Unfortunately, the next series is a good six months away, by which time public would have forgotten about the Pakistan series. It would also give our bloated heroes some more time to get some commercials under way. The next series is in Zimbabwe, an easy trip for Indians.
Ganguly will be back, after all Dravid also performed poorly as captain and Ganguly cannot be made a martyr of Indian cricket.
I think it is time that the entire team is revamped along with the next coach, get some more bench strength.
Another useful change in the system - the Finance Minister must introduce a representation tax for players who represent India and earn over Rs 50 lakhs - tax such people at 50% of the amount in excess of Rs 50 lakhs - it does not come cheap to represent India. Such a tax must exclude earnings from match and representation fees. In addition, all players who represent the states in domestic tournaments must be given a tax rebate so that whatever little they earn by playing Ranji Trophy goes into their pockets.
There are other ways and means to spruce up the system. I would like you and the rediff portal to look at a forum by which a serious change can be effected. The time is past when we can offer the gang handling the system, any further opportunities. They need to be accountable - and accountable to their shareholders - who are the Indian populace who follow this wonderful game. Help us in this, please ....
More important, it is extremely commentators like you and the media, gloss over personal landmarks. Centuries be damned. The cricketers step on to the cricket field to win a match for our country - they have no business to be there to pursue a personal landmark. The hype over number of centuries, runs scored et al must stop now. If a cricketer has had a hand in a win or in an effort to win, then yes, do praise him, else consign any news related to personal landmarks to the classified columns.
No more selecting Sachin for his records. If that is the sole criterion, then call Sunil Gavaskar back - after all he still holds the record for the highest number of centuries. Call Bedi, Prasanna and Chandrasekhar - their record, given the number of matches played by them should suffice. Or else, every season, select a band of 18 or 20 players, backed by their consistency over the previous six months in DOMESTIC & INTERNATIONAL fixtures. Expunge all irrelevant scores, so that only performances that matter are considered. There are ways in which this can be done.
If however, our team boasts of players who, on the basis of some inefficient system of ratings, appear to be individually terrific, and they get consistently humiliated, then let us toss that irrelevant rating methodology out of the window. Let us look at a change in the system. This is sadly the state of affairs in Indian Cricket today.
We must demand changes in the system - which today stands out as terribly inefficient to say the least. It is time we Indians got up and asked for what is due to us - if someone is going to represent us, we better have some sort of a say in selecting these jokers. Dalmia and gang have absolutely no right in lording over the Indian Cricket scene any longer. There should be a proper organized and a transparent system by which the administration should be selected. In the same way, players who make the bill must have a record in the immediate past in domestic AND international fixtures.
There is no cricket going on on cricket grounds. Players have some pshychological problems, lack of motivation which can be due to anything. They are not getting what they want out of cricket.
This is highly inconsistent performance but this is not cricket.
This mail might be a trifle late, but then I have to say this - you have been in an unfortunate position of having to exercise infinite patience watching the bunch of 11 players make a mockery of representing this country, while guys like me could switch off and see some other channel. Thanks pal.
India have not lost the series, but as some one put it, India have been humiliated. I, as an Indian, will not stand for this. There is no harm in losing. When two teams play, one team has to win and the other team ends up losing. The team that is better, will win consistently. If however, a team performs in a manner that the group they purport to represent, is humiliated, then it is the right of the group to stand up and ask for an explanation. If the explanation is inadequate or unsatisfactory, then it is necessary to make changes or else, the same humiliation will continue. If our team is a new team like say Canada, and our team loses consistently, there is no dearth of explanations.
it is a diaster for indian cricket,they are loosing wicket on reglar basis, we thought our players dont know how to play cricket, better after this series let them to go for training, other wise take a new team,make a strict rule they are not going to join any tv ad,if they are going to loose match like that then they wont get salary also, then they are going to play n then they are going to relise how to play the game,they are making lot of money from tv ad, that is reason they dont care how they are playing, thats all, this is abig shame for indian and indian cricket players,
When I see India get thrashed by novice Pak team, and the same team it was the indian media hyped as " going to dethrone Australia as world's best"!! I am reminded of following kid's tale:

after the dismal performance in the last two ODIs,well plz for god sake get ganguly in the team.i can understand that he is struggling with the bat,but he is a great confidence booster.The people who are playing in the team today are all his find.He chose out his team carefully. Another thing i find so irritating is the immense faith on ashsih nehra....cmon guys u people r sleeping or wat?the guy is experienced.He has had situations like this before.U dropped him in the platinum jubilee in kolkata & now u drop him in the last ODI....plz guyz...take a break & spare a thought for the people who really needs a look in.If u want people like yuvraj in the team...well i can get better fielders for u....no worries...but get some1 who can be dependent.chuck him out & keep dinesh mongia in the team.chuck nehra out & bring kumble.the bowling attck should be pathan zaheer balaji & kumble...if reqd we can the fill in overs frm sachin & dinesh mongia...& saurav should start bowling again.It doesnt help u wen ur so lazy to try ur luck with the ball.its pathetic...saurav wen he was taken in the team he was supposed to be an all rounder.look at him now...jesus....some1 needs to teach these guys
