and is "above" most other institutionalised bodies, a statement by the team disclaiming their resent to a political involvement to their tournaments would set right this problem we currently face.
