Does it always have to be Sachin Sehwag Saurav???
by Harsh on Apr 20, 2005 05:43 PM

Hi there,
I have read most of the comments put on board. Some of them blaming the lack of commitment, lack of form and lack of application to win games. I just have one simple question for all the people who say stuff like this. Does it always have to be Sachin arguably " THE BEST BATSMAN" or Sehwag "THE 2nd BEST ENTERTAINER" or Saurav " THE MOST SUCESSFUL INDIAN CAPTAIN" who need to take the blame??? Everyone has a bad day may be a week or heck you can a very bad month altogether. I hear that we should plan for WC'07 yes we should but who better know the value of WC than Sachin/Saurav/Rahul??? Dinesh mongia is certainly not my option of having in a team. Its the same team we hailed as the SECOND BEST team after we mauled pak in pak and squared the test series in Aus. The fact is this.. Cricket is a game one has to win and the other has to lose but yeah losing by a margin of 150+ runs is not good. Lets encourage our guys lets build thier hope that we still have faith in thier ability. I have faith in every single TEAM INDIA members' ability. Lets support Saurav/Irfan the worst performers of the series but are one among the best in the business today. TEAM INDIA IAM WITH YOU.

Advertising a Diastar for Indian Cricket
by Feroz on Apr 20, 2005 05:08 PM

I beleive that this Indian Cricket Team without Mr Liability ( Saurav Ganguly ) is the best team in the world and can even defeat Aussies. However, the only thing in the world thats stopping them is the ADVERTISING WORLD. This media and Glamour is taking away the time and practice of Indian Team. Tell me any one in the world becoming successful withour hard-work and practice.
I can give you the best Example is Irfan Pathan, till he was not exposed to this glamour world he was performing to the best of his ability. All of a sudden now he is most wanted in glamour and advertising world and he does't have time for practice or domestic cricket. How can we expect our crickter's to perform and WIN without hardwork and Practice.
Everyone from Ganguly to Sachin and company everyone is endorse in advertising and media world.
I know money is Important but you have to be accountable for your money that is earned to the Nation who are a way and mean to give you such earning.
If someone can pass on my Message to Indian Cricket Board, advice or impose some rules and regulation to stop all nonse of Indian crickter and let them concentrate on only Cricket.

Reason for losses of Indian Cricket
by Vamsi Krishna on Apr 20, 2005 04:01 PM

Hi to All,
It is very simple we(Indian cricketers)lacked Team Effort. We have only stars from beginning of our Cricket. Think about it. When we won world cup at that time stars are there but they played like team . But now only stars. Every one dropped from team they used to say ' see my back record'-::)) I think we need to call Gavaskar and Kapil back as their records are good .-::)) We need a team who performs consistently performs. Ofcourse John Wright tried lot to do this but later he found very difficult with stars -::)

Indian under estimated the opposition
by ahamed sharif on Apr 20, 2005 01:39 PM

When we go through the 50 days of cricket, precisely we can say that Indians under estimated their opposition, (non availability of Shoaib Akhthar and Sami). While Pakistanis had in their mind the potential of the Indian team. Always they were playing with that fear of the potential of the Indian players. Their planning was such that any thing which was acheived by them was taken as insufficient to beat the Indian. That paid dividends to them.

What\'s wrong with indian cricket
by Narayan on Apr 20, 2005 01:09 PM

To keep it simple, I guess we had poor strategies right through the series; for instance we did not make the right field placements before it was too late. Some of the critical partnerships stole singles and twos quite effortlessley. Th team looked demotivated as the matches went on. They started off from where they left after a loss, carrying the disaapointments into a fresh match. Guess, the coach on his farwell tour also has take part of the blame.

Our bowling was insipid. We blame the batsemen but guess we should not forget that none of the Indian bowlers looked threatening. And while Nehra picked wickets, he gave that many runs to compensate.

Yup, Sachin, Ganguly etc failed us in different situations. Sachin is no longer a reliable opener for one days and should push down the order. We like to see a Sachin century but it should be on pur merit in adverse winning circumstances. It is time for Sachin to deliver the defining knocks.
Saurav is a good captain and has beena adventrous and execcedingly siuccessful batsman in the one dayers. His successes have come at the top and that is where he belongs if he were to be in the team. However, he has to regain his touch.

Need a team that will not surrender
by dcindia on Apr 20, 2005 10:38 AM  | Hide replies

The Pakistan series has left with a team that bent in the knee, a captain dispossesed (Ganguly), another denuded (Dravid). We need a new coach, and new training support stuff.

First we need to change the board of cricket control of India (BCCI). They need to get out of controlling cricket and become enablers of Indian cricket, modeled after Cricket Australia. The coach and the captain should be automatic members of the team selection committee.

Second, we must stop laying down batting wickets. We need to have sporting pitches. Let's get soil scientists and physicists involved to accomplish this. We have plenty of batting talent, we must have a team of batsmen who can play in sporting wickets.

Third, we have to cure our team of gutlessness. Perhaps a Sehwag captaincy will do the trick. I expect that he will be able to instill a culture of defiant courage and self-belief in the team.

We also need bowlers who refuse to give in, in the mould of Harbhajan and Zaheer.

TENDULKAR did his part in this ODI series...
by Vis on Apr 20, 2005 09:32 AM

Hi,

Every body seems to be criticising Tendulkar's performance. I would like to remind all of them that TENDULKAR has CONTRIBUTED SIGNIFICANTLY in this series. He played a big hand in winning the first match by claiming 5 wickets including the crucial ones of Inzamam, Afridi & Razzaq. Then he also scored a mammoth 123 to help India put up a huge total of 316 in 48 overs in the 4th ODI.

True he did not contribute in all the matches and by his standard it is a below par performance. But it is still an above average performance than Kaif, Yuvraj, Ganguly and as good a contribution as that of Sehwag and Dravid and Dhoni.

regards
Vis

Waste of Time
by Hariharan on Apr 20, 2005 07:14 AM

The Money , Time & whole hearted support of the Millions of Indians put in Cricket can be focussed on other sports where people are performing selflessly for the country and wanting for support. My humble request to all the fans is Give other sports a chance rather than pinning hopes on this Cricket team.

Barring a very few this team takes the undying, whole hearted support of millions of Fans so lightly and lost the series.Especially the opponent being Pakistan, it hurts a bit more.

Remember the Indian Hockey team, which routed Pakistan in 1999 Asiad, and was not even given a fitting welcome as compared to these Cricketting stars, who are always showered with our luv, irrespective of the performance.

We,I mean each and every individual can make a difference by reducing the hype to this game, and help nurture new talents in different sports who are proud and willing to perform for the Nation.
