Political twsit to ganguly episode
by Sivakumar.K.B on Dec 17, 2005 11:00 AM

I am really amazed by the way the whole of west bengal and the politicians in particular reacted to the ganguly episode.

Many players were dropped many a times before immediately after a good performance...

Lakshmipathy balaji is a perfect example, and also rahul dravid who was dropped by Dalmiya and company bradning him as a test player not a one day player....

where were these bengali politicians during such times before. The speaker of the house allowing a motion in the parlament to discuss this issue is atrotias.

When the whole ot tamil nadu liquid damaged, these politicians have no time to discuss this but other petty things in parliament....

The people of west bengal are more of bengalis than indians, be it the cricket issue or the illegal bangladeshi migrant issue.

It is sad and highly condemnable..

Ganguly not included in third test
by Manish on Dec 17, 2005 10:30 AM

I really wonder if these leftists will make such an unnecessary hue and cry if Sachin or Dravid or any other senior player is not included in the team in the future.

If not political issue then what...
by Piyush on Dec 17, 2005 06:38 AM

Of his own admission, he has not played any sport of any kind, let alone Ccicket, and still making comments in this regard is really ridiculous.
"Sourav had shown good performance in the Delhi Test match and yet he was dropped from the Indian team." This is not at all a valid argument. The need was for an opener so an opener was included and Yuvraj was preferred over Ganguly. I dont doubt that it would have been grossly unfair for Yuvraj if he wouldn't have been included.
If inspite of all this, without understanding the finer points, politicians are raising this issue , even in Parliament, it is nothing but giving political flavour to the whole episode???
I dont have anything against Ganguly but I think it would have been more humiliating for him if he would have been included in the team but left out of the playing 11.

Injustice
by sadali on Dec 16, 2005 09:02 PM

It's an Injustice on Saurav to be removed from Indian team for the 3 rd test against Srilanka. saurav is a very good captain none other than any other captain in india.I think selectors should reconsider about their decision on Saurav.

The Chairman of selection committe kiran More has to give brief explanation about that.Politics in Indian cricket is common since from the begining,In 1980's Mumbai players are dominent and sometimes Karnataka people.

Injustic

The way Ganguly was dropped even after having satistactory performance in the test was unfair...First of all he should not have recalled for second test, Once he was in the test, he should have given few more chances to prove his performance.. Now because of him West Bengal and rest of India are divided. For me Cricket is second compared to National integrity, I don\'t feel because of Cricket and Ganguly India should be divided. Britishers divided India based on religion and cast, Now Chappel is dividing india based on unfair treatment to Ganguly. If Ganguly was dropped due to his performance, then Tendulkar, laxman,Gambair should also be dropped as they did not score well too.I think Before things get worst we need to ask parlament to interfere in this matter..A real cricketer will resign by himself when he knows that he is not up to the expections of the team. I think Ganguly still has couple of years of talent with him.
