RE- ATHERTON/ GANGULY/ LIOYD
by navdeep on Nov 29, 2004 08:49 PM

I DONT KNOW WHY WEST INDIANS HAVE PROBLEM /GRUDGE. first bucknor and then Lloyd i think this is a deliberate ploy though west indians are ver y nice, tsome of them are just taking their frustrations (w-cup 1983 they lost to India). Gavaskar has destroyed the famous 4 singlehandedly (Holding, Garner, Marshall, Roberts). Clive u are setting a bad example. I hope they dont repeat their mistakes. Re- MIKE ATHERTON well i am sorry to say he is one of few RACIST cricketers/ commentators. He always needs an excuse to bad mouth against India. Do carefully listen to his comments in future (Cant except Englands Failure anytime due to other teams capablities). I have observed this many times. Why he c0omplains as England were alawys biased for many years in ICC. He is shame to the game.

The axe must fall
by amit khanna on Nov 29, 2004 08:06 PM

The state of affairs at ICC the premier governing body in cricket just got curioser and curioser. First of all there was the issue of chucking which has been so convulated that the fine line between chucking and bowling has been blurred. Fifteen degrees today twenty tomorrow who knows.

Somebody needs to tell the mandarins at icc that the match refrees decision should be sacrocant. The issue of Mr gangulys banishment has been well documented and has received wide press. But can someone please tell me the reason behind the revocation of the ban. Why have the rules when they are not to be implemented. The people who are casting aspersions on the motives of mr clive loyd reveal their ignorance. It is the duty of the captain to marshall his resources efficiently and if he is not able to marshall his troops properly accordingly to the laws of the game to which the BCCI is a signatory then the sword must fall. This will be good for the game the specatators and for everyone else.

Right decision should be taken
by vaish on Nov 29, 2004 08:01 PM

Match referee should give the correct decision without any bias. While the match was in progress did the referee warned Ganguli about the problem or the umpires did they inform Ganguli about the slow over rate and warned him.No one is above law and proper action has to be taken ,no one can waste one hour in 50 overs match. Even the pakistan opener was wasing lot of time ,if he has some problem he could have gone Rt.hurt and come and play after some time, instead of wasting time in the middle.Umpires and referee should take action at the earliest and avoid these problems in future.Even the public do not like these tactics from anyone.

How about the time limit when Pakistan bowled
by S Ramachandran on Nov 29, 2004 06:50 PM

Would Clive Lloyd care to explain the delay in completion of the overs within the allotted time by the Pakistan bowlers when India batted in the match ?

Lloyd's decision
by Venkat Krishnan on Nov 29, 2004 06:06 PM  | Hide replies

The cricket world is divided into two groups. The South Asian lobby which is rolling in money, is desperate to take over the entire ICC, and impose their own rules and regulations, and using the same racial exploitation arguments. I do not recollect any instance of white players transgressing the law and not being reprimanded severly over the last few years or so. Case in point being Lehmann, suspended for racist remarks, in the past. On the other hand, the ICC has bent over backwards to accommodate Muralitharan and Akhtar's questionable actions, based on technicalities. Had there been no scientific intervention, those two would be banned from international cricket. Please have the decency to appreciate the ICC's professionalism.

Lloyd knows that Ganguly is a repeat offender, and so he got him. Who are we Indians to profess so much outrage, at Ganguly's suspension? India is the land of effigy burners, stone pelters and opinionated journalists. The dice rolls both ways, we have to accept that. Atherton was dead right in his accusation. All rules are and will be bent due to Indian high handedness at the ICC, because we have the money, and have bought out the ICC.

Mr. Venkat,

I wonder if before passing ur comments how many matches u have seen on TV or in stadium. If ever possible to watch then retrack the whole episode again seeing the match video. Then pass ur comments if the thing done was right or wrong. Using abusive language is totally a different ball game. I hope u first try to understand the type of BANS which are being given then pass ur judgements.
U r calling our crowd of throwing stones. HAVE U EVER SEEN A MATCH IN AUSTRALIA AND SUPPORTED INDIA?
The u will realize where do we stand and rest of world stand.

Check out all the ground realities of situation and past before passing ur great comments.

Ganguly suspension
by raj on Nov 29, 2004 05:31 PM

clive llyods decision of ban on ganguly is very harsh, irresponsible comments on ganguly shows that how much clive llyods was disgusted about the job he is doing i think he should be become policemen and start banning what ever he likes ,In other games like olympic or any other association each and every player will be given fair chance justify his innocence , I think ICC should revamp the entire structure , in history no white men is been banned or suspended, ICC is targetting only asians , We can understand an umpire giving harsh decision on the field but referee like llyod making this decision is really matter of debate

Llyod....
by Animesh on Nov 29, 2004 05:28 PM

Yes , he did. He loves to be in the limelight and knew this action will give him lot of footage..he definitely has something against the Indian cricket team and Saurav Ganguly in particular. Maybe he is yet to get over the 83' World cup loss. I feel now he should be made match referee in all matches that Australia plays..let us see how many times he can pull up a McGrath or a Gillespie

total lack of control is what india is actually suffering from!
by rayker on Nov 29, 2004 05:26 PM

far from what artherton is saying - we dont have any control over the game! let it be the mike deness case or the latest. indians have always been punished while they were sticking by the rules. the same cannot be said of either the SA, aussies, or the english. macolm grey was pretty gruff during the world cup time. we've always had a share of ill treatment - when india has bought so much revenues. if atherton just checks the facts of the match - he should be seeing that there were players on and off - the ball being changed a few times! well, all that takes time - not as like lloyd chooses to - first 40 overs in certain time and then the last few in another alloted time. but, sir - what about the people of the other side, and match conditions!!! if lloyd has been guilty of breaking icc rules - he should be dealt with strongly.

Lloyd should be banned
by Arup on Nov 29, 2004 05:19 PM

Match refree Lloyd should be banned for ever. When he was the captain his side bowled only 10 to 11 overs per hour. And now he is punishing another captain whose side bowled late under hard conditions.
Does he deserve to do so ?
Well Mr. Lloyd, we have beated you in the World Cup 1983 when you are in the verge of a hatrick. Alas !
