play lakshman one down
by vaish on Nov 04, 2004 11:56 PM

Let lakshman be asked come one down as he was succesful in that previous series,as you given yet another chance for him inspite of his continuous failure. So once more try as one down as he is in the team.If not replace him by sriram and consider jadhav for opening spot.
Let the new prospects be asked to play some domestic matches to have a practise before SA test starts in india.Let tendulkar be rested,no use of him at present. Let him practise and come.No one is indispensible. For their good performance they have been paid in plenty and enjoyed star status.

Sports & National Flag
by T.P. Viswanathan on Nov 04, 2004 11:49 PM

The sight of enthusiasts misusing national flag at sports events hurts the patriotic citizens very much.
At the same time, total curb on waiving of national flag will dampen national spirit.

A via media would be to design a separate flag for use in all sports events, keeping the main design the same and incorporating some distinguishing feature. For instance, instead of Ashoka Chakra, a nicely designed mascot could be inserted in the middle of the flag. Ideally, the Sports Ministry could announce a national competition for designing a national sports flag and the best design chosen by a panel of eminent sports personalities and persons nominated by the Government could be adopted.

Instead of waiting for other countries to take the initiative, India could take the lead. I am sure quite a few countries would welcome this idea.

The present scenario of Indian cricket is at its all time worst as the much hyped batting line-up has been consistent in consistently failing to post a decent total on Indian pitches itself...leave alone doing well on alien land! Surely it is the crores of cash that these guys "get" (and not earn) which has led 2 the downfall of Indian Cricket...We r still famed b'coz of the low number of cricket playing nations..What will happen when there r many more teams? What the hell will we perform then?

Why is Mumbai wicket unfit for test match??
by Harry on Nov 04, 2004 07:46 PM

Hi,

Whenever the wicket starts to help bowlers, the normal comment is it is not fit for test match and when it is fully loaded for batsmen...it is said its a beauty of wicket to bat on.. Why can't anybody say its a beauty of pitch to bowl on. All commentators are biased towards batsmen.Anyway our batsmen are horribly out of form thats why other team scores 200 and we make only 100. Infact it seems we are trying to be consistent by scoring around 50% of what aussies score isn't it?

underprepared nonsense
by akhandeparkar@rediffmail.com on Nov 04, 2004 07:31 PM

We Indians are incorrigible. The philosophy / practice of making pitches that suit the home team ("home advantage")should be tempered with some sense. It is absolutely true that if you have good spinners, they will turn the ball on any surface. One need not play the the BMC so as to create potholes on the pitch to assist the spinners. The pitch at Wankhede may not be as bad, but it definitely is underprepared. I think this mania that Indian curators / administrators / players have for underpreparing wickets stems from a deep-rooted self-doubt / lack of self confidence when it comes to facing the opposition on a sporting (read "normal") pitch. It is one thing to aspire to be the No.2 team in the world and another to actually work towards that goal. The earlier we shed our fixation with regard to "spinning tracks", the better will it be for the team, the game and the crowds. By the way, is Narendra Hirwani still playing cricket?

aussies on top
by avinash sharma on Nov 04, 2004 07:11 PM

so once again its advantage australia on the conclusion of second day play, thanks to once again the lackluster performance of the indian batters.there is non doubt that this pitch is proving to be demons for the batsman, but getting dismissed for such a paltry total is unexcusable.basic difference between the indian first inning and the aussies was the approach & confidence.it is very difficult to survive for a batsman to survive on this kind of track,so whatever time u spend on the wicket ,u must make it count
thats what indian didnt did, sachin played for so long but he got only 5.one can only hope that indian will learn from their first inning mistake,& win this test match, which is once again going aussies way.

Good! to through Parthiv out
by Raj Patel on Nov 04, 2004 04:44 PM

Indian team now a days is most garbage team. In fact selection criteria is not right. There are thousands of fast baller, and number of ballers in country side, unfortunately they do not get chance to select for Indian team the reason they are in country-side may be studying in small college or not studying.

Anyway Ganguli, Laxman, Kaif and even Dalmiya have to quit, or India has to fire them.Bcoz they are playing crore's imotions rather than cricket. They play for money only.

Only god can help Indian team.

The incompetent, ignonimous and immensely impassable impression left by the Indian Idols is indefensible !

We have been annihilated and axed by the awesome and accurate Aussie attack !!
