tour opener
by debacs on Mar 12, 2004 06:15 AM

Its a nice 'cool-down' in the 'warm-up' match for India. The media covering of this whole series right from the beginning became irritatingly high. Seems that is the most imp thing in the whole world at this moment. Now after this big thrashing I hope things will be normal and people can realize that the hype was fully media created. I can't remember any batting side scored 122/0 in 8 overs! Looks like Aust playing against Paupa NG. Miandad was right when he said the Pak has Pathad like bowlers in their 'gully'. Actually he was little wrong. He should have mentioned the whole Indian bowling side. It could be much cheaper and effective if BCCI send the Indian bowlers to play in Pakistan's 'gully' cricket. Provided the Khan and co. make it to the 1st XI in those 'gully' teams. It is also clear even in the tour-opener that media only interested in reporting on 'feel-good' things. Ater Indi innings - 'India off to a flier' kind of heading were found here and there. But when Pak-A off to a super-super-flier, no news! Hope with the tour progress media will report something important and Indian people can concentrate on work than watching and reading about India-in-Pakistan. God save us!

The problem with bowlers is that they are not standing upto the pressure. One day is all about playing under pressure.

We need to tell them that they should concentrate on basics only. You need to bring intelligence while bowling. If batsman are hitting them like anything do something different like bowl bouncer, yorker, slow ball or come up with innovative field like 7-2 with 2-3 fielders behind the wicket. Stick to basics and some intelligent move is missing from current bowling. For e.g. why not try Badani to open bowling with Nehra or play two spinners or for that matter use negative bowling by Yuvraj. we need to be more inovative with ideas as we now that out bowling attack is our weakest link and we need to plug it with some intelligent and innovative moves.

Indian bowlers \'tip for improvement
by vic on Mar 12, 2004 04:03 AM

Just a comparison that Zaheer Khan bowls 12 no balls and 10 wides in most of the one day matches and nobody raises a eyebrow while Australia recently finished match against SL the total extras given are only 2 which are byes when the bowlers are of the class of Gillespie, Kasprowicz. Such discipline needs to be introduced in the Indian bowlers by the coach and the management if they want them to become champions and world class players

re the loss of the tour opener
by nagarjuna on Mar 12, 2004 03:34 AM

losing out on the first match dosen't mean that itz the end of the road. our valiant cricketers have proved what they are capable of and i am very sure they will live upto it and i think that they deserve some time to get adjusted to everything though i do accept the fact that any international player should be ready to play in any conditions.

it dont matter.
by Nigam Patel on Mar 12, 2004 01:06 AM

Pakistan always manages to win when it dont matter. India on the other hand wins when it does matter. Why win when it does not matter and why lose when it does. So at the end of the day when i go to bed i close my eyes i thikn to myself "Iam proud to be an Indian".And that does matter.

We have kept word of our P.M. Inspite of scoring 335 if any side loses the practice match, then God knows what we are going to face in future tour. I hope our team will learn lesson from this match & we will return back as winners. ALL THE BEST TO SOURAV & ALL INDIAN TEAM.

Balaji, Khan-ji and Patha-ji, Welcome to Pakistan!!
What a performance by Pakistan's A team. All bowlers were smashed, thrashed, spanked, tonked in a fashion probably never seen before. Well Done Pak Youngs!

Indians should not lose heart. This is just a warmup
match.Ganguly should watch what he talks.Like what
our beloved Prime Minister said,We should win hearts
If Ganguly talks big and in case we lose matches,we
lose both ways.To-day what is important is winning
hearts and there is no better game than cricket.
