Look who is speaking..
by Vijay on May 23, 2006 01:44 PM

Nice to hear from the Great "Javagal Srinath" about Sourav Ganguly.. For ur kind inforamtion Mr. Srinath u havent even taken ur tally of wickets to 400 either in ODI or Test. So that speaks the volume of ur achievement.. And for heaven"s sake dont comment abt Sourav. He is the most successful captain India has produced. And if u dig deeply u"ll understand that your unsuccessful career was prolonged thanx to Mr. Ganguly.. Sourav is the best and He"ll remain that no matter how much Mr.More and Mr.Chappel ill-treat him..

Srinath was and is great!
by Shubhodip on Aug 07, 2005 10:57 PM

Srinath was the ultimate team man in indian cricket along with rahul. when ganguly is asked- the best bowlers he has ever faced , he always says-
sri (at nets) and wasim. sri has analysed the entire thing as no one else, even harsha bhogle, just because he himself is a world class act. sri - we look up to u as mysore express-GREAT but humble.

Time Rahul, Sorav decided on the captaincy
by R. N. Bose on Aug 07, 2005 08:51 PM

I agree with what Srinath has said in his signed article. But I would also like to add that, it is time:
a) India looked at the world cup;
b) Team India looked at selecting and grooming players notonly for the world cup but for the future, meaning - also passing on the mantle to;
c) the passengers, the "holy cows", those still getting selected on their past glories - they were asked to perform or get dropped;
d) India made up its mind whether to keep dropping these young players for no fault of theirs, and decided on a more rational approach to the game;
e) India gave more CONSISTANT exposures and opportunities to the younger players (like Kaif, Yuvraj) waiting on the sidelines for ever, rather than dropping every so often to make way for the "holy cows";
f) Sewag was told to move his feet, play himself in before starting to hit out; Ganguly was told to leave alone balls outside the off stump; Sachin was told to get some practice in domestic cricket before he came in to represent India once again, and they all were told to take singles and not only depend on boundaries all the time (may be learn from Kaif, Yuvraj, or even from Irfan Pathan).

hai
i don't think sourav is good captain for the team
but we can see lot of team effort rather than individual effort

why we lack a specailist batsmen
ex:
michael slater
for aus
who is just a pure batsmen
why dont india just fill 5 top batsmen

Thanks for the insight

Sri, you have unveiled a hitherto unknown facet of Sourav's capitancy. Thanks for the insight.
Yes, it would be very trying for Sourav to accept the situation. Requires lot of patience (& indifference to people's comments too!) He should concentrate on the game and free himself from management responsibilities, at least for a year.
For Rahul, I guess this is a golden opportunity. He should brush aside any inhibition and lead the team forward.
We enjoy reading such articles out of first-hand experience. Keep them coming in.

Time Rahul, Saurav decided.

A balanced article but not concuive enough. Srinath is a gentleman-cricketer who would not like to be exposed as partisan, obviously he could not have directly opted for Rahul. Yet he has given enough clue which I hope will be appreciated by the 2 players who should indeed act in the best interest of the game. Fairness and strategy are both relevant. Believe Greg Chappel and the Selection Committee will also be balanced in their approach, play their role effectively instead of being defensive of the possisble emotional outburst of any of the two.
