I feel this six match ban on Ganguly was blessing in disguise for indian cricket lover. I feel that he himself should have voluntered to withdraw from the balance matches. He is no more assest to indian cricket. Let him play national matches and come back in form to play for international cricket.
Ganguly should play. It is not unfair to anybody including Rahul and Sriram. Sriram is past his prime and has is yet to prove himself at the national level. Rahul will be only too happy to abide his time.
Why is this columnist bent on tarnishing a player who has built up his carreer so asiduously. There are so many other non-performers in the team whom Ganguly has defended when they were out in the woods, shouldn't he too get some chance? Hope good sense prevails over all and let us give the guy a full series instead of changing a good captain mid way through the series.
No he should not play at Kanpur, he should take the moral responsibility and step down, why is the selection committe so partial to him, are they blind , cant they see his performance, dont they have guts to ask him to step down and stay out. By this action , it will be clear indication that they players have to be perfect as the country name is at stake .
its just the matter of time that ganguly regains his form .and he is class player theres no doubt about it. but appointing a new captain in the middle of series is not worth taking risk. since even dravid may feel the pressure and may effect his batting which is the most important thing.
and one thing ganguly should do is attacking positively with clear intentions thats the only thing he is lacking for the present time. and bringing a new batsman like sriram would not help indias cause either.

If you ask the answer to this question to any true Indian he will say why are you asking this question? What the selectors could not do has happened automatically and mind you the same has been done by Gods wishesh so nobody should think even against it, let Ganguly rest now, he has played too much cricket without performing in last 3 years. Lots of jokes are roaming around in the net for Ganguly. I think Ganguly should also consider this as an opportunity to him and keep himself away from the game for the time till he regains his form.
i think he should not be played now for 2 matches otherwise it will be slap on the face of players like dravid and sehwag who have performed and justified their selection...i think in case this happens, we spectators should let our selectors know that they can't just do this by boycotting a match...although i know this won't happen:((
