Appeal process
by Mendi on Jan 18, 2005 10:38 AM

I think there should be an appeal process and ability to challenge Refrees and Umpires on and off the field (within certain code of conduct though). I think ICC has given too much power to Refrees and Umpires by imposing match fees as fines. It just kills the enthusisam of team and the captain.
Also, why is Clive Lloyd on the other side, always? May be it is he who needs to have his match fees cut time to time - may be something wrong with him.

Common rules needed
by Thilak on Jan 18, 2005 05:38 AM

People like Atherton, Steve or any West Indies formar or playing captains commenting on "Ganguly getting away with the Two match ban" should see themself on a mirror. It would be better if they can clean their backs before they speak any think. Rules of ICC or Loyds decision , both seems not to be the same. May be Lloyd is taking some money and be partial or he is bending down to please 'the whites' . Why is he still given athourity to take decisions. When he cannot take decsion comon for all, better he leave his place for others who can. He is a Old man who canot hear porperly.
Atherton is a empty vessel... may be it is fun for people who read is article on Sundays, not on other days.
Steve waugh , when it comes to Cricket grounds, he never been proffessional, when he bats or behaves.

Over stepping By Clive Lloyd
by BalakrishnaaVasudevan on Dec 03, 2004 10:13 AM

Dear Ahish,

In two of my mails to 'rediff' in the recent past I have pointed out the nagative attitude of Clive Lloyd towards India. This is esp., after his Team's defeat under his captaincy to Kapil's Devils in 1983 in England. Remember the one day series that followed that World Cup, in India and his vociferous Interview. To strengthen my views, I would like to quote his verdict against India in the Culcutta match (wolrd cup match held in India), India vs Srilanka (I dont remember the Year) match to which he was the Match Refree. He awarded the match to Srilanka, after there was some crowd trouble. In his award he lost no time or thought. His adverse reaction leading to SauravGanguly's Suspention is further proof to assert my viewpoint.
This is my observation.
My humble suggestion is that he, in future shall not be in the panel of Judges/Refreees involving Cricket and India.

Regards,
Prof. Balakrishnaa Vasudevan

Steve Waugh!
by Karthik on Dec 02, 2004 03:25 AM

Why do people pay heed to all that Steve Waugh has to say - as he always does. Is he the superintendent for penalities in the field of play? He had something to say as a player in the Sachin Tendulkar ban (mike tenesse issue) too. Waugh-as always, revels in such situations that do no warrant his involvement, being his medlesome self

It is Lloyd is acting stupid now
by Abhinav Gaurav on Dec 01, 2004 01:53 PM

All this while we people were thinking that Lloyd might be right in giving BAN to our skipper . But after his reaction seeing that his Ban has been lifted, it just shows his prejudice against Indian cricket team which dashed his hopes of becoming World Champs in 1983.
All this while he was saying of Ganguly being above the law but after seeing his comments, it seems he was thinking all this while that he was above the ICC law. All his comments are utter stupid and I believe ICC should take deciplinary action against him for making his comments public. If some people think that Ganguly has tried to come above cricket law, they should know even they thenselves are ridiculous to give such comments as they themself have insulted and passed stupit comments to media making fun of the judgement of ICC which heads the cricket world.
It cricket have given them chance to be world famous then they should be grateful to ICC to arrange such good games and not support people like Lloyd who bring prejudice in this Gentlemen's game.

Reg: Ganguly's Ban
by Lakshmeesha on Dec 01, 2004 01:49 PM

This is not the first time that Mr. Clive Lloyd given the decision against Indian Team. He is always against India. I dont know why he hate Indian Cricket Team.
Some Ruleses also will have to change. Infact Mr. Steve Bucknor from Westindies is also against Indian players. He use to give bad & wrong decisions against Indian Players.

Clive Llyod as a match refree
by Raj on Dec 01, 2004 11:56 AM

I completely agree that Clive has stepped over the line. If one keeps and eye on Clive's match refreeship over last few years , he appears to a be dwarf who is under tremendous pressure to please 'White masters". That is somehow true for most west Indian cricket players. It is understandable , most of them make living out of playing County cricket.

It was same Clive who couldn't show guts to punish Michael Slater when he made such a big show about the catch he claimed during the 1998 tour. It is not one match , as a game lover I have been observing Clive Llyod doing ICC match refree duty and he is consistent with his job- he is out thier the please some masters and sub continent teams are almost always on receiving end from him.

During our childhood days he was such a hero, aggressive player, Tall and powerful. He looks so small and helpless and speaks to press shamelessly . Last example , he as a captain of WI team immediately after 1983 World Cup win . After the first match Mr Llyod had the courtesy of saying that Indian umpires were bad and biased .. Aim to put pressure for next 4 matches. Clive , you were such a hero , not any more , shame on you...
