Aussis are a bunch of cowards
by Ritesh Prasad Gurung on Jun 18, 2004 11:43 AM

Though the current Australian cricket team is one of the best in the world, i personally think that they are a bunch of cowards and nothing more. They are actually scared of facing Murli and had to resort to uncricketing, unethical and un sportsmanship means to avoid him. They want to play mental games with him, and others too for that matter, because they know that they cannot face his bowling.

Shane Warne should look into his own self befor commenting on Murli. He think that he is good, Wait untill he tour India.

Murali
by Anand on Jun 17, 2004 06:06 PM

If Murali's action was against cricketing norms why was he not put under scrutiny the moment he was suspected of chucking? The humiliation is more painful when one learns after reaching the peak of success, that his foundation itself was a fallacy than where he had first begun. However it is learnt that every cricketer chucks to a certain extent. Henceforth every bowler at the threshold of First Class/ International Cricket or the moment he develops a new delivery, should necessarily be tested for the degree by which he bends his bowling arm for differnt delivery styles, pace, spin, etc. in order to make sure that the young plant is straightened at the beginning.

Thanks and Regards,

Anand Deshpande.

Murali's scared
by Chirag Shukla on Jun 17, 2004 12:01 PM

Warne's right, Murali should be touring Australia, but he's too scared to face the Aussie batsmen in Australia since he got a beating in Sri Lanka itself. He's a chucker and doesnt deserve the world record. Warne doesnt deserve the world record either, but Murali's a scared cheat who doesnt want to ruin his bowling average by bowling to the Aussies in Australia, so he's hiding behind the chucking controversy.

blind support for chucker
by vamsi on Jun 17, 2004 06:14 AM

people are blindly supporting a chucker because he's dark skinned and is asian.
if he's not a chucker them let him tour aussies.
if he can't starighten his arm due to birth defect, then better quit cricket, because cricket is for those who stick to rules. His birth defect makes him a handicap and he can participate in some handicap olympics, but DEFINITELY NOT in cricket.
He is an insult to great bowlers like walsh, warne, kapil dev, hadlee, akram, ambrose etc.
He is an insult to every batsmen he bowls let it be sachin or ponting or lara.
He is an insult to all viewers who watch him bowl those THROWS again and again

Warne calls Murali thin-skinned
by Shrikar D on Jun 17, 2004 02:59 AM

As Indian cricket fans our opinions are not taken seriously everytime we play the race card. The facts of this issue are simple: Murali was accused of something and he has backed away from the challenge of proving his detractors wrong. As a cricketer, he cannot pick and choose his sporting venues and battles and still be considered a true champion. By staying away from the Aus tour he's added fuel to the fire that his action is infact quite illegal and that's he's convinced he'll be no-ball'ed if he went Down Under. Can't Murali not excel without his infamous 'Doosra' ? Even his supporters will never know now.
As for him being thin-skinned, although I agree that Warne is not exactly a saint in his personal life, as a sportsman he's demonstrated that he can battle adversity, on and off the field, and still be prepared to battle the best whenever and wherever and still come out on top. One cannot be a winner, and at the same time, let every criticism and complaint affect one's focus - that is part and parcel of being a public figure. Grow Up Murali or do us all a favor and retire if you cannot stand the heat.

Since when did being thin-skinned become a character flaw? Not only is Murali thin-skinned, he is also mild-mannered, large-hearted, non-racist and south-asian ... these are all character flaws in the eyes of the average Aussie!

We'll talk when you have spent some more time out of jail, and understand that being loud and abusive is nothing something to be proud of.

Australia is Defamed by Muralis boycott.
by Viji Palaniappan on Jun 16, 2004 09:28 PM

In the current situation Murali's decision is right. No cricketer wants to miss the match during their peak. Why should Murali want to miss? For Murali, Australian playing situation is entirely different than other countries. Fans, Umpires, Media and additionally Prime minister is against Murali. Prime Minister and umpires behaviors are 100 percent not acceptable. Think Murali is defamed or called as chokers/thrower only in Australia not other countries and not by other umpires, why?? They know he is a big threat NO he is the ONLY threat to Warnes path of achieving the bowling feat. Warne wants cup, his lieutenants are in the process of clearing the hurdle / degrading enemys efficiency. Muralis refusal will deny Australia the prime spot in cricket world.
It is insult to Australia if Worlds best bowler refuse to play there that too because of their ( Fans, umpire, media and especially Prime Minister) behavior. I think Australians never thought about Muralis boycott. Muralis this simple act put Australia in shame.
