Not the way to treat Ganguly
by Anindya Kumar on Dec 28, 2005 06:59 PM

It seems that, the entire Indian Cricket Fraternity has turned into a school with the Board, selector, Coach as Faculty and the Players as Students. Ironically, there is role reversal in terms of Maturity among the Faculty and the Students. Moreover, there is a paradigm shift in terms of the importance and the role played by these two departments. The visibility of the Faculty is more these days as they are emerging as the Heros of the game rather than the Players. This regional bias is also a very recent development and is the gift of present Indian Cricket Board. Never before, the Cricket lovers protested the decession of the selectors so vehemently. This will give rise to insecurity among the players and resort them to sycophancy and internal politics. The recent example of Sourav as one of the most successful Indian captain being stripped of captaincy & sacked from the team simultaneously due to a bad stint exemplifies that.

God help, if this immaturity percolates down to the players from the so-called faculty. Moreover, if that happens there will be total chaos in the Indian Cricket. No cricketing Nation will allow this kind of virus, to inflict them from us.

Gangully fairly treated or Not
by Manish on Dec 28, 2005 04:42 PM

I think Gangully doesnt desrve a place in Indian side, what about Suresh raina/Yuvraj Singh /Md Kaif , They are good filder's and play both slow as well as fast bawlers.

For the bengal Polticians or the Left ,we should expect any thing new from them , they have a habbit of resist any changes.

yes it was fair to drop him from test team because he dont deserve
his filding and batting is not suitable for even street cricket
Today is highly competitive era
And it is shame for him to gain a place in Team by doing politics .
If he is really a cricketer he can gain his place on his calliber .

ganguly
by T R RADHAKRISHNAN on Dec 28, 2005 10:33 AM

What is this tamasha about dada? is he the face of Indian cricket? for how long are we going to harp on the old performances. sports is not the field to be sentimental. people who are mental can be sentimental about ganguly. does he deserve a place in the team on the performance. His last three international centuries are against the weakest teams. one-day centuries are against kenya in the world cup and the test century against zimbabwe. against good fast bowling attacks what is his performance. true, he was playing well during the period 1999-2001 after that it has been downhill all the way. he deserves the treatment he is being handed (of course, he is back in the team like a weeping kid) because he has often been seen to humiliate seniors like sachin and kumble. His captaincy some see it as aggressive but actually it is arrogance. The lord's victory which is being touted as the achievement of ganguly by mad bad bengalis, have to understand that it is a freak one. if that was due to ganguly's leadership skill, then why the then weak england team was allowed to score 325. when england regrouped in 2004, with ganguly at the helm we were defeated where was ganguly's captain skill

The way Ganguly was treated by the selectors
by siva on Dec 27, 2005 04:59 PM

It was indeed a shame on the part of Indians to drop Ganguly in the Indian team based on the remarks of the coach Chappel. First of all we should try to avoid foreign coaches and that too a character like Chappel, who will split the team and see India lose its charm. A sensible selector will retain Sachin, Ganguly and Dravid till next worldcup because of their experience. It is true that youngsters should be given a berth. But experience also should be respected. Ganguly who is the most successful captain should not have been treated like this. Since he has been taken back in the team, good luck to him.

by S.R.Venkatesh on Dec 27, 2005 10:36 AM

If they taken the wasim jaffer in place of Sourav gangulaay and then why they taken the kaif in the 3rd test match.

In place of kaif, ganguly can play in the same position.
