by bishal das on Apr 21, 2005 08:37 PM

ganguly should stay out of the team and dravid shauld be the captain and if ganguly would like to do captainship he should do it from inside the pavailon by not playing the matches till he recovers he formin cricket.

Team India ??
by Raghav on Apr 21, 2005 07:17 AM

there would certainly be some disappointment at the end of such a disastrous
season....
may be these are some reasons:
Pure lack of Basics in Indian cricket - No damn idea about how to run between
the wickets.. even Pakistan have some good runners - Shoaib Malik, who I think
is among the quickest in the world between wickets, Afridi, Younis Khan .... I
am sorry to say this - but the big-3 are the worst runners in Indian team...I
persoanlly think Sachin, who used to be fantastic judge of a run, has lost that
edge... Sehwag is the only exception, although sometimes he takes 1 stride too
many while backing up, which led to his dismissal... and Fielding - nothin to
say...
Lack of attacking instinct - again Sachin is the major culprit here.. if Gangs
was in form, he would have been much more attacking...but Sachin, was in good
form, but played woefully in B'lore.. thats unpardonable
Lack of inspirational captaincy..no doubts in everyone's mind now - dada's
time has gone..now who shld be th next one ??..The ideal one would be Sehwag, I guess..

No point in making drastic changes
by Vishal Deshmukh on Apr 21, 2005 04:11 AM

Dear Readers,

Being acquainted with indian cricket right from the beginning, one would observe the trend that indian cricket generally follows. According to the trend, the slump has befallen which according to the cycle is right since there would never be any sort of changes unless something like this occurs. I for once personally feel that india's bowling needs a makeover. New guys like amit bhandari, S S paul should get a look in and people like zaheer and nehra need to be chucked out now. They do not deserve their places which i m sure would be agreed upon by most. The batting order is fine which could also do with some changes like sachin at no.4 et al.
I would rather believe that its time to get back to work for us indian fans and relax coz these guys will get back to the drawing board and sort out things soon.

Bye

India's Cricket Future
by Ramesh on Apr 21, 2005 12:25 AM

This defeat was impending since Asia cup that we played last year.
Reasons for defeat: (Of course my opinion)
1. Sehwag and Tendulkar are not clicking together. Tendulkar should be sent down the order. Sehwag should play his natural game. Bowlers should be made to even think of attacking the stumps.
2. Sehwag and other batsmen should learn to put a price on their wicket. Do not go for wimpy shots like the one that Sehwag played in the final game in Delhi.
I have never seen a batsmen surrender like that in recent times.
3. We need a fantastic all-rounder. Razzaq proved it time and again on this tour. Even when Naveed went for runs this guy bowled beautifully.
4. We need tall bowlers. If we have bowlers with 6'2 plus, our bowlers can bang into the pitch at lengths that will disconcert the batsmen. This Nehra, Pathan and Balaji thing does not seem to work. Did you see the way Afridi batted? Would he be able to do that against a McGrath or a Courney Walsh? Nine sixes by one batsmen? It is insane guys!!
Work on getting a few. I cant believe that with the modern day science we cant work to increase our height.
5. We do not run hard. Learn from other teams. Heck even Inzy ran well.

Re : Future Indian Team
by rahul7212 on Apr 20, 2005 09:03 PM

Hello,

I have read well readers comment, Thanx !

But I would like to say why every time occured this with Indian team. This is not a simple matter. The matter is thinkable and learnable for Indian Selectors.

1st off all selectors and caption, both are selfish and not doing his job for India.

I want to ask from Indian selectors why not included to V.V.S Laxman in ODI series against Pakistan. Selectors and caption Mr. Ganguli always always forget Laxman why ? When Laxman was playing very well at no. 3 then why sent to Laxman at no. 6, the reason was only caption and selectors. Everybody know after Azhar Laxman is one of the best classic batsman ( like Dravid but more attacking ) met to India but everytime caption and selectors forget him. "MARJI HOTI SHAMIL KAR LO, DIL HUA BAHAR KAR DO". Selectors said his fielding is poor, his bating is not consistency, I would like to ask when u encourage to Laxman, When he was playing at no.3, Saurav sent to Laxman at no.6, U know Laxman has better hitting power than Dravid and he has ability to play odi and test both. But caption and selectors always discourage him and forgot his record. Laxman case is big issue to selctors and caption.

Difference Between the Both Teams
by Shyam Kumar on Apr 20, 2005 05:53 PM

After this great series i found that India is a team Still Depends on a Single person. In the Olden days ,say in 90's we Depends fully on one man called Sachin. Now it has been changed and the person's name is "Sehwag".

I saw that The complete team is losing confidence when they loose the wicket of sehwag, while chasing a big total. In the last series itself there was more than one occasions we face this problem.
1)In bangalore Test
2)Jamshedpur
3)and in Delhi

I think Ganguly is a better captain than Dravid, one and only problem is his poor form in batting. If ganguly is the captain,I didnt saw other members in a tensed mood.He used to take all the responsibility of the team. And its just opposite when dravid captains, every one looks tensed and also the major factor is there wont be any communications between team members in the field.

I think the board should give one more series to Ganguly and i am sure that he will come back with a nice result.Because he is the only person who made this team as a fighting one.

Just go back to 2000,the Australian series. We won only once throught out the series, including test, oneday and the warm up matches.

Does it always have to be Sachin Sehwag Saurav???
by Harsh on Apr 20, 2005 05:43 PM

Hi there,
I have read most of the comments put on board. Some of them blaming the lack of commitment, lack of form and lack of application to win games. I just have one simple question for all the people who say stuff like this. Does it always have to be Sachin arguably " THE BEST BATSMAN" or Sehwag "THE 2nd BEST ENTERTAINER" or Saurav " THE MOST SUCESSFUL INDIAN CAPTAIN" who need to take the blame??? Everyone has a bad day may be a week or heck you can a very bad month altogether. I hear that we should plan for WC'07 yes we should but who better know the value of WC than Sachin/Saurav/Rahul??? Dinesh mongia is certainly not my option of having in a team. Its the same team we hailed as the SECOND BEST team after we mauled pak in pak and squared the test series in Aus. The fact is this.. Cricket is a game one has to win and the other has to lose but yeah losing by a margin of 150+ runs is not good. Lets encourage our guys lets build thier hope that we still have faith in thier ability. I have faith in every single TEAM INDIA members' ability. Lets support Saurav/Irfan the worst performers of the series but are one among the best in the business today. TEAM INDIA IAM WITH YOU.
