Dont worry
by RAMAPRABHU on Mar 30, 2004 06:42 PM

It is quite disappointing for anyone who is nearing a double century to be called back. But I won't agree with the points of Miandad and some of his words mentioned in the article are surprising. As he told we should not think it was a "Mistake" of team mates or captain. In fact, everyone would like to allow master batsman like Sachin to reach the target. But it is just game.No body should re-think the decision made to declare. Why Miandad or somebody else ask in the way "How many balls / overs were availble for Sachin to make the remaining six?" Having more than enough batting experience he could have hit a six in one of the balls to make 200.If Yuvaraj singh could make 59 out of 66 balls why not Sachin can make 6 in the last over?Everybody watching the game expected, it will be declared sooner or later.Surprising to understand Sachin could not.He is a master blaster. He should not worry for these things. He will definitely have a better chance next time.He may calm down and forget that soon. But others may add oil to a spark and try to blow it up as a big fire.Cricketers and fans, please take it in a right sense and sprit and support the team decision. If not,the debate will be end less

You have to worry! Sachin.
by Patrick on Mar 30, 2004 06:35 PM

Let me confess. I am not an admirer of you or the Captain of Indian Cricket team. Neither I am an admirer of any particular player as well. But the way you and Shewag batting any one would have said you were battling! on the field. Bravo!. I congratulate you both for the marvellous job you did. Sachin, you were on the threshhold of another achievement. When I saw from the captain of Indian team ( who is the captain to take dicision? a non playing captain or a playing captain? ) calling the game off from the dressing room I was shocked!. Perhaps I am not only the one who was shocked not to allow you to score those 6 runs more to get a double century!. There are millions all over the cricket world who will call it SHAME on the dicision to call off depriving you those 6 runs!. I have no sympathy left for the man who has done this. He deserves the condemnation for his shameless action. Remember once again I am no friend of either or the admirer of either. I only happened to watch those glorious moments of you both battling on the field.

Great

It was a great innings from you sachin. Although the thunder went to Sehwag, The tempest was yours. I am sure missing a chance to score a double should not dissappoint you much since you are capable of hitting many more doubles in your future.

Lesson to Miandad
by Ash on Mar 30, 2004 06:24 PM

firstly, Miandad can keep his amateurish attempts at 'mind' games to himself because he's not very good at it.

And to answer his comment about allowing one over for Sachin to score his 200....although regrettable, this was done with the team in mind, not the individual. Those 2 extra overs (that turned out to be wicketless) could have resulted in a wicket or two, which is far more important for the team to win than any individual getting a personal landmark.

This is exactly the thinking which allows teams (like India) to push for victory rather than chase individual records (Pakistan) i.e. the former will always be in a position to win matches while the latter will never be prepared for it.

Mind your business !
by kokarajkumar on Mar 30, 2004 06:23 PM

Mr. Miandad,
Sachin is a mature individual and he knows what the team situation is. And he certainly knows whether his team think tank or coach have made a mistake or not. It seems you are more worried than Sachin for his double hundred. Mind your own business rather than giving unasked advises.
It seems to me that you want play a psychological game by trying to create problems among the indian team seniors. People like you only crave for personal glories not humble souls like Sachin. He is already an all time great and dont just compare your attitude and sufferings with an unselfish player like Tendulkar, it looked so ridiculous to read.
